Link: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Anime and manga#BLP Problem There is a big problem regarding BLP articles in our project. It would be helpful if someone who understands Japanese to go through the BLP articles. This is a list of Japan-related vital articles, based on the linked lists. If you are looking for something to do, these articles are a good place to start. They are marked with the current class of the article (start, B, C, etc.) People are listed alphabetically by family name. I did internet searching and I think the kanji of Rinko Jogo, Kenji Goto's wife, is 城後倫子. But I want to make sure this is the case. Does anyone know an RS which would confirm this?

I got the Huffington Post as proof of Goto's mother's kanji.

Since nobody has responded, I will report what I found yesterday. Goto himself seems to have had two surnames, one of them being 城後, perhaps because he was adopted into her family, and the other one being Goto, which he used for work. (Not exactly sure about all of that.) About her name, the blogosphere has found a person named 城後倫子 and thinks it's her. They may have got it from unreliable sources like the 週刊誌. Reliable sources like the Asahi and Mainichi have avoided mentioning her name, referring to her as （妻の名前）or ノリコ. This is probably out of respect for her privacy. She has released only one message to the public, in English, which she signed with her first name only, as "Noriko". I think on Wikipedia we should probably do the same and not go beyond "Noriko". – Margin1522 (talk) 05:32, 3 March 2015 (UTC)

That must mean legally he was probably Kenji Jogo or something similar (in Japan either the husband or the wife must change his/her surname legally before marriage). I remember Debito Arudou had the legal name Arudoudebito Sugawara when he was married (once he divorced he changed his legal name to Debito Arudou).

I agree that we should only use ノリコ for the wife (with the understanding that the actual kanji are being omitted) since that is all that the reliable sources are referring to.

I'm Wikipedian in Residence at ORCID and a Japanese contact, who is not a Wikipedian, is doing ORCID outreach work there, which will benefit Wikipedia, as explained at WP:ORCID. The Japanese template ja:Template:Normdaten currently relies on a link to the English-language article on ORCID. @Pigsonthewing: It strikes me that you might get better results asking at ja:Wikipedia:Help for Non-Japanese Speakers. If anyone else is using the CharInsert tool to insert macron characters, I have created a custom menu that displays a line something like this.

Nihongo {{Nihongo|}} {{Nihongo2|}} ā ī ū ē ō Ā Ī Ū Ē Ō

You can click any of the templates or characters to insert them into an article. To add this to your CharInsert menus, copy the following four lines to your "common.js" file.

To briefly explain the above

• CharInsert is a tool that displays characters that are hard to enter from the keyboard. You can enable it by checking the Preferences → Gadgets → Editing → CharInsert check box. It will appear just above the Edit summary box when you are editing a page.
• "common.js" is your personal Javascript file. If you don't have one yet, I believe you can create it by clicking Special:MyPage/common.js. What this code does is to add the custom menu to the set of menus in CharInsert. You can display the new menu by selecting "Nihongo" from the CharInsert menus.

Dear Japan experts: This old AfC submission will soon be deleted as a stale draft. There are some concert reviews which may indicate that the subject is notable, but they are in Japanese and I can't tell how extensive or reliable they are. I heard there was the "Korean Junior High and High School" in Tokyo that is North Korea-aligned. What is its Japanese name?

There are a number of Korean schools in Tokyo. I don't know which if any are North Korea-aligned, but there is a list at ja:朝鮮学校#関東. – Margin1522 (talk) 22:28, 13 March 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for posting this! There are certainly North Korean-aligned ones, and for a time there were more of them than South Korean-aligned ones. That may have changed recently but I'm not sure WhisperToMe (talk) 15:07, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

Is むかしむかし (昔昔) a relevant separate topic apart from once upon a time? There's a merger notice about it at once upon a time, while the Japanese article is solely a dicdef. -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 04:23, 29 March 2015 (UTC)

Merge sounds like a good idea to me. I would be bold and just do it. But there was an objection in the past to a redirect, so I created a discussion section at Talk:Once upon a time. If there are any comments they could go there. – Margin1522 (talk) 07:20, 29 March 2015 (UTC)
