I notice on the Japanese Wikipedia there is a separate article for the Shinjuku neighborhood, as opposed to the Shinjuku ward: ja:新宿 and ja:新宿区. Is anyone interested in splitting the English article? WhisperToMe (talk) 09:16, 23 March 2014 (UTC)

Hi, I checked the archives and couldn't find anything on this, so if it's there and I missed it, then I apologize in advance. I noticed that the stub for the home of the Chiba Lotte Marines still goes by Chiba Marine Stadium even though the naming rights were sold to QVC and the stadium is has been officially called QVC Marine Field for the past few years. There is a hard direct, and it is mentioned in the article's infobox, but there is nothing at all on this in the main space. Should the stub's name be changed or is the hard redirect good enough? Naming rights are used as names of articles on MLB stadiums, but not for NPB stadiums. Does anybody know if there is a specific reason for this or is it just a coincidence? - Marchjuly (talk) 21:35, 3 April 2014 (UTC)

Hello, At the urging of Kwamikagami and Ryulong, I've decided to come to WikiProject Japan. I noticed that there were many poor/missing articles about the Ryūkyū Islands and the Ryūkyū Kingdom, so I created WikiProject Ryūkyū. Although I object to it, I was told that my WikiProject would be more efficient and have better support if I converted it into a WP Japan TaskForce. So I'm here, asking for your help. • Comment New WikiProjects are proposed through WP:COUNCIL, so not going that route ends up in deletion at WP:MFD. • Support WP:JAPAN/RYUKYU / WP:WikiProject Japan/Ryūkyū task force ; a WP:RYUKYU would be good in listing topics needing editor focus in the subject of the archipelago/island chain/island arc, its people, politics, language, history. Though if you did not want a parent of WPJAPAN, there's always WP:WikiProject East Asia that can also function as a parent to such a task force. -- 70.50.148.122 (talk) 06:26, 22 January 2014 (UTC)

    • The former Ryukyu Kingdom is now a part of Japan so it doesn't make much sense to go with the East Asia WikiProject. Also, you don't need to have all this Reply and Comment formality.—Ryūlóng (琉竜) 18:37, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
      • Well now that I've looked at a few other WikiProjects, I agree that I shouldn't have tried to start one by myself, but I would like to point out the existance of WikiProject Soviet Union and WikiProject Ottoman Empire, since they're also former countries belonging to other countries presently, which also have their own WikiProjects. The scope of the WikiProject is bigger than just the Ryūkyū Kingdom anyway. ミーラー強斗武 (talk) 18:54, 22 January 2014 (UTC)
        • You can't really compare major world powers and major players in world history to a chain of islands that was a tributary state twice over.           • Sure I can. The Kingdom lasted much longer than the USSR, and almost as long as the Ottoman Empire (not including the Gusuku Period). It was a major player in the trade routes of Medieval and Renaissance East Asia. Size or strength don't make any country more important than another when it comes to history. You might want to consider adding gallery pages onto commons (say commons:Okinawa, commons:Okinawa Island, commons:Okinawa Islands, commons:Okinawa Prefecture, commons:Ryukyu, commons:Ryukyu Kingdom, commons:Ryukyu Islands) to highlight media on commons that are feature quality or of notable interest or characteristically defining. -- 70.50.151.11 (talk) 06:59, 18 March 2014 (UTC)

I need some help finding sources for Shori Sato. The sources will likely be entirely in Japanese, which I don't read/speak. Google Translate only goes so far, so I definitely need help looking for sources and fleshing out the article. I'm doing an essay on the Ainu people and I badly need a first hand source.  There is a small text in this Google book [1] on page 19, which should be a decree that banned the Ainu from fishing. A Japanese Wikipedian posted links to lists of sources in Japanese (some may be in English) from the Japanese research service CiNii: Result 1 and Result 2 as well as two links from the National Diet Library - 1 and 2. - If anyone wants go through these sources or to check them, please feel free to do so. Thank you for waiting. The first link is about the history of the school. The second link is about the uniqueness and problems of the school as they have two courses. The Japanese course with the standard education in Japan plus Spanish language and learning Mexico lessons. The Mexican course is a school like other public schools in Mexico. Dear Japan experts: This old Afc submission was declined because there is already an article Treasure Box (T-ara album). However, the mainspace article is poorly sourced, and the draft has more extensive information. If some of the information and sources from the draft were to be moved to the mainspace article, the draft could be made into a redirect to maintain attribution. I've only been able to find conflicting results. Googling for his name in hiragana plus 地震　宮城県 only results in blogs which contain user-made Japanese translations of a Los Angeles Times report; original Japanese coverage of this person is practically absent. Some Japanese pages write his name as 秀明赤岩, however I suspect that this is a guesstimate (searching for this name only results in a handful of Chinese hits, which also are direct translations of a LA times article). This translation blog and this one refer to him as simply "宮城県のあかいわひであきさん". Either the LA times got his name wrong, or this guy has literally zero presence in the Japanese media. --benlisquare_T•C•E 12:11, 26 April 2014 (UTC)
