Two articles have come to my attention regarding marriage in Japan. The first is Japan foreign marriage which, judging by the tags at the top of the page, should have had an axe taken to it 7 years ago. Having a look through it, I thought some of the salvageable material may be suitable for a merge into International marriage (Japan). But that article currently reads like a "How To" with no discussion of the social aspects of international marriages in Japan.
So then I turned my attention to other possible candidates. International marriage#Japan has decent coverage of the subject up the year 1600, then a quick list of stats which are ten years old. That article links to Marriage in Japan, which deals exclusively in the topic of wedding ceremonies. Family law in Japan discusses marrgiage children and divorce generally, but when it comes to international marriages it does nothing more than provide a link back to International marriage (Japan).
I think these articles need to have some structure given to them before work is started on them, so I am bringing it here for a discussion. My initial thoughts are as follows:

• Family law in Japan - talk about the law and processes
• Marriage in Japan - provide an outline of the law, but focus on the social aspects
• International marriage (Japan) - talk about the history and social aspects

For a start, I would propose the following changes:

• The "How To" aspects of International marriage (Japan) be selectively merged into Family law in Japan.
• The useful portions of Japan foreign marriage be sent to International marriage (Japan).
• An updated version of the stats and the pre-1600 history from International marriage#Japan be reproduced/expanded in International marriage (Japan).
• Marriage in Japan be expanded beyond the scope of the wedding day.
