Hey, people. Not sure if you can help me and if it's the best place to ask but I'd like a help with a translation from Japanese. I'd like to have the second (スタッフには...), the third (2Dで制作...), and sixth (『遊☆戯☆王5D's』におい...) paragraphs of 10thアニバーサリー 劇場版 遊☆戯☆王 〜超融合!時空を越えた絆〜 translated. Could someone help me? Hi everyone. Would someone be willing to take a look at the Debito Arudou article? There have been a couple of requests by the subject (here and here) for improvements that he would like to be made, and I'd be grateful if someone could take a moment to look at them and see if they are worth adding to the article. I don't want to get involved with writing content there as we have had some problems with vandalism and BLP violations, and I'd like to be able to act in an admin capacity if any problems crop up again. — Mr. Stradivarius ^{♪ talk ♪} 00:37, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

This is a very close approximation of what we have as the Korean template; the German one is a little more clearly referring to article space. I suppose the appropriate interpretation of the phrase "contribute text" is the problem. 投稿 is a little ambiguous in that regard, isn't it? Might there be a way to indicate that asking a question on talk pages isn't as bad as writing in Japanese in the article space? (Thanks, Honyaku.) Dekimasuよ! 19:26, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

I think another thing to consider (delicately) is that a message like this might just encourage people considering submitting a page in Japanese (which is actually easy to deal with, or should be), into submitting machine translations or student essays on the Spot is a dog. @Dekimasu: That's a point. I hadn't even thought of that. Hmm. Actually I think 投稿 would usually refer to article space, as compared to 書きもみ for Talk pages. And maybe we better just leave it at that? How about this one? I added "machine translated English" to the message. I think the word 編集/edit can be replaceable with 投稿.

Just wondering if the last sentence of this template seems a little strange to anyone else or is it just me. For some reason, "ウィキペディア･プロジェクトへの参加ありがとうございます。" seems a little rough sounding compared to the tone of the previous sentences and that "ウィキペディア･プロジェクトへのご参加いただき（、誠に）ありがとうございます。" or something of equivalent politeness would be better. Perhaps I am just having a bad hair day, but "参加ありがとうございます" just doesn't seem right to me not only grammatically, but also stylistically. - Marchjuly (talk) 02:11, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

I'm not sure what the proper register is here, but the template is clearly trying to hit a neutral note even if that's a bit strange in normal 初対面のあいさつ in Japanese. How polite must we be to new editors who are　supposed to be considered our equals? Dekimasuよ! 19:32, 14 December 2014 (UTC)

I don't think it's rough. IMHO, adding a punctuation mark, "、", would be fine. "ウィキペディア･プロジェクトへの参加、ありがとうございます。" 馬鹿丁寧 is not good. Oda Mari (talk) 07:37, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks to all for the response. To me "ご参加" just seems better and is not really "馬鹿丁寧". If you google "参加ありがとうございます" the vast majority of the hits come up using the "ご". Of course, googling doesn't mean the "ご" version is 100% right and it probably just seems "rough" (i.e., "casual") to me because I'm used to hearing the "ご" being used. Perhaps, that's just more due to personal preference based upon the situations I hear it used in. I asked some friends, family members and co-workers about this and found that the younger ones tend to think both are OK, while the older ones tend to feel that "ご" is better, so it it's not like there's one firm and fast rule. Anyway, I do think that adding a comma like Oda Mari suggests is a good idea and if a comma is used then I wouldn't use "ご". FWIW, I do also agree that it's counter productive to be polite just for politeness sake, especially for what this template is designed to do; I was really more concerned as to whether the tone being used throughout the entire template was consistent. There are two reasons that "ご" is not needed in that context. The user is actually unwelcome at here and no one asked the user to edit/contribute to en:WP. Using "ご" in the context sounds silly or 馬鹿丁寧 to a native speaker. Oda Mari (talk) 09:25, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Just for reference, the people I asked are Japanese native speakers all currently in Japan, but I just showed them the text without providing any additional context about being "unwelcome". Hello, I have tagged Soichiro Fukutake, needing more work to achieve a neutral, encyclopedic tone, if anyone more knowledgeable about Japan than myself (that would be almost everyone) would like to improve neutrality and sourcing of this article. GermanJoe (talk) 07:37, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

I'm having trouble getting info on Shohakusha (I just started the article). The company doesn't seem to have a lot of info in English articles. I'm struggling to find mentions of the company in Japanese newspapers. When I search for 松柏社 in Google Books it's hard for me to determine if any of the sources are discussing the publisher itself.

What sources are good ones to add info to Japanese companies like this? WhisperToMe (talk) 18:21, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

According to their website, they publish:

• 大学・短期大学・高等専門学校向け英語教材 English-language teaching materials for university, junior colleges, and technical schools

Please make sense with Honebuto Hoshin article nominated for deletion. It looks a valid subject, but requires a significanr intervention of an expert. In particular, it needs to be linked from other Japan-related pages, no ensure visibility and hence attract editors. -M.Altenmann >t 19:48, 24 December 2014 (UTC)

The article Daisaku Ikeda is being either (A) stripped of the (potentially) libellous, or (B) whitewashed -- or some combination of the two. Experienced editors who (like me) have no particular interest in the biographee or Sõka Gakkai are warmly invited to consider and comment on "remarkable deletions", and to keep careful watch on the article. -- Hoary (talk) 06:12, 25 December 2014 (UTC)
