I'm interested in giving a little boost to the sports task force, but my only real interest is football. I'm assuming you mean association football since American football isn't hugely popular in Japan. Since the current task force covers all kinds of sports, it's perfectly fine to jump in and use that page and its associated talk page as a springboard to work on and coordinate your efforts. It may encourage others interested in sports to start working on more of those articles, too. Yes you are right in thinking I meant association football rather than other types (gridiron football, rugby football, Gaelic football and Aussie rules football to name a few for people who like clicking random links). Not trying to sound daft, but I'm still relatively new to Wikipedia (editting anyway). Just to make sure I did not make a mistake, is the newly designated National Treasure Shōden Hall (see List_of_National_Treasures_of_Japan_(shrines)), a shrine or a temple? This would also affect this discussion. bamse (talk) 12:12, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

I was at first tempted to call it a "shrine", and its layout, as you point out, supports this. The first source listed in the article is not unequivocal, but then my reading comprehension may not be up to par. The other source, in this document refers to Shōden Hall in association with 歓喜院 (Kangi-in), and so it would appear to be part of a Buddhist temple. It may be that Shōden Hall is a shrine on temple grounds, or it is part of a syncretic complex, such as Toyokawa Inari. Boneyard90 (talk) 17:20, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. I think I was not very clear with my question. All I want to know is whether the Agency for Cultural Affairs classifies this treasure in the shrine or in the temple category, i.e. whether Shōden Hall should be in List_of_National_Treasures_of_Japan_(shrines) or in List_of_National_Treasures_of_Japan_(temples). In fact, initially I had it in the temples list until I found this document page 8, upper table, where as far as I understand it says that one new National Treasure has been designated in the shrine category and none in the temple category. As there has only been one new National Treasure building AFAIK, it can only be the Shoden Hall. bamse (talk) 18:31, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Hello both; while the database doesn't seem to have been updated yet, per here [1] the Shōdendō is filed among the shrine ICPs and I imagine it won't switch category with the upgrade to NT; the image doesn't seem to do full justice to the colours [2] though, Maculosae tegmine lyncis (talk) 19:27, 18 August 2012 (UTC)

Battlefield ninjas currently redirects to the video game Battlefield 2, but there's no mention of it on the page itself. It seems to me as though some topic in Japanese history would be a more appropriate target? -- 76.65.128.252 (talk) 08:28, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

A fairly new editor has moved the article on Ishikawa Goemon to the title Japanese bandit for some unknown reason, without explanation. I'd like to move it back, but am not sure how, so I thought I'd request admin assistance on this. Thanks. Boneyard90 (talk) 15:34, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

Why did you replace all the Nihongo3s with Nihongo? What's the guidelines to capitalizing song names like Alones to ALONES or Stay Gold to STAY GOLD? DragonZero (Talk · Contribs) 13:34, 27 August 2012 (UTC)

The entire formatting of the page was in incredible disarray. {{Nihongo3}} is used to show Japanese words in line with regular text, when the English translation is not what is important. It also italicizes it. Song titles are never supposed to be italicized, so I converted everything to the proper formatting of Japanese song titles. The ALONES and STAY GOLD thing is because that is how the titles of those songs are formatted within Japan, and it is a personal preference of mine to keep that formatting. It is wrong and I will be fixing it. However, that still does not cover the fact that the Romanization of everything on the page was entirely incorrect in regards to Wikipedia guidelines. Wo is never written as "wo" and it, along with other particles are considered separate words. The IP who edited the page was very right in your lack of knowledge in regards to how Japanese is supposed to be read, particularly when it comes to particles.—Ryulong (琉竜) 19:58, 27 August 2012 (UTC)
