I found that on the Japanese Wikipedia there are some articles on Japanese scholars of China and/or literature:

• Tatsuhiko Seo - ja:妹尾達彦 - Made comments about The Tale of Li Wa
• Masaru Aoki - ja:青木正児 (currently "Masaru Aoki" redirects to Hajime no Ippo) Done
• Issei Tanaka - ja:田仲一成 - zh:田仲一成

Is anyone interested in starting these?

Thanks to OccultZone these three have been written! When finding the pages of the sources on Google Books I found a list of more Japanese scholars of China here:

• Yoshimi Takeuchi (already has article)
• Haruo Sato (may be Haruo Satō (novelist)) -- ja:佐藤春夫 (has articles in German and French, but nothing in English)
• Wataro Kaji (typo for Wataru Kaji)
• Takeo Oda 小田武夫??(not sure about this one)
• Wataru Masuda
• Shigeo Matsueda ja:松枝茂夫

Our content relating to the above topic at present is still remarkably underdeveloped, and there have been for some time concerns about the existing status of the main article. Anyone interested in offering input in this discussion is more than welcome to do so, and any help in gaining access to academic resources and other resources printed in Japanese would be very, very welcome. What is needed in terms of resources printed in Japanese? My own specialty is Shinto, but I can see if I can find (or find information on where to get) resources on Soka Gakkai, if I have a direction to look in. KateriDax (talk) 21:54, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

So far as I can tell, most of the material relating to SG is in Japanese, so that can make it harder to determine what is needed from it. Some recent information regarding how SG is perceived by other faiths in Japan is one thing that comes to mind. There also seem to be comparatively few articles about SG in general around here, so also any independent academic sources relating to the history, beliefs, practices, and academic views or academic criticism (good, bad, and indifferent) of SG. The English langauge reference sources I have access to seem to fairly uniformly include in their bibliographies the same basic 7 or 8 English sources, but I have to think that there exists more academic material in Japanese. And, I guess, if there are any extensive sections in what are recent highly regarded reference books relating to the broad topic of SG, knowing what they say, what sources they include in their bibliographies, and the specific stated topics of their articles might help in determining what content should be put in much article. Unfortunately, as someone who himself knows comparatively little about the topic, and only from a few sources, it is hard for me to be more precise. John Carter (talk) 22:13, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

I would also like to support John's request. Even though I refrain from editing the article actively at the present time (except the talk page) I do edit quite a great deal on Nichiren related matters. On the talk page I hinted on some issues that do need more references preferably on an academic or serious journalistic level i.e. well researched. What we need least are any sensationalist tabloid articles. The key issue however is that current source that are bound to be in Japanese. To my mind controversial issues are:

• The issue of proselytising – past and present.
• The concept of “Human revolution”: Any views on it from a Buddhist scholastic view? Any views on the fictional writing by Ikeda under the same name?
• Religious tolerance: Even though it claims to uphold it, how much religious tolerance is practised by SG?
• The “lay” issue. SG's structure is highly hierarchical and not transparent. Same goes for the decision making process and issues on doctrine.
• Political involvement. Apart from constitutional issues Komeito's involvement in a coalition which is highly conservative. See Nippon Kaigi. Stance on revisionist tendencies in Japan's policy in keeping an army based on self defence. Stance on how to treat religious corporations, apparently there seems to be a shift on this issue in Japan.--Catflap08 (talk) 08:04, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

Could anyone look into the issue of Kenji Miyazawa and his stance on Japanese Nationlaism? In the end he was a memeber of Kokuchūkai there is bound to be more on him especillialy in Japanase that might underline the claim of him being regarded a nationalist. --Catflap08 (talk) 15:54, 6 June 2014 (UTC)

I have added content to Japanese community of Mexico City so that Spanish speaking editors can translate it into Spanish. Since the Chizuko Watanabe thesis does not print the Japanese characters, I'm trying to figure out what they would be. I used the dictionary at http://jisho.org.

• Kokusui Doshi-kai ("Ultra-Nationalist Comrades Association") = 国粋同士会 ? (NOTE: it was established by Japanese who celebrated a Japanese victory in World War II and did not accept Japan's loss in the war)
• meishin-kai ("Year of the Monkey Club" - a reference to people born in 1908)
• Bokuto Sogo Fujo-kai ("Association for Mutual Aid")

It looks like you've already got a lot of help at ja:Wikipedia:Help for Non-Japanese Speakers, and I don't think I'll be able to find any more info than that. Have you tried emailing the author? Hi everyone. I have a favor to ask of you. I'm trying to expand Matsu Takako's article and I think this video might have something worth including in the article. However, my friend who translated the text for me has difficulty understanding what Matsu's saying between 7:48 and 8:48. Can someone transcribe/translate it for me please. Thanks! The bit just after 7:48 sounds like "なんですけど、デビュトーズのリリックタウンですとかに会ったときに", but I can't find any mention of デビュトーズ or リリックタウン on the web. Does anyone know what these might be? — Mr. Stradivarius ^{♪ talk ♪} 03:02, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here would help with adding information regarding the 2011 death of musician Taiji. There is controversy surrounding his death in regard to its circumstances and involving his manager and as such is very important to the article per WP:BDP. However, I can not read Japanese and therefore have refrained from adding even a mention in order to not risk misinterpreting anything. His fiancée has started a petition and website regarding this incident. This is the website [1], this reliable source mentions some of it [2], and this reliable source mentions the website. See, this is why if I was making the rules on Wikipedia all by myself, GNG would say "if a subject doesn't get an article in paper encyclopedias, it doesn't get an article on Wikipedia". Good luck finding sources to back up whether these subjects are living or dead. I took a stab at tackling the most egregious example (if ja.wiki is right, he was dead almost a decade before Wikipedia even existed!), but didn't even know where to start... My name is Adi Khajuria and I am helping out with Wikimania 2014 in London.

One of our initiatives is to create leaflets to increase the discoverability of various wikimedia projects, and showcase the breadth of activity within wikimedia. Any kind of project can have a physical paper leaflet designed - for free - as a tool to help recruit new contributors. These leaflets will be printed at Wikimania 2014, and the designs can be re-used in the future at other events and locations.

This is particularly aimed at highlighting less discoverable but successful projects, e.g:

• Active Wikiprojects: Wikiproject Medicine, WikiProject Video Games, Wikiproject Film

• Tech projects/Tools, which may be looking for either users or developers.
