I need to link EarthStar.jp to a film named "State of Emergency" to prove they are a distributor. I've tried Google Translate with no luck. The film may be called "Last 4" in Japan, according to the IMDB. I can't read the Japanese Earth Star website so i'm looking for someone who can, or can link the film and distributor above with a reliable source. Hopefully someone here can be of help. Recently, an editor has added quite a few names to the Template:People of the Sengoku period, mostly in categories "Other daimyo" and "Other notable samurai". Are members of the project OK with this? Do their need to be criteria for inclusion of Sengoku daimyo? What constitutes "notable" here? - Boneyard90 (talk) 13:28, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

It seems pretty useless as a template, to be honest. It's just far too large to be particularly useful. And at the same time, it's incredibly incomplete with virtually no one included who predates Nobunaga. The first half of the Sengoku period is thus essentially ignored. Everyone included is notable enough for an article, but a number of them aren't particularly noteworthy. Seems more like the kind of list of names you'd find in a category than a template. WP:MOS-JA is kinda dead right now, so I'm gonna ask here instead. I've been having an argument with another user over his method of romanizing "メェークル". This is the name of one of the new Pokémon and because Hepburn should be used, I've been using "Mēkuru". However, the other user is constantly noting that the ェ is in there so he keeps changing it to "Me~ēkuru" based on (as far as I know) what Google Translate shows when you press "Show me the transliteration". I've never encountered the combination メェ before (it's obviously the onomatopoeia for the sound sheep and goats make) so I don't know how it should be treated other than "Mē", and then メェー just makes it more complicated. メェー is an onomatopoeia, meaning bleat or baa. It is also written as めえめえ, メーメー (see near the bottom of the page) or メェーッ. The small ェ can be replaceable with a big エ and you can think it メエ or just メー. Using small ェ is a matter of preference. I think Mēkuru is fine. Or Me'ēkuru? It really isn't a good idea to be basing transliterations on what Google Translate churns out. It's not a perfect system to begin with: Google Translate renders ja:パンツァー (as in Panzer IV, details at ja:戦車#名称) as "Pantsu~ā", as opposed to "Pantsā" (as far as I know, this is how it should be romanised, since the "u" in ツ wouldn't be pronounced if the vowel ending was changed to an "a" sound). I think Google Translate doesn't take into account vowel modifications when analysing Katakana. --benlisquare_T•C•E 11:42, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Yes, Google Translate's romanisation is often unreliable. I've seen it do a lot of weird things, and don't support its use for adding Rōmaji. Personally, I'm now thinking 'Meēkuru' might be the way to go, but I'm definitely open to changing my mind, since that would imply 'メエークル' instead. DarkToonLink 12:00, 16 October 2013 (UTC)
