Any reason for not having this at Hong Sa-ik as per the naming conventions? Is Sa Ik personal preference or common established English spelling? 05:02, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

I just copied from ja:洪思翊 -- I can't find any citations for the guy in English books. Incidentally, the most common form on Google is neither Hong Sa-ik nor Hong Saik nor Hong Sa Ik, but "Hong Shi-yok" (sic) which is not correct in any language ... bwahahahaha ... cab 05:32, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any source for the claims that he converted to Christianity while in prison, and that he chose to have Psalm 51 read at his execution? There is Chun, Young-gi (2004-03-05). "War criminal, general, but still Korean". Joongang Daily. I think the date of death was actually September 26 1946 and not April 18 1948 as Kim Young-sik's article has it. Even that source claims he was in prison for only 165 days before his execution. [1] claims that his sentence was announced on April 18th, 1946, which is 160 days before September 26 1946, which might be where Kim's confusion arose from. cab 16:46, 24 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can confirm that the general's sentence was adjudicated in February 1946 but was not confirmed by General Douglas MacArthur until 20 August 1946. I have original copies of Orders No. 31 signed and dated 22 August 1946 which show 19 pages of charges and specifications outlining the general's atrocities.

According to this lemma the prison guards were of Korean ethnicity; however, there were no Korean guards in the Philippines. Most of the guards were probably Taiwanese JustusDurus (talk) 15:54, 9 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
