History of Breakfast

A group of students from Cornell will be modifying the History of breakfast page over the next couple weeks. I'd love if anyone would be willing to keep your eye on our progress and let us know if you have any feedback, positive or negative, so that our modifications can be as productive and long lasting as possible. Thanks! Nicole.cooprider (talk) 01:36, 30 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the notification to the project about pending work on the article. Northamerica1000(talk) 10:54, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Bread

Cornell students are working on a project to edit the Bread page. On the Bread talk page we indicate what we would like to change and revise going forward but would love some feedback on our revisions! Kfj8 (talk) 18:08, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for notifying this project about upcoming work on the article. Northamerica1000(talk) 10:50, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

Why does the main strawberry article cover a particular cultivar that is grown commercially and not the Fragaria article that covers the subject more broadly? Candleabracadabra (talk) 15:28, 2 October 2013 (UTC)

From what I can tell from the old discussions here and here, there was a consensus that most people think of "strawberry" as the cultivated variety, not the genus as a whole. See WP:FLORA for other relevant guidelines. Ibadibam (talk) 22:03, 14 October 2013 (UTC)

Wikiproject Food and Drink Newsletter - October 2013

Edit of Human Nutrition Planned

I plan on providing an extensive edit of Human Nutrition, mostly comprised of adding content rather than deleting content. This contribution will be part of a class assignment. My contribution will present information addressing the importance of the contents of food- vitamins and macronutrients- and their implications for human health. I will place my article in the context of the the food community's increasing interest in promoting nutrition-oriented food access and preventative health solutions. This contribution will be set within the context of the social aspect of understanding malnutrition amongst human populations This will entail providing not only operational definitions of malnutrition and under-nutrition, but also providing the context that produces poor nutrition, including environmental factors and social determinants. My article will also discuss nutrition programs in the United States and programming aimed at rectifying disparities in access to nutritious meals and other social determinants that cause inequalities. This contribution aims to rigorously analyze all the different perspectives of malnutrition and inaccessibility of foods by including sections pertaining to: nutrition education, obesity, poverty and food insecurity, minority populations, rural populations, special needs populations, and the lifetime benefits of these provisions. I will draw from academic sources including academic journals accessible through my Rice University access, as well as government and NGO reports. I hope my contribution will improve the article by providing a different context for information about human nutrition and malnutrition. Also, I will be including primarily secondary and tertiary sources, as opposed to the primary sources over-represented in the article, helping it gain better status in the WP:Food and Drink. Please provide any feedback you would like or ask any questions about my more specific approach to editing and restructuring the article either here, on my userpage, or on the talk page of Human Nutrition. I am interested in helping this article reach better class status, as well as help differentiate it from the Nutrition article. Lbockhorn (talk) 04:48, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

User:Lbockhorn: Thanks for notifying the project about your ideas to improve Human nutrition, and happy editing! Northamerica1000(talk) 14:13, 8 October 2013 (UTC)

Template:Noodle and Template:Pasta : recent edits

Could I ask that some other editors from this project look in at Template:Noodle, Template:Pasta and User talk:Enok#Noodles vs pasta. There has been a long standing lack of consensus concerning what is a noodle and what is pasta and which is the super/sub set of the other. I feel this new editor to this problem is a bit contentious. Thanks! jmcw (talk) 09:44, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Could someone please cook up a batch, take a photo, and upload it to Commons? Many thanks. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 11:52, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

Freshpet Wikipedia Page

Hi Everyone,

I was hoping to make updates to the Freshpet Wikipedia page, which was asked to be revised for objectivity.

I submitted revisions a few days ago, but haven't had them approved yet. Any idea how to hear back from Wikipedia or the reviewers who flagged it to determine if it is ready to be approved?

Thanks!

Hi Jon, I'm not sure exactly what you are asking. If you edited the article, then those edits go live right away, there is no need for a review process. If you submitted edits in another way, say to a sandbox page or to a users talk page, then someone will have to move those edits over. I'm not sure there is an official process for this. Its easier just to make the edits to the page yourself. Once you have made your edits you can come here and ask for input (I get the feeling that might be what you are asking for here, but your question is quite vague). Be specific about your concerns and people will be more likely to respond. Hope this help some -Killian441 (talk) 00:29, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Non-edible vegetable oil

Hello, one of the articles I have working on recently, Pongamia oil, has been tagged with the Food and Drink wikiproject in the talk page because the article in Category:Vegetable oils. However Pongamia oil is non-edible and I am not sure if this wikiproject deals with non-edible oils. Would it be best just to remove the Food and Drink tag from the talk page? Thanks for any guidance -Killian441 (talk) 23:52, 21 November 2013 (UTC)

Just remove it. It was added in a tagging run a few years ago, probably because some one tagged it with the wrong category. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 07:34, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

I initially reverted the move but then thought better of it on procedural grounds and let it pass. For better or worse it was featured on Alerts here and no project editors commented. However the categories are now messed up, someone will need to fix. Good luck. In ictu oculi (talk) 17:53, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Categories

Category:Thanksgiving food, Category:Christmas food, can I put these categories in Category:Foods. And can I make a category Delicacy for pages like Wasabi? ZSpeed (talk) 13:22, 27 November 2013 (UTC)

The first two categories listed above above are (now) both under the subcategory Category:Holiday foods, one of the main subcategories of Category:Foods. Regarding creating a category under Category:Delicacies, I started the category per your suggestion above. (Good idea!) Northamerica1000(talk) 08:11, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

London Cheesecake

I've created an article for the London Cheesecake, but can only find a single acceptable reference for it on t'internet. I know several elderly people who have told me of its origins in the London Blitz, and have found several similar recipes and references for it, albeit on blogs. This is clearly a case of where Wikipedia comes up short against "folk material", and I can't quite think how to proceed. Help! Gareth E Kegg (talk) 20:30, 1 December 2013 (UTC)

Expansion of Chocolate Ice Cream

I'm working on expanding chocolate ice cream- would anyone care to help? :)

Batter and dough

If anyone needs a project... the articles on dough and batter (cooking) both surprisingly get tons of traffic, and they are both tiny stubs. I've been working the last few days to add to and improve the dough article... it's tough to write such general, foundational articles. If anyone has any thoughts for additions, missing pieces, improvements, etc. please jump in or note them on the talk pages :) -- phoebe / (talk to me) 19:45, 11 December 2013 (UTC)

Category:Delicacies

Category:Delicacies has been nominated for possible deletion, merging, or renaming. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Northamerica1000(talk) 21:31, 15 December 2013 (UTC)

There is a drink not exactly similar to the bottle of that product: Lemon Coke (檸檬可樂). More info can be added about the Coca-Cola with real lemon. --George Ho (talk) 07:29, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
