Since this article is specifically about the naval use, the parenthetical disambiguator seems like a good way to distinguish (and it's not just the Royal Navy, as the article shows).   • (Discuss) – Pierre Alonzo (footballer) → Pierre Alonzo – There is no other person on in the English Wikipedia with the name Pierre Alonzo. Somehow, a disambiguation page was created, because one of writer Richard E. Hughes's pseudonyms happens to be Pierre Alonzo. However, this could have just been a hatnote at the top of this article. Hughes even appears to have a dozen pseudonyms, with no indication that any are notable enough to create disambiguation pages. Pierre Alonzo doesn't even seem to be his primary pseudonym per that article. Overall, this football player and manager seems to have clear PRIMARYTOPIC over the title "Pierre Alonzo", and we can just put a hatnote instead for Hughes's pseudonym.   • (Discuss) – Bengaluru Airport → Bangalore Airport – This article has gone through a number of move changes but the most recent discussion (seen above) concluded that it should be named Bengaluru Airport. One editor has unilaterally moved the article to reflect the airport's official name without opening a new discussion which I have undone. However, upon reflection, I feel that the WP:COMMONNAME for this article would be Bangalore Airport. This would reflect the consensus seen at Talk:Bangalore#Requested_move_21_March_2024 that Bangalore is the common name of the city, not Bengaluru. Bangalore is also what major English-speaking international carriers describe the airport as including United [1] and British Airways [2]. Qantas, meanwhile, feels the need to clarify that Bengaluru is Bangalore using quotations further underlining that Bangalore is more common [3]. Additionally, given the consensus for the Bangalore article, having the equivalent name for the airport is supported by WP:CONSISTENT.   • (Discuss) – Abu Lu'lu'a Firuz → Abu Lu'lu'a – Per the above discussions of the page title. "Abu Lu'lu'a" is an unambiguous title for the subject and the WP:COMMONNAME apparent in English language scholarship. The appellation of Firuz after this name is something that only comes from a handful of sources by comparison, and was partly done as a form of compromise (an offering to Iranian readers) in the hope of warding off naming disputes. It was unsuccessful in the latter, while the overarching naming confusion has now been conclusively resolved. Since compromise, while sometimes necessary, is not really a policy or guidleline, it seems like this unnecessary addition (which adds no precision, but does detract from concision and muddies the common name) can be dispensed with.   • (Discuss) – Tamil genocide → Tamil genocide allegation – There is neither academic consensus nor even a mainstream narrative that the persecution of Tamils in Sri Lanka constituted a genocide; especially that the article's creator and main author tries to stretch it as far back as 1948. There are very few reliable sources, if any, barring a handful of PhD theses, that would discuss the legal aspect in the terms of the Genocide Convention. The concept of calling the persecutions "genocide" arose fairly recently, predominantly among the Canadian Tamil émigrés – if we run a Google search for "Tamil genocide" excluding "Canada", we get rather few meaningful results.[7]. Add to it the fact that there has been no case, not even a complaint to the International Court of Justice about a "Tamil genocide".   • (Discuss) – Carpathian Ruthenia → Transcarpathia – Each time I want to get to this article I first get to the Transcarpathia disambiguation page and later think why is this article titled this way. "Transcarpathia" is overwhelmingly the most WP:COMMONNAME for this region. I simply do not see it in use today outside of Wikipedia. Transcarpathia has 16,300 Google Scholar results while Carpathian Ruthenia has 8,530. Transcarpathia is far more popular than Carpathian Ruthenia as shown by Google Ngrams [8]. Britannica has a topic for Transcarpathia [9] and no page for Carpathian Ruthenia. I can hardly find news related to the invasion of Ukraine about the region under the name of Carpathian Ruthenia.   • (Discuss) – Dersim rebellion → Dersim massacre – I opposed the last time this was proposed, but after looking at sources more closely, I am increasingly concerned that the present name is misleading. Although it could be defended on a common-name basis: *The title is misleading: A key point is that the Turkish state planned the ethnic cleansing of Dersim and moved in troops before the "rebellion" occurred that served as a pretext for escalating the violence.[1] Recent sources, especially those published since the last RM, tend to recognize that rebellion is a problematic terminology and several use the word "alleged" or put "rebellion" in quotation marks.[2][3][4] Similar in some ways to the Armenian genocide, the "rebellion" aspect is played up in order to excuse violence that was on a completely separate order of magnitude. Massacre cannot be argued to be a POV term because it is not disputed that a massacre took place. *The title doesn't reflect why the event is notable: the event is notable because of the massacres and ethnic cleansing that took place, not because of very minor anti-state incidents (arson of a bridge and cutting telegraph lines). *The Google Scholar statistics are unreliable because they include Turkish state-sponsored sources that are not reliable for this topic. This is generally just referred to as "SIM swap" (or the action of performing it, "SIM swapping"), so having "scam" in the title is not exceptionally necessary and can just be introduced in the lead section.   • (Discuss) – Nunez → Núñez – This should be an article about the Spanish surname "Núñez" itself, not the anglicization of it. Most of the linked people use the name with diacritics rather than without. Note: The revision history of this and the existing redirect Núñez is a bit odd: apparently Nunez and Núñez both used to be separate articles as far back as February 2006, but in August 2011 Luna777 (talk · contribs) turned the article with diacritics into a redirect to the one without, for some reason never given, rather than the other way around. Said user then ceased editing Wikipedia altogether a month later. It's for this reason that I haven't been WP:BOLD and attempted a move myself, even with user rights, because I'm not sure what could be done about that messy history.     The page was moved to "list of largest known stars" on 2021-09-30 by Nussun05 (talk · contribs) with the following reason: "We don't know the exact largest stars in the entire universe, the list only consists of known large stars.", and he's right, we don't know all the stars in the Universe, the current title is more accurate.   • (Discuss) – Rita Sullivan → Rita Tanner – It's been twelve years now since the character was married and her name changed, and the Google searches now support her common name as Rita Tanner. Google results show "Rita Tanner Coronation Street" as 371,000 results, with Sullivan on 322,000. Narrowing it to news results, Rita Tanner is on 300+ (the number stays at "about 300" for all results above), with Sullivan on 299. When you narrow it to books, Rita Tanner once again brings up far more relevant results as a more recognisable name attached to the series. While the journal is often called by its shortened name, Church History, it is also widely known by its full title, Church History: Studies in Christianity and Culture. Also, although this is an article about a periodical rather than an article about a book, WP:SUBTITLE seems instructive here: When the most commonly used name is ambiguous, the full title and subtitle might be suitable to be used as a form of natural disambiguation (see WP:NATURALDIS). The first was a Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway station opened as Old Cumnock in 1850, renamed to Cumnock in 1955 and closed in 1965. The second was a Glasgow and South Western Railway station that was only ever known as Cumnock, opened in 1872 and closed in 1951. I feel the natural disambiguation (using Old Cumnock and Cumnock) works best as there was only a brief period where the first station was known as Cumnock and they had different names when they were both in operation. The other options for disambiguation don't really work either as they are both in the same town and they were both run by the same company as the Glasgow, Paisley, Kilmarnock and Ayr Railway became the Glasgow and South Western Railway shortly after the first station opened. The current naming pattern doesn't work with the policy so they will have to move, I don't know what the disambiguation for the second station should be though as their is also a Cumnock railway station in Australia and Cumnock railway station needs to be a dab page. Currently, the general article is at "History of" and the specific one about the 2010s project at "Nicaragua Canal". Each has a section summarizing the other, Nicaragua Canal § History and History of the Nicaragua Canal § HKND project (2010–present), with {{main}} hatnote crosslinks. This likely made sense when said project was active and there was reason to expect it to result in an actual canal, which would obviously have been vastly more notable than any mere plan to build one. But by the end of that decade, the project had been essentially abandoned, and I don't think it makes sense any longer. "Nicaragua Canal" has about 200 incoming article links ([41]), of which I surveyed the first 20. The result is pretty much an even split between links that should indeed go to the 2010s project, and links that should go to the general page, or in some cases ideally one of its sections about earlier specific projects. But it's more confusing to follow a link to an article that's about the wrong specific thing than to an article that's too general, especially when that specific article has an unspecific title. So a switch would clarify the situation, IMO. Also, this article still has the problem of being overwhelmingly tilted towards 80s English news coverage instead of the boatload of later, more accurate, Korean language sourcing, but as I do not speak Korean this is a difficult issue to fix. This can also confuse the reader since the article refers to Tsardom of Russia, which uses a different designation.   • (Discuss) – Joint Light Tactical Vehicle → Joint Light Tactical Vehicle competition – There are basically two extremely similar articles about the JLTV. Actually three. Joint Light Tactical Vehicle resembles an article about the development program, while Oshkosh L-ATV is about the JLTV selected for production. There is enough content for two articles, but I would guess that most people searching for "JLTV" would expect to find an article about the production vehicle than the competition that produced it. Background: "L-ATV" was the marketing name for the truck originally designed by Oshkosh for the JLTV program, which Oshkosh won in 2015. Presumably Oshkosh did not wish to tie the vehicle's success to the JLTV program, and so branded it as Each branch of the U.S. military calls it the "JLTV". Oshkosh usually refers to the L-ATV as the JLTV, although very occasionally Oshkosh will market a variant of the JLTV as an L-ATV on their own initiative. Here is a press release where Oshkosh announces the sale of "JLTVs", not "L-ATVs", to European countries. AM General will take over production of the JLTV from Oshkosh at the end of the year. They will be calling their version the JLTV A2. If this move is carried out there should be a section about the competition with a pointer to Joint Light Tactical Vehicle competition.   • (Discuss) – Polish–Ukrainian ethnic conflict → Polish–Ukrainian relations (1939–1947) – The article's author was unable to demonstrate the source basis for the existence of a Polish-Ukrainian ethnic conflict in 1942-47; the very fact that he places the Polish anti-communist and pro-independence Freedom and Independence Association on the Ukrainian side demonstrates his poor grasp of the subject, but also, and above all, the inability to narrate the entire history solely through the optics of "ethnic conflict." For indeed, this is a misleading take. First, because it is difficult to define the actors. The Polish side is not homogeneous: there are many organizations, and the three main currents (the Home Army, the Nationalists and the Communists) had different attitudes toward the Ukrainian cause and did not pursue a uniform policy. Likewise, on the Ukrainian side, there is the OUN-M, OUN-B (and UPA), UCK collaborators, Bulbovets, Ukrainian Soviet partisans, Ukrainian SSR authorities, etc. Second, despite generally hostile relations, there were also periods of peace, attempts at agreement, and actual alliances. There is an entire book by Grzegorz Motyka and Rafał Wnuk on this subject: "Pany and rezuny. Cooperation of the AK-WiN and the UPA 1945-1947". Many Ukrainians served in the Polish army in 1939 and in the Polish armed forces in the west. Pavlo Shandruk cooperated with the Polish government in exile etc. These are things largely not currently described on Wikipedia. In the current situation, I see two choices: # due to the fact that the article is a translation from the Polish Wiki of the article under the title " Polish-Ukrainian partisan fighting", we can move it under this title and change the scope to describe the skirmishes between the two partisan movement. # or, as I suggest, move it under the title I proposed and describe the whole of Polish-Ukrainian relations during the war. I believe that such an article would be valuable and would be a " container" tying together all the topics currently described in isolation (the massacres of Poles in Volhynia, the Hrubieszów revolution, the WiN-UPA alliance, etc.). It lacks precision, as it encompasses related but dissimilar topics, often being misinterpreted by users to mean that all genital modifications listed on the page are mutilations. 2.) It fails the criteria of concision. As all genital mutilations are forms of genital modifications, genital modification would suffice. (e.g. It is like if a page was termed "List of dogs and bulldogs" instead of "List of dogs") 3.) It fails the criteria of neutrality, as it implies to readers (problematically) that gender-affirming surgery, labiaplasty, circumcision, and pearling are mutilation. It also associates "modification" with exclusively negative changes. To make it meet WP: NPOV, you'd have to add "enhancement" or another positive term, a proposal that would further fail the criteria of concision. 4.) The title goes against article precedents surrounding body modification articles. All of which leave out titles that give positive or negative personal judgements. See Cardinal of Bourbon and Charles de Bourbon. The current title is confusing because this fellow was not the first cardinal of the House of Bourbon named Charles. He was the first Charles to be archbishop of Rouen. The title I propose follows the French Wikipedia.
