According to our article on scurvy, lemon juice was introduced as a standard part of the Royal Navy diet in 1795, well within the Age of Sail. A reference is given there.

This is contrary to this article which currently reads Salted meat was a staple of the mariner's diet in the Age of Sail. It was stored in barrels, and often had to last for months spent out of sight of land. The basic Royal Navy diet consisted of salted beef, salted pork, ship's biscuit, and oatmeal, supplemented with smaller quantities of peas, cheese and butter. A reference is also given there.

I think that the scurvy article is correct and this one wrong, but investigation and discussion are obviously needed. Andrewa (talk) 09:46, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to edit this sentence: Jamón – Jamón are certain types of dry-cured ham from Spain but I can't. The sentence doesn't appear in edit mode. Can someone change it to: Jamón – Jamón is a certain type of dry-cured ham from Spain. This is because jamón is a countable, singular noun. DBlomgren (talk) 01:44, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
