one should correct the numbers in membership. according to the bnei akiva israel homepage the movement has just 75.000 members:

The Bnei akiva israel home page was referring to Israel Bnei akiva. The article states that Israel Bnei akiva has 75000 memebers. the World Bnei Akiva Movement means the rest of the world excluding Israel.

One of the problems of writing or editing an article about Bnei akiva is the use of the Hebrew language. Many hebrew words are used by Bnei Akiva members most of whom do not speak Hebrew. I suggest that we add a lexicon of these words. The format could be:- 1) the word written in Hebrew, 2) The word translierated to English, 3) transalation and explanation. Eg חבר, Chaver, Chaver means member or friend. In Bnei Akiva it is generally used to denote a member. חבריה אלף. Aleph Chevraya, The younger age groups, usually 9- 12. It is no longer apparent in this article that its source for most of the article is the web site of Bnei Akiva Cleveland. It has never been clear that permission was given to license that site's content under the GFDL. I may remove large chunks of this article if there is not any clarification of license within the next week or so. There's a "revert war" going on in this article over what is the largest Zionist lardy dardy dah in SA.

Does anyone have stats to back up assertions?

If not, I propose that the article should be amended to read "one of the largest".

I have access to the Bnei Akiva database, with all stats going back from 3 to 5 years. The question is, what makes one movement larger than the other?

• The amount of people who attend the annual summer camp?
• The amount of people the movement sends to Israel?
• The amount of people involved in all programs throughout the year?
• The amount of people who pay affiliation fees?

Can we include Mifkad in this and also explain the difference in ideology between BAUK, BASA, BAUS and BAI, because they all have different views on BA's ideology.

I've got a problem with this statement: " Bnei Akiva is a right-wing movement within Israel, strongly identified with the Religious Kibbutz Movement and the National Religious Party which has a number of seats in Israel's Parliament. Outside of Israel, the youth movements under the Bnei Akiva umbrella organisation tend to be very Zionist."

Firstly as a former BA member and a present right winger, I've never been raised or educated in BA in such a way. BA never was or is a POLITICAL movement, it was and still is an IDEALISTIC one, though each one of us has an opinion, we allways have people from both sides of the political spectrum.

We have been raised through the teachings of Rabbi Akiva: "Ve'ahavta le reacha camocha" (love the other as you love yourself), and Torah ve Avoda, most of the old-timers, Kibutz movement and my self (living in Israel) tend to be quite Socialistic about our daily aproaches.

Oh yes...by the way, NEVER voted Mafdal (National Religious Party), they did not knew how to defend the Ideals of Etretz Israel...allways wore busy on other things but that's another story.

Saying that abroad "tend to be" means that they might not be?, and that in Israel we are not Zionist?, Trully, this article if full of loops, and seems more to be a mixture between recycled material and someones else personal views.

I hope that for the good of the real BA some "Oficial" leader takes charge of this article.

Would anyone be able to write the Ivrit/Hebrew Yad Achim on this article? It seems peculiar to have the English translation; as far as I am aware the anthem was not composed in, and is never sung in, English!

I removed the reference to Kahane on this page. I didn't see how it was relevant in that section. It can perhaps be included in a section on extremists who have been involved with the Bnei Akiva movement.Akiva100 (talk) 22:26, 29 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
