Hebrew text in image
There's an open request at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Language asking for translation of the text in the accompanying image. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. —Sangdeboeuf (talk) 03:37, 9 December 2022 (UTC) `
Israel Antiquities Authority Survey website
The Israel Antiquities Authority Survey website is a useful tool for locating the exact location of archaeological sites and depopulated villages. It provides a bibliography, and good summary information. For example:
- https://www.antiquities.org.il/survey/new/default_en.aspx?pid=13873 This is the link for the depopulated village of Al-Bassa.
- https://www.antiquities.org.il/survey/new/default_en.aspx?pid=9009 This is the link for the depopulated village of Bayt Nuba, showing finds back to Hellenistic times

Gate identification help
Hey, someone uploaded this image to Commons, claiming it depicts Jerusalem's Lions' Gate some time in the late 1960s. Except it doesn't, numerous details do not fit. So the question is, what does it actually show? Users on Hebrew wiki have pointed out that Lions or Leopards are popular motifs of Sultan Baybars or Lebanon's Shihab dynasty. Also, since it was taken by an Israeli, likely depicts a location in Jerusalem, the West Bank or the Sinai. Any help would be appreciated. Poliocretes (talk) 15:24, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- Nice puzzle. Google image search shows similar motifs at Jisr Jindas and Hasbaya, confirming the connections made by the Hebrew-wiki editors. Am not convinced the net should be narrowed based on the image owner’s current nationality. Could be any of the major cities with Mamluk architecture. Onceinawhile (talk) 18:36, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- List of some locations of Baybars' lion blazon with inscription: [1] Onceinawhile (talk) 22:27, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
- A good find, thank you. 3 & 4 (Kerak & Ajlun) look like promising candidates, but no luck yet. Poliocretes (talk) 07:58, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

Request for help finding some sources to add to Ori Gordin
There's been a discussion at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Ori_Gordin relating to this article. I've found sources for most of the biographical details, but struggling to pin down "He was born in San Diego where his parents studied, and the family moved to Israel in 1971" also I can't see a definitive source that his mother was called Rachel. This may be in one of the sources over at הלל גורדין – ויקיפדיה (wikipedia.org) or he:אורי_גורדין but I'm not able to read them, would appreciate anyone sourcing the above either here, and I'll put it in, or at the article directly. - I think I've solved this myself with the help of Google translate! But still, feel free to validate that please. JeffUK 22:02, 5 January 2023 (UTC)
Request for sources to Yoel Drubin
Hello! There is an AfD for Yoel Drubin whose article claims that he is one of the main founders of the city of Rishon LeZion. As this is a major city and quite an impressive claim, it would be great to back it up with something concrete and not send this article to draft space. It has been unreferenced for over a decade, there is no Hebrew article, and only minoror passing references of him in English. If there are any Hebrew-speaking editors who would be interested in finding sources, it would be greatly appreciated! Best, Kazamzam (talk) 14:56, 6 January 2023 (UTC)

A recently added image (File:WasoszPomnik-467x437.jpg, uploaded by User:Paranorek) will be deleted b/c copyright. I tried looking in Polish and English for CC-friendly licenses, and nothing. Maybe someone can find something in Hebrew? If not, I guess we will just have to tag the article's talk page with {{Photo requested}} and wait?
