The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 14:34, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Shitty wizardDota 2  (talk · links · history · stats)     [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]

Extremely unlikely to be a valid search topic for the game. The term comes from an (mostly unused, at least these days) joke saying that many characters say in-game, but that doesn't make this a valid redirect. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 21:46, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: The term is strongly associated with Dota and is among the prevalent terms associated with it, in terms of popular culture. It's comparable to "the cake is a lie", with regards to Portal. DARTHBOTTO talkcont 21:35, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • I see no evidence that it was ever "strongly associated" with the game, either in 2011 and in the years since, else I'd agree with you. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 06:39, 10 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete "The cake is a lie" is discussed in quite some detail in WP:RS, e.g. PC Gamer [1], so it merits discussion in the Portal (video game) article per WP:PROPORTION. No similar-quality sources appear to exist for "shitty wizard" [2][3]. 59.149.124.29 (talk) 03:11, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The phrase isn't mentioned in the target or anywhere else, so the redirect isn't much use to anybody. "The cake is a lie" is mentioned in Portal (video game), so the comparison doesn't really hold up. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:37, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Heritage species

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was delete , noting that the underlying article is copied directly from that PCRBA webpage without evidence of permission (so it should have been deleted per WP:G12 instead of redirected). If this is to be recreated as a redirect, it would be wise to make sure the target discusses the term to avoid the confusion presented in this discussion. -- Tavix (talk) 15:44, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not the same thing - a breed is not a species, this can also refer to plants, and most uses of this term in Wikipedia are in the context of wildlife rather than agriculture. Peter James (talk) 17:41, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • I created this redirect as part of a merge, since originally someone actually created a duplicative article with this name. I did intentionally choose to create it rather than simply merge the page and then delete the redirect, since it's 1) not likely to be redirected to anything else 2) something a layman who doesn't understand the difference might search for, since "heritage breed" is a very common term that actually should also redirect to "rare breed". OTOH, if pageviews logging counts redirects from search correctly, it looks like this gets fewer than 100 hits per month? So not a big deal either way. Steven Walling • talk 21:03, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Don't delete. If content from the stub created here was merged then, per WP:MAD, we should not be deleting this. That doesn't preclude retargetting it if there is a better target but the current one is not implausible. Thryduulf (talk) 23:33, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • It wasn't merged so WP:MAD doesn't apply. The text was copied from the website used as a source (http://web.archive.org/web/20071108211025/http://www.pineywoodscattle.org/id19.html before the article was created) - there's no evidence of permission, but if it can be used in the article it can be attributed directly to the website. Peter James (talk) 14:38, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. The term isn't mentioned in the target, and isn't synonymous with the target, so the redirect strikes me as quite likely to cause confusion. From the history it doesn't look like a merge ever occurred, so I don't think there are any attribution issues. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:24, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently WP:NEO/WP:MADEUP. The phrase is defined in the talk page archives, but isn't attested outside Wikipedia. BDD (talk) 15:31, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete - term a) doesn't seem to really notably exist, and b) the redirect was created as a POV push for its now-blocked creator. cymru.lass (talkcontribs) 15:37, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Victoria sewage debate

The result of the discussion was delete. ~ Amory (utc) 14:35, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target article, or clear what this is referring to. Searching Victoria sewage in Wikipedia mostly returns results about Australia, such as Victoria Dam (Western Australia). A Google search returns more results related to Victoria, British Columbia. This should be deleted if there isn't a good place to point it. --BDD (talk) 15:28, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Google results and the stub that was briefly at this location refer to the controversy around the dumping of raw sewage in the Pacific Ocean by the city of Victoria, British Columbia. This seems quite likely to be a notable topic in its own right: the first page of Google results for "Victoria sewage debate" turns up lots of coverage in reliable sources, most of which dates to more than 10 years after this redirect was created. But "sewage" is mentioned nowhere in the Victoria, British Columbia article, and the controversy doesn't seem to be mentioned in any other article, so at present this is no use to anybody. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 20:25, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • A Girl in a Lower GradeDōkyūsei series  (talk · links · history · stats)     [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]

not mentioned in the article, not an official title. Could refer to Kakyusei, but that translates to underclassmen and not specifically to girls AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:55, 7 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per CoffeWithMarkets. Thryduulf (talk) 12:28, 17 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
However, that's not an official translation and is coming from the unreliable source / user-generated encyclopedia section of the website. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 03:08, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
That doesn't really matter for a redirect - what matters is (a) are people going to use this? and (b) if they do will they get to what they are looking for? The answer to both is yes. Thryduulf (talk) 08:33, 18 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per Thryduulf. Inclusion as an alternative name on ANN, even if unofficial, is a good indication that it is a commonly used English translation and therefore a likely search term. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 18:32, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Ideally this would be mentioned in the target, but it's hard to see how this could lead anybody to the wrong target or cause any confusion even without such a mention. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 22:14, 9 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep, which seems to be the emerging consensus after the disambiguation page was edited to include both major possibilities (to steal AngusWOOF's language). -- Tavix (talk) 15:22, 12 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hilāl (Arabic term)Hilal  (talk · links · history · stats)     [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]

There is no explicit mention of Arabic on the disambiguation page. But some Arabic terms (e.g. al-hilal al-ahmar "Red Crescent", Banū Hilāl a Bedouin tribe) may indeed be ambiguous. I don't know whether this redirect is helpful, or if simply using Hilāl without parenthesis would get readers more quickly to what they are looking for. Thoughts? Cnilep (talk) 07:47, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • FWIW, there is one incoming link, from Index of Islam-related articles. The link was added on 4 March 2012, and at that time the page was a dictionary definition of the Arabic word. It was changed to redirect to the disambiguation page on 23 September 2016. Cnilep (talk) 08:12, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Islamic calendar#Length of months where the term is explained and a link to Wiktionary is given. The word also appears in several other places in that article, but this is the first mention and the only one with an explanation. Thryduulf (talk) 09:43, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget per Thryduulf. ---- Patar knight - chat/contributions 13:52, 25 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Hilal as an Arabic term is as ambiguous as Hilal alone. I have improved the format of the disambiguation page at the current target. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 14:13, 26 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep the dab page explains the two major possibilities. If retargeted to calendar, then you would need a hatnote. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 20:42, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • @Shhhnotsoloud: The current target has not been edited since July, and the redirect hasn't been edited since I added the RfD tag. It's not clear to me which page were referring to in your 25 September comment. Cnilep (talk) 04:45, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Cnilep: I thought I'd made an edit but clearly I hadn't. It's now here. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 10:56, 6 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
