The Star (film)

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was Keep, consensus to keep as a plausible search term that cannot be pointed to a more specific target. --Taelus (talk) 00:03, 6 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This entry redirects to The Star which then lists all the disambigs, including all the film pages. There is no need for a The Star (film) when all the films have had their year inserted into the title, and the disambiguation has been changed from this page, the the proper page with the year in the title. This will ultimately get rid of the disambiguation as the remaining links will be redlined if they are pointing here and then it can be fixed to go to the proper film page. Until then, we can have yet another disambiguation page over here and instead of redirecting, we can list all the films, but that will just invite clutter. • Delete double redirect.
  • Delete I have already gone through and changed links that pointed here to the proper article. It is an incomplete disambiguation and thus probably won't be typed in the search bar. No need for it to be here. BOVINEBOY2008 :) 15:04, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep, I often type title (film) when I'm looking for a film. Polarpanda (talk) 15:43, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
comment if you omit (film) it will take you to the redirect page listing all the films. Yossiea (talk) 17:01, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This merely demonstrates that different people search differently - as mentioned in WP:RFD#KEEP. B.Wind (talk) 00:50, 29 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Polarpanda and {{R from incomplete disambiguation}}. This is a very logical search term for someone who knows Wikipedia's naming conventions but who doesn't know we have articles about more than one film by this name. Additionally I see no reason to break any external links and bookmarks that were created between 7 September 2005 and 14 March 2010 (12 days ago). Thryduulf (talk) 18:07, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
comment there is nothing linking to this page. All the links have been fixed by Bovineboy2008. If you do decide on keeping this page, then it should not be a redirect, but a disambiguation page to the two films. Yossiea (talk) 18:20, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
    • Lack of incoming internal links is not a reason to delete the page (see WP:RFD#HARMFULL - 4½ years counts as "reasonably old" in my book), and I don't see the need to maintain two separate disambiguation pages for just two items. Were there a lot of films then this would be a different matter, e.g. I would not object to their being a separate The Star (newspaper) dab page if others felt it worth splitting them off from the main dab (currently it redirects to The Star). Thryduulf (talk) 23:33, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep there are two films, neither of which should be the primary per WP:NCF, so the redirect "(film)" should redirect to the dab page. 76.66.194.32 (talk) 04:18, 27 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf. Tassedethe (talk) 10:53, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep - Makes sense, considering that there are two films. I often add "(film)" the end of a title when I want to avoid other non-film articles with the same name. Mostly per Thryduulf, Lord Spongefrog, (I am Czar of all Russias!) 19:59, 4 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Delete - not only is a doubly disambiguated title a violation of WP:NAME it is a most highly unlikely search item. B.Wind (talk) 07:11, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. Double disambiguation is a violation of WP:NAME. Disclosure: this was originally a disambiguation page until I moved it to the current target address. B.Wind (talk) 07:00, 26 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. as per B.Wind. Buckshot06 (talk) 05:16, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
