The guy who is in rehab

The result of the discussion was Deleted as unsourced negative BLP (G10). The article does not have any claims, much less sourced ones, that he's currently in rehab. -- JLaTondre (talk) 21:47, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete – The redirect makes no sense as a lot of people are in rehab. TheLeftorium 21:24, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

10ds

The result of the discussion was delete--Aervanath (talk) 23:17, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion - redirect is a novel or very obscure synonym for an article name, it is unlikely to be useful. The redirect makes no sense. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.153.233.106 (talkcontribs)

  • keep. I created it because I found a need for it, it is apparently quite a common quiz puzzle. I am not in the habit creating uselsee redirects. MickMacNee (talk) 14:46, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Response: Would it not would be more appropriate to mention that 10ds is a synonym in the 10 Downing Street article (with proper references of course), rather than using a redirect? However, I don't believe this is an established term. Per 1 "If a redirect is not an established term and is unlikely to be used by searchers, it is unlikely to be useful".
      • It is of no use mentioning it in the article, because the point of the quiz is, what is the answer to the puzzle, "1Ods". And I'm hardly going to agree it is unlikely to be used by searchers, because that is exactly what I did. At the end of the day, deleting it gains nothing, it isn't in the way of any better target, and redirects are cheap. MickMacNee (talk) 17:26, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep for now. It appears to be part of some school quiz, as asserted by the redirect's creator and this Yahoo! Answers link. However, this support is weak as I can't find anything else on it. JulieSpaulding (talk) 17:50, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment — When I first saw "10ds" I expected a redirect to Coins of the pound sterling or to Penny (British pre-decimal coin). Am I the only one to make that association? Maybe there should be a hatnote Redirect at 10 Downing Street: for the British pre-decimal coin "penny" (d), see …. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 05:17, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • The idea of the Hatnote to the penny (d) coin seems appropriate. I'm still not convinced that 10ds is an established term for 10 Downing Street, and would prefer to delete this redirect altogether. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.168.167.99 (talk • contribs) 10:56, June 5, 2009
  • Delete – Of all the hits a search for "10ds" brings up, only one seems to have any relation to 10 Downing Street. The others are all either part of the string "top 10 DS games" or part of the name of some product or software. Aside from the Yahoo Answers! page, I could not find any other instance to support this use of the redirect. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 18:26, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics

The result of the discussion was delete--Aervanath (talk) 23:13, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is not an appropriate redirection page, as this department could exist in other universities than University of Patras --Assassingr (talk) 08:58, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • delete as per nom. PaulJones (talk) 18:36, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – This redirect could be used for many universities. American Eagle (talk) 02:30, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete excessively generic redirect to overly specific instance. 70.29.208.129 (talk) 04:38, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. While most Google hits for "Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics" actually are about the University of Patras, the name is generic enough that it is sure to be used at several institutions. For instance, it seems that the University of Belgrade has such a department; see here. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 18:17, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Talkback

The result of the discussion was no consensus--Aervanath (talk) 23:12, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seems unnecessary. I doubt we need a redirect for every template. Jack Merridew 05:07, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep Keep - this is one of the very few where I would keep an interspace redirect. It's of value only for very new users who haven't yet figured out how the namespaces work, and these are the same users who haven't figured out yet how more experienced editors keep a watchlist and keep an eye on the threads they start on other user talk pages. However, many newer users like that tb thing, so why not make it easier for them to find it when they're in a state of confusion? Franamax (talk) 13:54, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong Keep Very useful and helps users still not familar with interspace redirects.Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 20:55, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep – Useful redirect, not breaking policy, harmless. American Eagle (talk) 21:12, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Week keep I was not sure weather or not it would be useful, so I created it, to be on the safe side. Also it is easier to type wp::Talkback then it is to type Template:Talkback, but maybe there is a shortcut for the Template namespace that I do not know about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Emmette Hernandez Coleman (talkcontribs) 12:44, 1 June 2009
  • weak delete: Mostly harmless, but mostly useless. Perhaps a description of tl should be added to Wikipedia:Template namespace, Help:Template, and Help:Link to make it easier to find the easiest way to link to a template. ~ Ningauble (talk) 16:34, 2 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, non-useful redirect. Stifle (talk) 08:26, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete – As Franamax notes, many newer users like this template. However, I take that to mean that they like using the template, and it's easier to do that by typing tb or talkback than or . In the end, I think that this rediect would lead to more confusion (about namespaces and transclusion) than clarity. The nominator is correct: we almost never need cross-namespace redirects for templates. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 17:10, 4 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - downgraded my keep recommendation to match that of the creator. Also I followed up on Ningauble's (somewhat unrelated) suggestion and added some verbiage about tl into the various help pages. [2] [3] [4] Polishing of these small gems is welcome (or smashing with a large hammer). :) Franamax (talk) 12:25, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

List of opera singers

The result of the discussion was delete both--Aervanath (talk) 23:05, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete. Wikipedia doesn't have a "List of opera singers"; the target is a delete-worthy article. (I believe it had been proposed for deletion with a speedy result; I don't understand why it's still there.) Michael Bednarek (talk) 04:10, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • delete as the target is not a list of people. PaulJones (talk) 18:38, 29 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Note: Nomination refactored for brevity at 18:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC). See prior version. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 18:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both per nom and PaulJones. The redirect is misleading since it leads to a list of voice types rather than a list of people. The target article itself is basically redundant to Voice type and could be deleted. –BLACK FALCON (TALK) 18:14, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete both as not really useful. Tavix |  Talk  19:35, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
