I found a high-resolution freely licensed image containing the logo, although in different colors. Would it make sense to extract the logo from that image and use it in the article instead? Ixfd64 (talk) 00:16, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

replaced with extracted logo from CC BY-SA 3.0 IGO file, see File:JUICE mission insignia.png. Artem.G (talk) 07:50, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This photo was uploaded by a person pictured within the photo, who then gives all the permissions and such, but a person pictured within a photo is not the copyright holder for an image (the photographer is) unless the creator of the photograph signs over such rights: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Brian_Engler-Dave_Barry_%26_The_Fairfax_Prize-Close-up_9-22-2013.JPG This is clearly not a "selfie" since the left-side subject's hands could not be holding the camera taking the image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.184.201.108 (talk) 06:07, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That indeed looks like a copyright violation. However, the image is on Commons, so you'll have to nominate it for deletion there. In the future, please start a new discussion instead of "hijacking" an FfD for another file. Thanks. Ixfd64 (talk) 18:02, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The logo as it currently stands is an inaccurate representation of the source, [1]. How did this get so badly borked? Sammi Brie (she/her • tc) 17:21, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Tagged as PD-ineligible-USonly on the basis that it's a triangle, a letter and a logo. I'd argue that putting those three items together requires creative input, especially as the letter is hand-drawn. There's just slightly too much going on here to make it public domain. That said, there's a fair use argument that could be made, although possibly not as the image is currently being used. — Trey Maturin 17:41, 16 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as is. This is a simple geometric shape and basic text. Well below the threshold of originality per c:COM:TOO US. plicit 23:42, 23 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
