The result of the discussion was: delete. Also, alternative cover pages are pretty much as a matter of routine deleted, I've seen plenty of precedent on this. Jo-Jo Eumerus (talk, contributions) 06:55, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Cover for japanese release of an album. There is already a cover being used as primary means of identification. There is no need for an extra cover. Contravenes WP:NFCC#3a. Whpq (talk) 01:37, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • The image in question is not a cover for an album, but a single. There are hundreds of other pages with “Alternative Covers” to singles and albums. This image brightens up the page and it allows the viewer to see something that they were not exposed to in America, Canada, etc, as this image was only released in Japan. It should not be removed or deleted. Pages such as "You Shook Me All Night Long" have an alternative cover. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LilJohnnyWimple (talkcontribs) 02:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete Per Nom, There are 2 covers for the same song. The original Worldwide release can be kept and the Newer Japanese release pic can be deleted. Contravenes WP:NFCC#3a. The song lacks wide spread notability like the AC DC song quoted above to justify a second image for the song.--DBigXray 16:47, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The cover in mention is not the original cover but it is the cover used for the Re-recorded version from 2009. The re-recorded version uses a whole different lineup and singer. The image is not for “primary means of identification” but to show an image for a completely different recording. The image in question should not be removed or deleted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by LilJohnnyWimple (talkcontribs) 01:44, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

the 2009 recording is not of any particular note. So I would also add that it fails WP:NFCC#8 and is also misplaced in the article as it shold not be in the infobox since it is not an alternate cover ansd thus us also misleading to the reader. -- -Whpq (talk) 00:28, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notwithstanding that this was explicitly non-commerical on the file description page, from 2005. I am wondering based on the term of office of the political figure concerned and noted source, if this is now a crown copyright that may have expired, 1961+50 being 2011 or so. Also it would be nice to know if Australian crown copyrights are (are not.) subject to URAA restorations?

When do Australian crown copyrights expire? ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 12:37, 15 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete  ¶  Adam Carr (talk · contribs) claims to have received permission from AUSPIC for the use of this photo by Wikipedia only. The appropriate file copyright tag would therefore be {{permission from license selector}}. That tag says to instead use "one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file." The file description page uses {{non-free fair use in}} which requires "a detailed non-free use rationale for each use, as well as the source of the work and all available copyright information." In lieu of a rationale, the uploader claims that "The use of this image by Wikipedia is contended by Australian Wikipedians to be fair dealing in Australia and fair use in the United States." What the file needs is the explanation of that contention via-à-vis the non-free file criteria; lacking that, this does not meet muster.  — fourthords | =Λ= | 17:34, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Fourthords: I don't follow the rationale for deletion. It sounds like you're saying it needs a different NFCC template, not that it needs to be deleted. The note about permission is entirely moot as it didn't go through OTRS and thus effectively doesn't exist for our purposes. It's also not a licensing issue -- just them saying "yep, looks like fair use". We determine that on our end. I don't know the answer regarding whether the copyright would have expired, but in either case it doesn't seem like deletion is the right outcome -- if copyright is expired, then reformat it as such and/or transfer to Commons; if not, it just needs a NFCC template as the fair use claim does seem valid. — Rhododendrites talk \\ 17:48, 9 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorry for being so wordy last week. This file fails WP:NFCC#8 as it's presence isn't necessary for readers to understand anything written at the page Donald Alastair Cameron. This file fails WP:NFCC#10c as it lacks a detailed non-free use rationale for its use. Lastly, I cannot speak as to whether the copyright of this file has expired; I assume it has not barring evidence to the contrary, but if it has, that's fantastic. — fourthords | =Λ= | 00:25, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - I don;t know if the copyright is expired, but taking the conservative approach, the use of the image as the primary means of visual identification for a deceased person is generally accepted under the non-free content guidelines as sufficient context. -- Whpq (talk) 00:23, 12 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contested PROD. The uploader is claiming to be the copyright holder as they scanned this images from a fan club photo. However, scanning an image does not transfer the copyright. Whpq (talk) 12:26, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Contested PROD. Uploader found this image on a web site with no explicit copyright notice on the page and has claimed that it is public domain becasue of the lack of a notice. Fails WP:NFCC#3a: this file is used in the history section of the Natural Lands Trust article, but the same logo (but in SVG format) is also used in the in main infobox. The article only needs to contain the logo once. Also, judging from the organisation's website, this is not the current logo. Also, the file information page fails WP:NFCC#9. Stefan2 (talk) 20:22, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: Two versions of the same file are not needed per WP:NFCC#3a, so this png is redundant to the svg. The NFCC#9 issue is something which was easily fixed by tweaking the {{Vector version available}} template using the |nonfree= parameter, so that's no longer an issue. -- Marchjuly (talk) 23:45, 15 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's a possible copyright violation because the only sources are to Facebook, and while one of the links does not 404 for me it has no indication of permissions. I've replaced it with an unambiguous free file in the mean time. Habst (talk) 23:54, 11 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
