Nominator's rationale: WP:SMALLCAT. More appropriate to merge to county-level and town cat. –Aidan721 (talk) 19:14, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Propose deleting Category:Imperialist works (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Nominator's rationale: Unlike Category:Works about imperialism, I cannot see a common thread joining these works, ranging from Left Behind to "What Russia Should Do with Ukraine". –LaundryPizza03 (d) 14:29, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete by lack of clear inclusion criteria. Surely this is not for works by advocates of imperialism. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:54, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per the arguments by the nominator and Marcocapelle. Also, it might violate NPOV, as it looks like the person was using it to say the literature in the category was done by imperialists, where imperialists are bad (not disagreeing that may were, such as Hitler since Mein Kampf is listed, but that becomes a judgment). Aboutmovies (talk) 22:16, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: rename. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 07:21, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Match #Category:Institutions run by Mata Amritanandamayi Math below, as well as others such as Category:Deccan Education Society. This is the only remaining "Institutions run by" category.
William Allen Simpson (talk) 11:33, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was: keep. (non-admin closure) Qwerfjkltalk 07:22, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nominator's rationale: Single-entry alumni category for a high school. As always, this would be fine if there were five or ten people to file here, but it's not warranted as a WP:SMALLCAT for just one person. Bearcat (talk) 03:31, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - I agree with this nomination. I am not able to find anyone else on Wikipedia that has this school on their page. Threevian (talk) 03:49, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom. Marcocapelle (talk) 03:49, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the 'unless' clause of WP:SMALLCAT. I found another 2 from earlier versions of the school. It's not clear why this one has been singled out from Category:People educated by school in Wales, where several have only 1. Oculi (talk) 02:26, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because I found this while working from the list of uncategorized categories, not from a category. Bearcat (talk) 14:58, 24 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I'd done the 2 in subcategory this morning after its discussion closed, then found more where the article was in both parent and (university) child categories. Since there were only a few to start, that effectively emptied it.

  • Propose deleting Category:Major League Soccer MVP award winners (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Nominator's rationale: Redundant to Category:Major League Soccer MVPs‎, an existing category. SounderBruce 09:16, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
That's right. Category:Major League Soccer MVP award winners and Category:Major League Soccer MVPs are same category about MLS MVP winners.
Category name of Category:Major League Soccer MVPs is little bit vague, especially non English native speaker.
For a clarity and consistency with other title of sports MVP categories, I want to change the category name to Category:Major League Soccer MVP award winners like Category:Major League Baseball MVP award winners
What do you think of my opinion?

I don't understand, Footwiks. What articles are you going to move? As I said, the category has been emptied. Liz Read! Talk! 01:08, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I mean, MLS award winners such as Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Landon Donovan, Currentely these players are classified as Category:Major League Soccer MVPs‎
For a clarity and consistency with other title of sports MVP categories, I want to classify MLS award winners as Category:Major League Soccer MVP award winners‎.Footwiks (talk) 02:39, 23 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: Not precise enough to understand the purpose of these categories, which are about trans-Neptunian object in various orbital resonances with Neptune. By convention, it is not necessary to specify Neptune for resonant TNOs. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 12:42, 21 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: For consistency with the parent and sub-category. Mitch Ames (talk) 04:27, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • There is not one consistently used format, we also have e.g. Category:Australian Aboriginal cultural history and Category:Films about Aboriginal Australians. Marcocapelle (talk) 07:28, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It's true that we don't have consistency everywhere, and it would be better if we did. In the meantime, we can fix individual categories where it is reasonable. For my specific proposal, note that "Aboriginal" is a subset of "Indigenous" (the latter also includes Torres Strait Islanders), so the current "Massacres of Indigenous Australians" as a subcat of "Violence against Aboriginal Australians" is not just inconsistent, it is incorrect. Mitch Ames (talk) 13:08, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Rename — for consistency here, and to encourage future consistency. The main article is Indigenous Australians.
    William Allen Simpson (talk) 11:45, 29 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Strong oppose until the wider array of naming is standardised at the larger project, piecemeal and random changes such as these do not help going toward any reasonable process of commonly agreed determination of what acceptable usage actually is. Consistency at this point is of no help to anyone, and is not 'reasonable'. JarrahTree 02:10, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • WP:IDLI, WP:CITINGGREATERPROBLEMS. It's already been "standardised at the larger project". The nominator has already pointed to the existing parent and children. I've already showed the main article. We generally don't do dozens or hundreds of categories (waste of tagging and processing time), we do them piecemeal as exemplars. After discussion here is closed, others are handled speedily.
      William Allen Simpson (talk) 03:44, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • until the wider array of naming is standardised at the larger project — Please provide a link to the relevant discussions about addressing this problem - I look forward to reading your positive suggestions and contributions about how to address the matter. Mitch Ames (talk) 04:17, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Consistency at this point is of no help to anyone, and is not 'reasonable'. — As I previously mentioned, independently of consistency, the current category structure is factually wrong - Indigenous Australians‎ are not a subset of Aboriginal Australians, so Massacres of Indigenous Australians‎ cannot be a subcategory of Violence against Aboriginal Australians. However I'm happy consider your alternative proposal for fixing the factual error. Mitch Ames (talk) 04:17, 30 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: These do not actually exist, and are not common usage. Very recent creation that interferes with well established naming conventions. May require MANUAL REVERT to previous categories.
