Speedy deletion nomination of File:Graduate Institute Geneva Student Residence.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Graduate Institute Geneva Student Residence.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Replaceable fair use File:HouseOfPeace.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:HouseOfPeace.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 20:44, 3 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

copyright issue - image deleted

Hi There. I've deleted your image File:Maison de la paix, Geneve, 2014.jpg as it is simply a cropped version of one from a website visible here. Please note that editing an image does not make it possible to claim it is "self-made" or upload here under a free licence - Peripitus (Talk) 01:58, 4 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi Robinsonodora! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor at List of alumni of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia – it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Eric Suy moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, Eric Suy, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). Proposed deletion of Svein Andresen

Notice

The article Svein Andresen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not enough in-depth coverage to meet WP:GNG.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi my friend. I hope you are fine. I have removed a lot of unreferenced information from this page. The new page review is one of the last approval stages, so when I see a page like this with a large amount of unreferenced information, and no {{In use}} tag to show that the page is undergoing a major build, I tend to err on the side of caution and remove the unreferenced information. The easiest solution is for you to add the tag to indicate the page is still under construction (if it is). This prevents me and other editors from editing the page until the process is complete and the tag is removed. Please assume good faith of me, as I do of you. By all means add the information again when you can add the references. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 01:28, 17 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

COI?

Dear Robinsonodora, you are a prolific contributor to wikipedia pages related to The Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, including its faculty and alumni. To have a single-purpose account is of course allowed. Some single-purpose accounts, however, are used by editors who have a conflict of interest or clear link with the topic. This is strongly discouraged but allowed as well. Furthermore, it should be disclosed by the user, certainly when a user is paid to edit wikipedia, for instance by a PR agency. Do you have a conflict of interest? Then you are strongly discouraged from editing affected articles directly. Please disclose your COI if this is the case. CBJH (talk) 18:29, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Robinsonodora again, could you kindly respond to my inquiry? The Conflict of interest noticeboard should "only be used when ordinary talk page discussion has been attempted and failed to resolve the issue," but without a response, I will need to discuss the issue on the COI noticeboard, certainly because the Graduate Institute wikipedia page has a history of edits by users with a conflict of interest. Still hoping to get a response on your talk page. CBJH (talk) 09:00, 20 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I translated these pages, so these people are notable in some communities where these languages are spoken. Shouldn't we take that into consideration -- that these are translations? I'd appreciate your feedback. Thank you (also, I don't work for anyone. I'm just interested in that school and its impact). Robinsonodora (talk) 15:20, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Other wikis have different standards for notability. Ambassadors are not inherently notable, so there needs to be in-depth coverage of them in independent, reliable sources. If you can find some for each of these folks, then they'd be okay for inclusion. Ping me if you add any sourcing and want me to take another look. Onel5969 TT me 18:49, 2 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Gotcha thank you. There won't be any for Linus von Castelmur, Kwami Christophe Dikenou and Elyes Ghariani. For Andreas Guibeb, I added more background and re-submitted. He was CEO of a national airline and arranged for an important post-colonial relic to be repatriated. In view of that, I think he is notable. Robinsonodora (talk) 01:19, 3 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. "Minor edit" has a very specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Please see Help:Minor edit for more information. Thank you. Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. To help yourself remember, you may wish to check the "prompt me when entering a blank edit summary" box in your preferences. Thanks! NM 06:25, 20 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, the banner regarding undisclosed payments should be removed. I am one of the article's main contributors, and I can confirm and assure you I'm doing this for fun, and I'm neither paid or directed to do this. Thank you. Robinsonodora (talk) 17:43, 26 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Do you see it? Thank you Sera Robinsonodora (talk) 21:33, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, now I do, now that you say you put it in the wrong place. New discussions go to the bottom of a talk page, not the top. So, when you put a discussion where no one would ever have looked for it, it is not surprising that no one responded. Please put a new discussion at the bottom of the talk page, if you want to discuss it. Seraphimblade Talk to me 23:41, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
oh gotcha, thank you will do. Robinsonodora (talk) 20:09, 8 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hey hi again. So I re-published my comment following your instructions. No one is engaging. Can we proceed with removing the message I had tried to remove? (This one: This article may have been created or edited in return for undisclosed payments, a violation of Wikipedia's terms of use. It may require cleanup to comply with Wikipedia's content policies, particularly neutral point of view. (November 2023)) Robinsonodora (talk) 23:32, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
