Do you know why there is a gap added by using the break character in the infobox template in articles such as James Gibbons. The gap looks awkward, as if there is a line of text that is missing. It is created by adding a break character before the person's name. If it is a style that has been agreed on, we should add it to the template directly, but to my eye it looks awkward. What do you think? Is it possible it is there just to add more color to the infobox? Look at James Roosevelt Bayley for one where I removed the gap. @Sibadd: I love the Scops Owl; I heard and saw my first in Majorca in April. I wouldn't worry about the rating - they're explained at Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team/Assessment, but most people don't bother to notice them. I would try, if you can, to give inline citations. Which source, for instance, says that the owl represents "a fast changing pastoral economy..."? Overall, though the article is sound and well past the minimum requirements to avoid deletion. Can you start an article on Ano Korakiana? I confess that I also fell for the first impression. We know from the case that looking at a diff without context can result in strange evaluation. Do you remember that you reportedly deliberately parachuted into infobox editing disputes in such contentious areas (causing the comment "concerns me deeply"), where all you did was uncollapsing an infobox and placing it in the normal position. Looking through Category:NHS hospital trusts, several of the others use a bespoke table in a similar manner. Hi Andy. I'm having rather didactic advice from another [editor] recommending immediate removal of a citation in the article I started recently. This editor is unwilling to discuss my contention that a citation - a public domain letter from Seamus Heaney to the subject also quoted in a book review of Pine's work - is not necessarily a primary source (I do know the rules). Chris Troutman seems to imply I might even have faked the letter in question, and that I "claim" to have degrees, and referring to "resorting to a website". I have no idea what he means. I don't feel inclined to get into an argument with someone prepared to write to me in these terms. QUOTE You asked for my suggestions; I replied. If you don't want the facts don't ask for them. Obviously, you are way out of your depth. I find it sad that someone whom claims to have degrees resorts to a website to publish their thoughts. If you can't contribute according to our norms, take your ball and go home. Andy, I would like to add a 40 second video to Sip 'n Dip Lounge, but am not sure if that's a good idea (I have video of the piano player, "Piano Pat") I know you do the audio recording stuff, maybe you could help me out in terms of how much compression, etc. I once figured out how to export video into a commons-compatible format (with this little animation of still photos ) but I don't know if I used the best format, etc. Help? @Montanabw: Sounds good. We need more video. You can only upload video in an open format. I've never done video converison or compression for Commons, so regrettably can't help, but you could ask at Commons:Village pump. One thing though - what music is the pianist playing? If it's out of copyright, that's OK, but if not (if it's modern) that would be an issue. I assume you have PP's permission? I don't follow how the lightning talks are going to happen, nor how I would sign up, and I would suspect I am not the only one. I have given several 2 minute lightning talks at the NYC chapter meetings, so I know how they are done. I am after your advice as I believe you are experienced and knowledgeable enough to point me in the right direction. It is related to the current Persondata RfC.

On a personal level, I just want a reliable source of birth and death dates. I am currently working on a comparison of Persondata and Wikidata, see User:Periglio/Wikidata. This has already revealed a large discrepancy and I am digging deeper to find out where the problem is. It has already confirmed that there is nothing in place to keep Wikipedia and Wikidata synchronised.

Ultimately, I want to see Wikidata becoming the reliable source, which is where you come in. I have the technology to write bots that will interrogate pages, updating pages or flagging problems. I have been a Wikipedia editor since 2006, but Wikidata is new to me so I am not sure where to start. Where is a good place to introduce myself? Periglio (talk) 10:23, 4 August 2014 (UTC)

@Periglio: Firstly, note that there is equally nothing in place to keep Wikipedia article content and Persondata synchronised. Your introduction would best be made at wikidata:Project chat, the equivalent of our Village Pumps. You might also like to sign up to Wikidata's low-traffic mailing list. Thanks for that. In reply to your note - Persondata does have the advantage of appearing in the edit screens. It does get updated, although I am not claiming that it always kept in sync. In fact, I have detected vandalism because the vandal missed Persondata. Having said that, I have found myself agreeing with your comment on the RfC - supporting persondata removal, but temporarily retaining it until some action plan is in place. Hi Pigsonthewing, I was looking at the List of Gaelic Athletic Association stadiums where I saw how you added a column for gps coordinates. A long time ago I know, but that doesn't really matter for my question. As a new wikipedian, adding coordinates seems like it would be simple but now that I look at it I can't seem to get my head around it. Considering you have experience with adding gps coordinates before and after taking a seconds glance at your (unending list of) contributions, I figured you'd be the guy to ask! Is adding coordinates as simple as getting them off google earth or walking out to the place with gps then editing the page with the coordinates you got? But each of the coordinates link to a website called 'Geohack' Do I need to create a page here first for the coordinates before putting them on wikipedia?
