Draft:World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017

Hi. This is to inform you that I've moved World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017 to Draft:World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017 (per WP:DRAFTIFY) as the article at the time had no references and lots of empty sections. In fact, the page move was made several days ago, and I apologize for not informing you sooner. Hope you'll continue to work on Draft:World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017 and once it's ready, it can be moved back to the mainspace. Bennv3771 (talk) 07:39, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm completely OK with that, and I should've started this article in the "Draft" namespace first. I noticed the page move and added some informations on it (I'll continue, and I shouldn't be alone for that). Thank you! Julio974 (talk) 08:16, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Speedcubing

Hello again (this time on English wikipedia). I noticed you added a table of "WRs per country" to the speedcubing article. But it just sits at the very bottom of the article. I personally think that table isn't really necessary at all - you can find all the same information in the WR-table. But if we intend to keep it, it needs to move to some place in the article where it fits. Judith Sunrise (talk) 18:18, 29 September 2018 (UTC) Edit: Ah the placement seems to have been a syntax error (wikitable wasn't closed, so the rest of the article got squashed in between). Judith Sunrise (talk) 18:26, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry for that error, I didn't notice it as I was only editing the concerned section, it appeared at the bottom of the section so I didn't noticed the error. I'll try being more attentive for next edits. Julio974 (talk) 18:58, 29 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I fixed the syntax error, but I still think the table is superfluous and inflates the article unnecessarily. Can you give me a reason why it should stay? Judith Sunrise (talk) 20:10, 30 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Why not just make it collapsible? It would take less space for the same amount of information! Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 18:02, 1 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But why do we need it at all? If all the information is already in the other table. Judith Sunrise (talk) 15:08, 4 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:World Rubik's Cube Championship 2017

New Zealand opinion poll graphs

In File:Opinion polling for the 2020 New Zealand general election.svg and File:Opinion polling for the 2020 New Zealand general election (zoomed on smaller parties).svg, the legend is missing the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand, which is the green line between 8 and 5%. Please add it. Less important, but the colours for TOP and NCP look very similar to my aging eyes, and because these parties have similar polling it's important for their lines to be distinct.-gadfium 22:09, 27 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, this will soon be fixed! Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 14:28, 28 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

NYC mayoral polls

Nice work! Question - might it make sense, since Quinn is not running (and has dropped off the polls), to move her to the "other" category in the polls? Rather than distract readers? That also gives room, if you think it makes sense, to add another column of a candidate (other than her or Rose) who is in fact running. --2603:7000:2143:8500:5051:8E5:1B15:55B (talk) 20:53, 25 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with your custom signature

Hello, I'm sending you this note because you need to update your signature. You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. Your signature does not link to your account. This is usually because your account has been renamed.

To fix your signature, you need to find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences and either blank it or change the link to your current account name. More information is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. mw:New requirements for user signatures/Help#Wrong user links. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures.

Splintered votes

As far as I'm aware (and confirmed by sources like this), 'splintered' votes are cast for unofficial/independent candidates. 'Uncertain' would also be votes cast for parties, but it's just not known which. In both cases, a seat win is possible, so should have a 0. The only case in which no seats should be shown is if the votes were invalid, in which case they shouldn't be in a party row anyway.

I think it might be best to rename 'Splintered' as 'Others' (which they are a subcategory of in your source, which also infers they are valid votes for candidates rather than invalid votes), as it's not common terminology for elections in English (it just seems to have been translated directly from German). Number 57 12:17, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I thought "zerspillert" meant something similar to undervotes. Thanks for checking and correcting. Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 12:25, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. Also you'll have seen I reverted some of your meta colour changes. There is a whole series of seat diagrams (e.g. File:Alemania Reichstag 1871.svg) that use the original colours, and changing them meant that the diagram at the top of the results table in articles like 1871 German federal election didn't match the party colour bar underneath. Cheers, Number 57 13:04, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There is a problem with these seats diagrams: they don't use the existing color scheme either (the existing maps on the Weimar republic elections don't use any regular set of colors, and the new diagrams are made for the spanish wiki's color scheme). I'm planning to upload a series of parliament diagrams using common colors (mostly taken from the german wiki and from existing maps), and change the colors back to a color scheme (more similar to the german one). Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 13:10, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Changing results – full update required

Re your changes to the results tables of the various elections, if you change the figures in the results table, you also need to update the infoboxes. You've left articles like 1874 German federal election with different sets of numbers in the results table and infobox, while August 1867 North German federal election has a differing numbers of seats and seat changes.

Also, parties should be listed by votes received, you should use – as the minus symbol, not -. Cheers, Number 57 16:20, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you're going to be having to make some major edits to the infobox, it might be worth switching it to {{Infobox legislative election}}, which is a far more effective summary than {{Infobox election}}, as you can list all the parties that won seats (not just the top 6/9). Cheers, Number 57 18:44, 21 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

off wikipedia note

Hey julio, I know this is extremely unconventional, but I need to relay a message to the people over on the Mock elections discord. I am currently unable to access discord, and I am just trying to get a message. Can you tell the people over on the discord (especially beady) that I won't be on Discord for a bit, but that I haven't disappeared. Also, can you add Template:Election results to the wiki, I'm gonna try my hand applying it to the senate elections. Thank you.

(I'm Danni0li/Pogi0li btw)

Thanks BigCheese76 (talk) 13:16, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

sorry about this.

Alright, just dropped a screenshot of your message (also, first time someone contacts me via WP). I'm not going to use the Election results template, I found another way of doing it that allows to put in coalitions. I hope you can come back soon on the server. Thanks, I haven't been on for 2 1/2 weeks, and I hope today or tomorrow is the day I get back online. Thank you!

Translations

Thanks for creating Fundamental principles recognized by the laws of the Republic. You'll see that I've made a bunch of edits to it, partially for grammar and style, partially for referencing and other things. If you are using machine translation to assist you with this, please make sure you edit the output text for accuracy and proper grammar and style in English. I assume you know to watch for such things such as false friends: for example, the section header Apparition might work fine in French for original "appearance" of the law, but the word apparition in English is more like a "ghost" or a "phantom". There are various other tips which help to make a good translated article, including:

I hope this helps. I've done lots of translations (without the ContentTranslation tool, which I tried for a while and then let go) and if you need any tips on doing more translations, please feel free to contact me on my Talk page. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 02:07, 2 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I must say, I'm impressed by the template you created. Is it possible you could adapt it for various parliaments, i.e. UK House of Commons? ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 13:31, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Thanks, though I just ported the template from Italian Wikipedia, the original (it:Modulo:Diagramma parlamentare) was made by @M. casanova:. It's possible to port directly the Westminster-style diagram code from the original tool to Lua but I don't know if it's allowed by the software license. Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 14:19, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Is there anyone you can think you could talk to? If not, you could contact this user, as he is an admin :) ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 14:22, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I suppose @Slashme: could help, since he created the original tool! Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 14:30, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
That'd be a good idea :) I'd like for it to include a ton of parliaments that aren't hemispherical. ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 14:34, 5 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

You can absolutely use the code for any tool that helps Wikimedia projects! --Slashme (talk) 11:07, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What I'm asking, @Slashme:, is if you could alter it to account for various different parliaments that are hemispherical. ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 11:11, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Right now I have very little free time, which is something I hope to change in the medium term, but it means that I'm not able to do much useful work at the moment. Sorry!! --Slashme (talk) 11:15, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay :) ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 11:17, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!! Julio974 (Talk-Contribs) 09:05, 7 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A comment about non-hemispherical parliaments: the idea was to create diagrams that quickly and easily show the user how many representatives each party in a parliament has, not to represent the seating plan of any specific parliament. The Westminster style diagram is intended to show the logical structure of a legislature with government, opposition and non-aligned members, with a speaker or other office-bearers. It's also not intended to directly reflect a seating plan. That's an intentional choice in representation of data, the idea being to show the information that's most useful to the reader: who is in the legislature, not where they sit. However, it's a matter of opinion whether that's important or not. --Slashme (talk) 11:12, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. However, as it is a really good template, could you possibly alter it, as it will save time on uploading images of parliament image that might be out of date, or have the wrong colouring. ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 11:15, 6 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ValenciaThunderbolt: - Sorry, I don't understand the request. What alteration do you need? --Slashme (talk) 12:55, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Slashme: - Just want to let you know, someone edited the National Assembly and said that it isn't compatible with mobile. When you have the time, could you make it so please :) ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 20:54, 8 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@ValenciaThunderbolt: - I just tested it on mobile and it works fine. Maybe ask them for more details on what didn't work? --Slashme (talk) 12:53, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Slashme: - Will do, all they said is that it wouldn't appear on mobile. Maybe it isn't compatible with an older OS (if it is that)? As for the message above, I've scored the bit out, as you've already replied to it :) ValenciaThunderbolt (talk) 13:57, 12 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
