Greetings user:Kaleeb18, thank you for reviewing afc submissions. State legislators are considered notable. This one is particularly interesting and notable in several respects. Your rejection above this one is also of a state legislator. “Choppy sentences” is not appropriate grounds for rejecting a submission and you are most welcome to expand on these entries and improve the wording and sentence structure as you see fit. Wikipedia is a collaborative enterprise. I am impressed with what I saw of you article submissions and wish you all the best. Have a great summer. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:07, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
If I may, I don't see why it wouldn't hurt for you to at least try and get the spelling mechanics right in a paragraph-long submission ("aling" and "onnthe")? -Indy beetle (talk) 00:14, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
Fixed. Thanks for pointing those mistakes out. Fixing mistakes doesn’t hurt me a bit. I do it all the time. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:25, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
The Terry Sanford article you submitted for GA states “ Sanford served as Governor of North Carolina from 1961 1965” in the opening paragraph. I try to avoid using the phrase “a number of”. 0 is a number. 1 is a number. 2 is a number, on up. It clutters things is unencyclopedic and doesn’t tell the reader anything. It should be left out. “Best known for” is also a frequent offender Wikipedia’s use. I mention it here only because it’s so annoyingly pervasive, I didn’t see it in the entry you’re working on. Take care. FloridaArmy (talk)
I never said that Choppy sentences was the reason I declined I just made that comment. It seem as though the second reference might be the only reliable source in that article and according to WP:THREE (although it is not a policy) there should be at bare minimum three. You say it is notable but according to WP:POLITICIAN it says "Just being an elected local official, or an unelected candidate for political office, does not guarantee notability, although such people can still be notable if they meet the general notability guideline." ― Kaleeb18TalkCaleb 00:31, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
The key word there is “local” User:Kaleeb18 and the sentence preceding it notes that statewide officials are considered notable. Neither entry has a single reliable source. You’re welcome to expand them and add additional sourcing. Often 19th and early 20th century sources are harder to come by but they are out there. Thanks again. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:37, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
hmm @Primefac: do we accept the drafts for politicians (presuming the politician is notable) even if the sources in the draft may not be reliable? ― Kaleeb18TalkCaleb 00:41, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Moved it to article-space; polished it up fractionally. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:22, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

One of my goals is to create an article on every one of the Reconstruction-era black legislators, state officials, etc. I've done work on my native state of Tennessee, and some here in Wisconsin. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:33, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
We’ve got a VERY long way to go for Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and South Carolina I’m sorry to say User:Orangemike. And that’s just for state legislators. We also don’t have articles for many (most?) of William D. Foster’s films. So very much work to do. Thanks for your help. Happy Summer. FloridaArmy (talk) 01:41, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
Sorry, no interest in or expertise about films. I'm a legislative guy; was the Democratic nominee in my home town in 1974, and had to meet with the local NAACP chapters in church parking lots at night so nobody knew I was talking to them about my candidacy. --Orange Mike | Talk 01:56, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
No one else on Wikipedia appears to have the expertise or interest to write up the work of one of the earliest and most important filmmakers in our history. It’s like the struggle to provide access for African Americans to schools like the ones Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, and Clarence Thomas attended. The more things change the more they stay the same. Thanks for your help. Happy editing. FloridaArmy (talk) 02:08, 29 May 2022 (UTC)
