FloridaArmy according to this Samuel Riley Butler was his grandson. Also this page 35 suggests his kids were "James Edward (Jim Ed) Butler", "William Samuel Butler", "Francis T. Butler, Esq" (mother of Samuel Riley Butler), "George Washington Butler", "Margaret J. Butler", "Nancy Ann Butler" and "John Canada Butler". I have no access to the source "History of Alabama and Dictionary of Alabama Biography" that you have for him being a son, if you do can your double check.
