Merry Merry

Happy Christmas!
Hello Ebyabe,
Early in A Child's Christmas in Wales the young Dylan and his friend Jim Prothero witness smoke pouring from Jim's home. After the conflagration has been extinguished Dylan writes that

Nobody could have had a noisier Christmas Eve. And when the firemen turned off the hose and were standing in the wet, smoky room, Jim's Aunt, Miss. Prothero, came downstairs and peered in at them. Jim and I waited, very quietly, to hear what she would say to them. She said the right thing, always. She looked at the three tall firemen in their shining helmets, standing among the smoke and cinders and dissolving snowballs, and she said, "Would you like anything to read?"

My thanks to you for your efforts to keep the 'pedia readable in case the firemen chose one of our articles :-) Best wishes to you and yours and happy editing in 2019. MarnetteD|Talk 20:32, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
Thank you so much. May you have a happy and healthy and prosperous New Year.  :) --Ebyabe (talk) 01:44, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Ebyabe. I could use some backup at Danneel Ackles – an editor is disruptively ignoring WP:MINORS, etc., and is adding unsourced content.... Thanks. --IJBall (contribstalk) 00:24, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

Got it. Appears now a new user is doing the same thing, as well as stuff at Genevieve Cortese. What is it about the Supernatural spouses? --Ebyabe (talk) 01:49, 7 January 2019 (UTC)

A kitten for you!

You are Welcome sir

Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:48, 8 January 2019 (UTC)

stop posting welcomeing messages

its not needed.

--86.176.136.172 (talk) 18:54, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

If you get an account, then people won't assume that every new IP is a new user and requires a welcome message. Problem solved! Happy editing. --Ebyabe (talk) 20:26, 13 January 2019 (UTC)

Ebyabe, I'd appreciate more eyes on this one. I'm dealing with a somewhat problematic editor who previously caused problems at Lauren Lee Smith... Thanks. --IJBall (contribstalk) 16:44, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Actually, years is the one field that doesn't get messed up by rowspans, so it's ok either way. I only revert when it's the other ones (name, role, notes, etc). --Ebyabe (talk) 01:41, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Yes, it comes down to a WP:ILIKEIT/WP:IDONTLIKE-type of thing. But this shouldn't be changed unless an consensus is demonstrated for the change – once reverted, WP:BRD kicks in, and they shouldn't keep edit warring to their preferred version. Also, this editor is "sectioning" off the Filmography tables when it's not necessary – there should only be separate 'Film' and 'Television' sections when the tables get so long that 'sectioning' them aids in reader navigation. This is another thing that some editors do that they should not – they'll 'section' when the separate 'Film' and 'Television' tables are only, like, 4 rows each. --IJBall (contribstalk) 03:11, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Zayn's picture

Hey, why you remove the new picture of Zayn Malik. Amanchhaudhary (talk) 09:26, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Because you do not own the copyright to the image. Please look at the Images Tutorial for more information. You can also take a picture of Zayn Malik yourself and upload it whenever you get the chance. Thanks. --Ebyabe (talk) 09:35, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

More eyes needed here – another case of an editor persistently and disruptively changing a BLP subject to their "married" name with absolutely no evidence for that presented... TIA. --IJBall (contribstalk) 17:44, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

And may need more eyes here, as we've got another IP that isn't interested in using 'rowspan' in a way that meets WP:ACCESS. --IJBall (contribstalk) 21:43, 31 January 2019 (UTC)

Armory Art Center

I see you took some photos of what look to be newer buildings at the Armory Art Center (former site of Old West Palm Beach National Guard Armory). Should the article be moved to the current name, expanded, and a section included on the NRHP historic building? FloridaArmy (talk) 14:00, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

I don't know. I took those pictures back in 2010. I don't really know anything about the history of the buildings. I'd say do whatever you think best. --Ebyabe (talk) 02:56, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

The McCreery House

You reverted an edit I made to a page with wrong information. I own the McCreery House and I know for a fact that it is a 6 sided, not an 8 sided house. I welcome you to stop by anytime and we can count the walls together.

A kitten for you!

You are Welcome sir

Wrong information. #1 singles in the US can't have unexplained changes, little error there?

Cheers

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well E. MarnetteD|Talk 21:12, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

Greetings Ebyabe. This man's house, adorned with his Great Floridian plaque, appears to me to be party of the Fernandina Beach Historic District. Is that correct? The photo of the house is the one at 222 North 5th Street? I do see the 222 numbers on it. Thanks. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:45, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

Yes, it's part of the Fernandina Beach Historic District. --Ebyabe (talk) 02:30, 11 January 2020 (UTC)

Editor of the Week

Editor of the Week
Your ongoing efforts to improve the encyclopedia have not gone unnoticed: You have been selected as Editor of the Week in recognition of your continuously great contributions! (courtesy of the Wikipedia Editor Retention Project)

User:Sro23 and User:MarnetteD submitted the following nomination for Editor of the Week:

We would like to nominate Editor Ebyabe to be this week's Editor of the Week. A long-term contributor who has been around since 2006, he has, over the many years, amassed nearly 200,000 edits and uploaded an impressive 20,000+ images. Much of his work focuses on improving or expanding coverage of National Register of Historic Places articles (in fact, he started Wikipedia:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places), in particular those in Florida, having created 2000+ articles. He still manages to find time to keep articles free from vandalism and BLP violations, and could not be more pleasant to work with. Despite what can sometimes seem like thankless work, he's never asked for thanks or awards; amazingly, he takes time to show his thanks and appreciation toward other editors. It is for these reasons we believe he deserves this recognition for all his efforts.

You can copy the following text to your user page to display a user box proclaiming your selection as Editor of the Week:

  • Many many congrats E. Thanks for all your work here at the 'pedia over the years. I hope you are well in these crazy times. Stay safe. MarnetteD|Talk 21:56, 8 May 2020 (UTC)
Aw, thanks guys! Much appreciation. I didn't even know there was a thanks log. I'm working from home and am ok. I did take a roadtrip to St Augustine and Jacksonville a few days ago, so more photos. :) -Ebyabe (talk) 15:02, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

Fixing a buggy userbox

I recently fixed the buggy, overcomplicated expressions for calculating each digit in User:G_LeTourneau~enwiki/userboxes/NRHP2 and User:G_LeTourneau~enwiki/userboxes/NHL1. That user seems to be long inactive, but you clearly are not. User:Ebyabe/Userboxes/NRHD1 uses the same buggy code, which for certain numbers will display a long floating-point number instead of a zero digit, for example. I don't want to step on your toes; would you mind if I fixed that userbox as well? Or would you like to do it yourself? Ntsimp (talk) 03:53, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

I shan't be offended. Feel free to fix. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 18:27, 15 June 2020 (UTC)
Done. Thanks. Ntsimp (talk) 20:09, 15 June 2020 (UTC)

Permission to use File:Ohio Utica Ye Olde Mill01.jpg

Hello. I want to ask permission to use your image of the Ye Olde Mill on the Utica, Ohio page for the Velvet Ice Cream Company article. The image would greatly enhance the reader what the Ye Olde Mill is and the building being owned by Velvet. FunksBrother (talk) 15:16, 26 July 2020 (UTC)

Please, feel free. The asking for permission part only really applies if used outside of Wikipedia, but it was very nice of you to ask.  :) --Ebyabe (talk) 10:52, 27 July 2020 (UTC)

Greetings. I found photos of the two NRHP listed churches. I was curious if you photographed anything else in the Burroughs area southwest of Savannah? Thanks. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:07, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately not. I was focused on NRHP things. I was staying in Richmond Hill for the three days I visited the area, so I drove through Burroughs to Savannah and back each day. Nice area. --Ebyabe (talk) 15:21, 2 February 2021 (UTC)

In case this doesn't come across your radar in an organic fashion, I'm letting you know I created this article today and noticed your page linked to it. I'll expand it as time allows. - Seasider53 (talk) 15:46, 25 February 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know! That page is more of a wishlist. I've driven all of 441 in Florida, so I thought at some time I could do the same in Georgia. Probably won't happen anytime soon, as there are so many other places I want to get to in Florida. :) --Ebyabe (talk) 01:49, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14–16

The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. As a member of WikiProject LGBT studies, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.

We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.

More information, and registration details, at QW2021.--Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group 02:42, 27 April 2021 (UTC)

Greetings Ebyabe! I saw you got some shots at the one in Jacksonville. You don't by any chance have any of the one in Ocala do you? Are you passing that way any time soon? The Political Graveyard reference has a list of politicians buried at other Ocala graveyards if you're interested. Sorry if the subject is too morbid. Happy travels and photography. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:36, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

I don't. But considering I live in Ocala, I can probably get one. It's actually pretty close to the site I used to work at before we started working from home last year. I'll see what I can do. --Ebyabe (talk) 02:28, 17 June 2021 (UTC)
Plus I've been in so many cemeteries over the years taking pictures, what's one more? :) --Ebyabe (talk) 02:29, 17 June 2021 (UTC)

Historic Northwest District

Hello Ebyabe,

I am contacting you to kindly request your guidance. I saw that you were the creator of the Wikipedia page for the Historic Northwest District where I live with my mother AireWabiSabi. She saw the wiki page for our neighbourhood and was disappointed by the terrible picture that doesn’t represent the historic value at all. She tried editing it but neither she nor I are proficient in the editing of Wikipedia and were met by what I consider hostility from Bearcat. My mom took some nice pictures of historical buildings that better represent our community and I was hoping, as a fellow history enthusiast, that you could guide us on how to best edit this content. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwest_Historic_District

Kind regards,

Araozconpollo Araozconpollo (talk) 15:00, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

I updated the picture to one of the ones you uploaded. The weather wasn't great when I took mine, so I'm glad you took better ones. Articles aren't really meant to be a collection of pictures. They should be info with pictures to suppliment and explain. Especially with short articles, the pictures shouldn't overwhelm it. If you can provide some properly sourced info to expand the article that can help. --Ebyabe (talk) 21:27, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
Hello,
Thank you so much for your help! The neighbourhood has changed a bit since then too (didn't mean to bash your pic). We appreciate your guidance!
Kind regards,
Araozconpollo Araozconpollo (talk) 21:46, 26 September 2023 (UTC)
You're welcome! I did a tad more cleanup. It's nice to have an image in the infobox, so I moved the Jazz Club picture there.
And no offense taken about the pic. I am my own worst critic. I took it on one of my rare long trips. I used to live in Miami (now in north central Florida), so I went down on Thanksgiving weekend. My goal was to get to Opa-Locka in the morning when it would likely be safer, make a couple of other stops, and be out of Dade County by noon. Pretty much made it. I wended my way north from there up the coast the next few days. Ironically, the weather didn't clear up until after I was out of Palm Beach County. I made it to Fort Pierce before I had to go home. I also stumbled on my favorite Italian restaurant, Casa Mia, in Jupiter, just after they opened. They're still there, 13 years later. --Ebyabe (talk) 20:30, 30 September 2023 (UTC)
