Can the 'blp sources' template be removed from the Akriti Kakar article now? Ahmed Reza Khan (talk) 17:57, 21 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This looks like an SPA. The user seem to have discovered their calling in life and even named themselves accordingly. I wonder whether the Odiya scripted name is a sock or they constitute a sock farm. Chaipau (talk) 15:45, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reference

Hi bro! Thank you for trying to help but I have a worry. As you removed citations from the infobox about associate official language status of Meitei language in the different place articles, I am afraid that one day, someone can challenge and remove the entire information for being uncited. At that time, we might not be always aware of what's happening in those pages that we edited today or yesterday. Atleast one ref will help us from such worry, I believe. Haoreima (talk) 11:13, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Haoreima: Per MOS:INFOBOXREF, references are not needed in the infobox if already sourced in the article. So those were redundant anyway. Besides, I'm here. I'll take care of any such vandalism. Don't worry. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jasprit Bumrah copyedit

Hi, I'm Vkwiki100. I noticed that you added a copyedit tag on the Jasprit Bumrah article, and as I've written most of the article, I'm willing to address the issue. I am relatively new to Wikipedia, having been here for about a year, so I'm still learning. It would be nice if you could guide me to the specific part of the article you felt was written in a tabloid style or was unnecessary. I would then correct it. VK wiki100 16:11, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Vkwiki100: You mean you have recently expanded it? Yes, some of the parts added are unnecessary and too detailed, hence unencyclopedic. For example, in the para below is unnecessary and should be removed, including the quote part. -

Bumrah grew up in a colony of apartment blocks called Goyal Intercity, where he used to play on the concrete floor of the car parking area with his neighborhood friends. He used to imitate the bowling action of great bowlers like Makhaya Ntini, Brett Lee, and Shahid Afridi. He aimed for the floor skirting because he discovered that the ball made the least sound when it hit the skirting, so as not to disturb his mom during her afternoon nap.[8][9]

Kishore Trivedi is not a notable person.

Bumrah was 14 years old when he approached his mom with the request to become a cricketer. Initially surprised by Bumrah's request and saying no, Daljit later relented when Bumrah convinced her. She then asked Kishore Trivedi, father of former Gujarat and Rajasthan Royals fast bowler Siddharth Trivedi, to enroll Bumrah in his academy. This marked the beginning of Bumrah’s cricket journey.[6][10]

When I saw him in the nets for the first time, he troubled the batters with pace generated by his quick arm action and short run-up. I watched him bowl for about 10 minutes and was convinced that if we could guide him well, he had the talent to go far. — Trivedi, commenting on seeing Bumrah play for the first time in nets.[10]

Trivedi advised Bumrah not to change his action. Consistently reaching 140 km/h, he became a local cricket sensation, causing rival batters to be afraid of his bowling whenever Nirman’s team played.[10] Daljit made an appearance in the 2019 Netflix documentary Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians, where she expressed her emotions on the cricketing success of her son.[11][12]

There are other similar chunks in the article. I'd suggest you try yo make it more objective instead of subjective/tabloidy. Also keep the tag, even if you are done with trimming, since there are editors particularly devoted to copyediting. Second opinion will be useful. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:43, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I meant that I recently expanded it. I trimmed it as you mentioned, and I'm not removing the tag. VK wiki100 03:11, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Vkwiki100: Thanks. Appreciate your efforts in the article. Keep up the good work. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:04, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note on personal relations and closeness of leaders

You have said that closeness between leaders is a trivial thing. It is being prayed that wWhat you state is certainly incorrect. Relationships between leaders of importance do count a lot. It is a known historical fact that personal relations have changed the course of history on umpteen occasions.

Closeness and Interpersonal relations between people of influence is never a personal matter but it has huge political and social overtones.

This is not a new thing that I am stating, but is a well-known fact.

If you are not convinced, then I can cite any number of examples of personal relations between leaders with huge political, social and historical relevance.

I shall wait for your response in this regards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Goodwikie (talkcontribs) 01:47, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Goodwikie: Yeah it is trivial and WP:NOTNEWS applies, when you mention that certain political people have closeness. Unless they do something of significance together, that's unimportant. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:34, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Recent edit summaries

Your recent edit summaries are very disturbing, especially for such an experienced user. Please do not cast aspersions on other users and remember to assume good faith at least without direct, hard evidence of nefarious intentions. 331dot (talk) 10:53, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@331dot: Which one? You have to see what that IP-troll is doing to me, Hindus and India. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:55, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ones like this("Same to you Anti-Indian Anti-Hindu casteist attention seeker on an agenda") I don't know if you are familiar with the expression "you should not fight fire with fire"- inappropriate behavior or words should not be returned in kind. Again, if you have actual evidence of nefarious intentions or motivations beyond your assumptions, that should be taken to the appropriate notice board(you have already made reports of vandalism). 331dot (talk) 11:00, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: This guy has been doing this on and off since 2020. Here he says there should be a genocide of Brahmins, by the "Katuas" (slang for Muslims). Check This one also. I can put a list of abuses hurled at me, India, Hindus, Brahmins. While I'll ignore those directed towards me only (which typically starts with "mother f-word", "illegitimate ..."), but when they disrupt Wikipedia and abuse our gods (calls Rama) and Prophet Muhammad names; and our country, I may retaliate, once in while, with a "same to you", or "you are an Anti-Indian Anti-Hindu vandal". I dunno, but it seems very easy to circumvent IP range blocking, he himself said that here (Google translate it if necessary), and immediately started with this range. I feel like IPs should only be allowed to edit articles below C-class.
This is a sock of Fox931711, and may well be a sock of this older ID, opened a case yesterday. Please see. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:14, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Aside from the fact that other editors(like me) see your edit summaries, summaries like that usually just make the target take more of a personal interest in annoying you and/or continuing their inappropriate actions. See WP:DENY. My suggestion would be to tone down the edit summaries in this case and just revert and report. 331dot (talk) 11:20, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot: Yeah, you are right. But this person is after me since 2019-2020, most likely wouldn't stop, I'm not sure why, but they keep on digging up and reverting my edits. Could you revdel those edits and delete the edit summaries [3] [4]? They being a nuisance in commons also [5] [6]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:38, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It appears that they have all been revdeleted. 331dot (talk) 12:17, 27 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting edit

Hi, i am @Aurjansan, it is about your recent revert of my recent edit on Khatri by saying that i removed a source where Zafar Khan's father is described to be a Jat and add information without source.

Firstly the removed source is just an empty source where no mention of Zafar khan and his father.

Secondly that information( name and sentence meaning correction) was edited via ciction which were already mentioned in paragraph. Aurjansan (talk) 18:31, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aurjansan: Zafar Khan's father being a Jat is explicitly mentioned in the source. See here, highlighted in yellow. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:53, 29 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting some article expansion help

Greetings @Fylindfotberserk

Hi, I am User:Bookku, On Wikipedia I engage in, finding information and knowledge gap areas in Wikipedia and promoting expansion of related drafts and articles. Came across your user profile (from article history Homi Adajania) .

Requesting your visit to My Choice (2015 film) (still a draft in my userspace) and help expand the topic areas if you find topic interesting. Wish you very happy Wikipedia editing.

Thanks and warm regards

Bookku (talk) 07:12, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bookku: Thanks for communicating. Can you arrange the sources properly. Thanks. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:54, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Well I renamed collection of still unused refs under "Refs for expansion" with sub-sections news sources non-news sources and filled refs.
If we shift RS-doubtful to talk page it will reduce stress of unwanted. But I am not much used to Indian films in regard to WP:RS so you will need to help me. If all that is still confusing we can shift the collection of refs to the talk page.
Please do suggest. I am happy for your contributions and help. Bookku (talk) 11:39, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bookku: Please visit WP:ICTF, WP:ICTFFAQ for Indian-cinema related RS. Do the needful, I'll have a look after I go through by watchlist. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:52, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

As of now, this user seemed to be interested in different countries around the world. They did some editings of different states of India, but had not touched a single Manipur or Meitei related articles yet. Their editings on Nagaland article didn't seem to be ethnocentric as of now. It seems unlikely to be a sock, in case of suspicion related to the previously blocked user who was Naga ethnocentric & anti Meitei. Haoreima (talk) 19:32, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"possibly it supports this sentence"

Hi Fylindfotberserk,

I am very curious about your edit here. Do you routinely add citations to articles on a hunch that the source could "possibly" support a sentence, without checking whether it actually does? Regards, HaeB (talk) 03:55, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@HaeB: That's why I wrote 'possibly', since your edit rendered the residual sentence citation-less. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:17, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's a strange response. (FYI, the sentence had been present in the article long before that citation was added with another sentence.)
You haven't answered the question whether you routine add citations to articles without checking that they actually support the content they are cited for. Considering the amount of content you have contributed, that's a very relevant question. If it turns out that you have frequently faked citations, the community may need to undertake a wider review of that content and possibly consider administrative sanctions. If, on the other hand, this was just an isolated incident where you temporarily forgot about the importance of WP:INTEGRITY, it would be good to clarify that now. Regards, HaeB (talk) 05:41, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@HaeB: What part of this simple sentence - "Restoring source, possibly it supports this sentence" - you don't understand? Reiterating - I didn't 'add' a new citation, I 'restored' a previously existing one because your edit rendered a sentence citation-less. Perhaps remove the whole para or add your own citations next time for the sake of WP:V WP:INTEGRITY instead of harassing (WP:CIVIL) and threatening (WP:THREATEN) other users doing mere restoration/cleanup. You could have removed the whole sentence as of now instead of repeatedly commenting on my t/p questioning my ethics. @Doug Weller: Please see. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 10:34, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@HaeB That would be a waste of time and your initial and following posts fail to assume good faith. Please WP:DROPTHESTICK Doug Weller talk 14:10, 9 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

See

[7]. and my post below. You think this editor is ok? Doug Weller talk 13:25, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Doug Weller: Well, our initial interaction was me reverting their newbie edits a few years back. Over the years, I've come to trust this user. Makes good edits, without bias (not apparent to me atleast) and haven't seen them edit warring. As for the content, the residual part - "The original structure was destroyed by Mahmud Begada in 1472." seems sourced in Dwarkadhish Temple#History - Thus the sultan decide to capture Dwarka and in 1473 began marching towards the city. The Raja of Dwarka Bhim and his Rajputs fled the city to the island fortress of Bet, allowing Mahmud Begada to plunder Dwarka, destroy buildings and the Dwarkadhish temple and destroy its idol.[12], but the source used is British Era, hence may not be usable per WP:RAJ. It is not linked in the article, here's the URL [8]. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:59, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, they've told me I missed that and I've looked at the source. . But I've responded wondering if the source is an RS. I'm chasing that up. Doug Weller talk 14:27, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Goodfacts666 has been removing sourced content from various articles, please go through her contributions and revert what you feel is inappropriate, post a warning on her User talk page and if necessary, report her to WP:ANI. Given her ability to use WP:HotCat, I don't think she is a new user having made just a little over 200 edits. Please start a WP:SPI if you can!-Haani40 (talk) 18:00, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't see her edit warring, nor making any bad faith edits/vandalism. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, this is a diff of her ability to auto-collapse sections in the Template:Sikh_Empire template which certainly a new user cannot do. You need to find out from her edits if she is a sock-puppet and report her!-Haani40 (talk) 19:05, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Haani40: Ok, they might not be a new user. But, whose SP would they be? Diffs? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
She has made more than 200 edits and it is difficult for me to go through all of those but if you find something pointing to sock-puppetry, please report her!-Haani40 (talk) 19:16, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A new user cannot do this or this or this.-Haani40 (talk) 19:30, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Can't report someone based on a hunch. Need concrete proof, that is similar diffs, editing areas, shared by this ID and others. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:44, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, that's the problem. This is another diff of her collapsing text.-Haani40 (talk) 19:50, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In her very first edit she added a {{cn}} tag; a newbie would not know about that.-Haani40 (talk) 19:57, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In her second edit she added an image - a newcomer would not be able to do that.-Haani40 (talk) 20:02, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
in her seventh edit she uses another sophisticated tool.-Haani40 (talk) 20:08, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
In this edit she has commented out some text instead of adding a {{cn}} template.-Haani40 (talk) 20:34, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Deepfriedokra: Nope, never. That's an allegation against me. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:33, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra: Apart from sockpuppetry, an obvious case of falsification of sourced content (including census data) can be observed in their edits. For example:-
Here they claim Hinduism is "not the plurality religion of the state" of Arunachal Pradesh, while at "29.04%" it definitely is and the second largest religion of the state.
Here they claimed Tamang, Rai, Limbu to be a part of the Gorkha. Gorkha is an ethno-cultural group, not an ethno-linguistic mega group.
Here they claimed Lepcha people are a Sikkimese. Sikkimese is a demonym, not an ethno-linguistic group either, and Lepchas are native inhabitants of other states as well.
The whole set of edits from this to this is nothing but arbitrary grouping and arrangements in an effort to club diverse independently notable ethnic groups together, in line with the 'idea' of the proposed state of WESEA, denying them of their separate identity which is maintained in Wikipedia. Apart from the large chunk of undue material, see this attempt at POVpushing the name of proposed state in the lead / hatnote. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:20, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I have little confidence in their ability to contribute constructively.
I feel like often when new users accuse established. Users POV pushing. It's because they are The onePOV pushing.. Pardon my phone it doesn't know how to format. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 18:35, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra: Yeah, exactly. .. I've face similar issues editing using my phone . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:55, 15 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Deepfriedokra: I wonder what's happening in their talk page [9] [10]. Some sort of congregation of people interested in WESEA may be. Future sock/meat puppets? The IP range is showing Tinsikia, Assam, a place in northeast India. Please have a look. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 08:39, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Girth Summit: Intrigued and curious as well. Off Wiki canvass? Socks? -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 10:31, 16 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
