This case can be found in the Commonwealth Law Review, if you can get your hands on a copy. My university library has most law journals, so I suspect any major university offering law would too. This is an Australian case, and can be found via the following reference. Henwood v Municipal Tramways Trust (SA) (1938) 60 CLR 438 So H V MTT is the case name, and (SA) refers to the state in which the events took place (South Australia) or at least the branch of the company, and the year 60 CLR 438 means in the 60th volume, at page 438. If you need more help, i recommend finding a law library and asking a librarian. I know that Canada is also a common law country, so this case, while not in any way binding, is still persuasive to Canadian courts, just as any cases decided in Canada will be considered in Australian courts, at least where the binding case law is not obvious.

You removed the tag off of the article stating that it's a state government agency. I know it is, I live in Connecticut. But the article was created by an account called User:Connecticut State Library and it's obviously a copy/paste of most of this, which is probably free to use, but it shouldn't be copied and pasted. It's the definition of spam: an organization making an article solely to promote itself as opposed to following our policies. The user has been blocked for having a promotional username. The speedy criterion basically covers articles that would take an extensive rewrite to become encyclopedic. Would you like me to take it to AFD instead? Leebo ^T/C 23:47, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Esmail Zanjani, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. I have restored it and moved it to User:Eastmain/Joys Green. Feel free to add anything you would like and move it into article space once there is enough to survive speedy deletion. Notability was not an issue when I speedied it. The issue was that there was insufficient context for expansion - someone who has never heard of Joys Green before would not be able to tell from looking at the article what it is talking about. Yes, a village is notable. However the article was deleted not because it's not notable, but because it was completely useless: it did not have even the most basic info: where is the village? how many people? how old it is? what cities are close? what attractions it has? etc. If you are keen on having it on Wikipedia, please write a decent stub on it. Having re-read both articles, I must say that I still feel that they lack adequate notability to survive, even as stubs. You will be aware that one of them has been deleted three times on this basis. As they are so very short, the labour involved for you in re-creating them from scratch is trivial, if you choose to do so. Justin Sandercoe is a London based guitarist, songwriter, performer, producer and educator who grew up in Tasmania (a little island off the South East coast of Australia) but has been based in London since 1996.

At the start of June 2007 his YouTube instructional videos have been watched over 3,200,000 times and his web site, justinguitar.com receives over 8,000 unique visitors a day - and it is growing fast.

Hi Eastmain. I'd know the true intention of the uploader how? Telepathy? Sorry to be facetious, but if an uploader tags an image as non-commercial/Wikipedia-only, how am I to know that the permission they've asserted is wrong? They were offered many, many choices and picked one completely incompatible with Wikipedia. Can I safely conclude that I know something they don't? Are they a representative of the organisation in question and speaking for them? If I switch tags to one of my choosing, what do I say is the fair use rationale for the image? Does it go without and get slow deleted? Do I make one up, not knowing what the original uploader wants to use the image for in future?

In short: can open, worms everywhere. We have to take the uploader at their word or we're asking for trouble. If it is indeed "usually done" to just swap for a {{logo}} tag, then those who are doing so need a stern slapping for doing so. WP:BIO states that special cases regarding athletes include:

   * Competitors who have played in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport...
   * Competitors who have played or competed at the highest level in amateur sports.

It does not appear that Harry Gurney fits into either athlete exception.
Reason: 1.) Leicestershire County Cricket Club is not a professional league.
Reason: 2.) Harry Gurney has not played or competed at the highest level in amateur sports.

However, it is personally believed that Harry Gurney adds to the significance of Leicestershire County Cricket Club and should be expanded in a timely manner. Tag removed, but I would like to see the article expanded.

You may want to look at the references you cited as establishing notability. 4 of them are media announcements derived from press releases from a commercial gallery (a gallery press release is not a independent 3rd person source), and the last one is NOT about the subject at all, it is about the subjects husband's auto accident and what a good wife the subject is. Sorry, but I have no intention of making that edit. As my edit summaries stated, the edits adding those categories were made by a sockpuppet of a banned editor, who for the record is a prolific sockpuppeteer with over 230 sockpuppets identified to date. If you check the talk page of the editor in question you will see a message from administrator Riana:

As a blocked or banned user you are not entitled to edit Wikipedia. All of your edits have been reverted.

That is how bans are enforced, by reverting any edits a banned editor makes and deleting any pages they create, regardless of the merits of them. I would have no objections to you making the edit in question, and ideally adding his year of birth to the actual article as well as just a category, but due to the vast amount of time I'm spent chasing round after this editor both before and after his ban, I have no intention of implementing any edits he wants to be made, as it defeats the object of him being banned. You removed the db tag from article Rajat Tokas. Please note that speedy deletion tags shouldn't be removed outright, you should use {{hangon}} instead of removing them, and subsequently discussing the issue on the article talk page. In this case, the television series doesn't have an article of its own, hence my questioning his notability. You could place your arguments to keep the article on the article talk page.

I have been trying to salvage some copyvio plant articles (which I think you originally tagged) by removing the copyvio part of each and leaving a stub with only the bare facts of its classification. If you check Category:Candidates for speedy deletion, you will find a number of plant articles that need to be fixed in this way, either by removing everything that is a copyvio or replacing the copyvio text with rewritten text. I did tag them all originally. See User talk:OMGrace for a full list as well. That one editor had created so many at once and I had to go back and remove all of the copyvio text from the existing articles they had added that it seemed much easier to start over from scratch on those articles. Some of them even have incorrect information in the taxobox (a copy and paste from another article). I've been going through after each one you've corrected and fixed the style issues. If the purpose of an image is only, as you say, to "illustrate", then it clearly does not meet our standards for use of non-free content. The image must be used in identification and critical commentary, and I am not going to go clean up thousands of articles to make sure that they discuss something about the image. Illustration is a synonym for decoration when the article does not make any critical reference to the image. Thus, your example of a company logo is often not permitted under our policies. This is why it is important that someone who actually knows the image's use in its respective article(s) write the rationale. (ESkog)^(Talk) 19:39, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

More importantly, the blanket cut-and-paste job you are doing on the logos of TV stations is not sufficient, and will (or should) be challenged as an improper justification for fair use. In specific instances, such as discussing the history of the logo, it may be necessary, but putting a picture in the article just to have one there is not justified under the policy. He is very notable, if his death is noted on the front page of the largest circulating newspaper in Canada, the article just needs someone to fill in the details. I'm too busy doing my own projects. You recently commented on Timeline for the 2007 Labour Party (UK) Leadership and Deputy Leadership Races and new Prime Minister. Because the UK does not have the fixed four-year elections cycle that the United States does, the date of elections is chosen by the prime minister rather than set by law. Similarly, since there are no primaries in the U.S. sense, a party leadership races doesn't have a fixed schedule until a current leader announces his resignation. I think that the timeline article is probably useful, and I would encourage you to read a bit more about British politics and to consider withdrawing your AfD nomination for the article. --Eastmain 23:14, 10 May 2007 (UTC)

Is their a reason the article is written as a list? Information like this should be written in paragraph form. Yes, I believe the article is useful, but not in its current form. For example, under the April 2007 header, it states:

Following an article in The Observer newspaper, in which he says he will vote for Gordon Brown in any leadership election, David Milliband tells the BBC he "never came close" to standing himself, I don't know how this is informative to the reader. Just so you know, I've tried to clean up the article a bit - I'm not going to go looking for references, but I did tone down the self-promotion a bit and get rid of some of the stronger violations of WP:LIVING. The article creator is still around, so I'd rather they do the work to clean up the article themselves. I gave them a long list of WP criteria to read, so hopefully they try to either make the article better, or realize that Wikipedia deletes Selfcruft. I won't AfD it. OK, he's supposedly tried improving things. Hasn't done much to improve it, though. I think I improved it more with my mighty delete key. And now he's taken to writing references from a supposed professor and a supposed personal assistant. At this point, I think perhaps I should AfD the article as Selfcruft. I do add rationales when I feel I can. If you feel comfortable adding a rationale to an image that I did not feel comfortable rationalizing, go for it. Adding pseudo-rationales (that don't meet the criteria of the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria policy, you are adding significant work for many people without significant gain.

There are no fair use images being deleted through this process which cannot be re-uploaded or undeleted if it is determined later that they are needed to illustrate their subject. ~ BigrTex 19:00, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Image:Bivouac.jpg is not the image located at http://www.amazon.com/Bivouac-Jawbreaker/dp/B000001BEP. Did you consider uploading the image from Amazon so that we could have an image for which we knew the source instead of lying about where someone else got the image from?

I appreciate that you are working very hard to 'save' these images from deletion. I don't understand why these images are so important to you. As you said, these album covers are easily replaced from Amazon or any of a dozen websites online who don't hold the original copyright. Thank you for the effort you are putting in on the images. I just want to make sure that the effort you are putting in is being put to good use.

I can't tell a good rationale from a bad one, nor can most people - ESkog seems to be about the only one I've seen with a firm grasp on that. I would like to advise you to work with him to determine where to best put your efforts (album images on the album articles - as opposed to artist and discography articles; and logos are probably good) and to fine-tune your rationales as needed so that they will pass muster.

Finally, I want to make sure that you understand that these images aren't really going anywhere. I didn't understand that until I got my WP:MOP a couple of weeks ago. An admin can bring back any of these fair use images that are being deleted, they are still there, they just aren't visible. We are going through a strong push now because the new WP:CSD for rationales came out recently and because a couple of users have been using assistance programs to review fair use images. I expect the number of {{no rationale}} tags to go down soon. If you can bookmark images that you think should be saved, then as things cool off you can create the rationales for them and go through deletion review. Since the images are being deleted for not having rationale, providing a rationale should be enough to create consensus for undeletion.

• I think the rule is that images from concert films can be used to illustrate the article about the DVD, but not the article about the band itself. Album covers can probably be used in the article about the band, but there is disagreement about this as well, since some editors feel that album covers should only be used in articles about a specific album. In short, I don't think the concert images are fair use in the context of the article about the band itself, and I would say that you acted correctly in removing them. There is a public domain image of Jimmy Page Image:Jimmy Page b&w.jpg that appears in the Jimmy Page article. I say this in accordance to the message I received from you about the article Norman Bettison. In your message, you infomred me that you believed that Bettison was a notable man in the police force and that you'd found several paper articles about him. According to that same page, "conversely, meeting one or more does not guarantee that a subject should be included." However with the improvements I am now happy with the page. Please note that CSD A7 applies to "content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant. This is distinct from questions of notability..." Hello Eastmain. My first article on wikipedia seems to be up for deletion again for notability. I don't mind much, but after reading the requirements, I believe he is, and feel that this article is an relevant addition to the encyclopedia. As requested I have provided 4 newspaper articles discussing a major project he was involved in (Triaspora- he composed the first and last movements) which I think pretty well establishes his notability. Also there is also a link I found on a 3rd party opera database containing his opera. Could you please take another look at it, and voice your opinion.
