Draft:Rob Milton

Robert James Milton (born 1995) is a songwriter, musician, record producer and engineer, based in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom. He is best known for his extensive work with BRIT Award-winner Holly Humberstone but has collaborated with various artists, as well as previously fronting his own band, Dog Is Dead.

Career

In 2008, aged 13, Milton and four fellow pupils from West Bridgford School formed Dog Is Dead, with Milton as lead singer and guitarist. The band was later signed by Atlantic Records, leading to an appearance at the Glastonbury Festival and support slots with OK Go.[1] They released two albums.[2][3]

More recently, Milton has become known as a songwriter and producer for other artists[4][5]. He has worked with Easy Life on most of their releases and collaborated with The 1975, Arlo Parks, Maisie Peters and others.[6][7]

Milton began working with Holly Humberstone after hearing her on BBC local radio[8] and contacting her to suggest they collaborate[9]. They subsequently co-wrote Falling Asleep At The Wheel, which in 2020 was one of Humberstone's earliest single releases[10][11], and have collaborated on most of her records since, including her EP The Walls Are Way Too Thin and album Paint My Bedroom Black.[4] Humberstone has described Milton as a "wizard"[12] and, in several interviews, described how they struck up a successful song writing partnership after she struggled trying to work with a number of other collaborators.[9][10][12]
