Why is there a delsort for Jersey? It is used only a few times a year. Shouldn't these and other unused delsort categories be consolidated? Sungodtemple (talk • contribs) 17:13, 17 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy. I'd like to suggest we add some or all of these as their own deletion sorting pages:

• SNGs that currently don't have a delsort list
  • books (WP:NBOOK)
  • numbers (WP:NNUMBER)
• sports events (WP:SPORTSEVENT)

Hi @Enterprisey, @Spiderone, or anyone that knows the answer. Is creating a new deletion sort topic as simple as creating the page and then adding it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Computer-readable.json? @Novem Linguae: it's pretty much as simple as that, correct. The reason we don't have one for books is because that usually goes under the 'literature' sorting. Books might be a useful one to have, though, as non-fiction books up for deletion often don't get put as 'literature' as people may presume that literature only covers fiction. Numbers would usually be filed under 'mathematics' at sorting. Sporting events are usually filed under the individual sport and then 'events'. So, for example, a badminton event would be tagged for deletion with 'badminton' and 'events' and any countries involved. One thing that I find difficult to sort are magazines. I've proposed an article for deletion and I came here to find out how I can add it to a deletion sort list. But the page as is doesn't give any instructions. Is there a "how-to" guide somewhere? I suggest adding sport of athletics as a WP:DS category. The sport of athletics is one of only three sports-related Level 3 Wikipedia:Vital articles, along with Association football and the Olympic games, both of which already have their own DS categories. Athletics also has its own subject-specific notability guidelines at WP:NATH.

So as not to be confused with Athletics (physical culture), I suggest naming it "Sport of athletics". If there's no opposition, I can create the page myself and add it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Computer-readable.json. --Habst (talk) 18:11, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
