Wikipedia talk:Articles for deletion/Toward the Tower ( Film 2019 )

3rd speedy deletion request

Another article was db-hoax'd away shortly before this one was created. The first db-hoax under this title was denied, so I made a second (for this page) request, this time with the following long-winded reason:

I'm putting this here where it won't be deleted in case this page comes back again. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 01:43, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Post-close news - looks less like WP:HOAX and more like blatant WP:PROMO

This may not be a complete fabrication, but it is certainly WP:PROMO and vaporware. See https://simkl.com/movies/520828/toward-the-tower and http://www.anselmidavide.com/.

See the following pages and/or deletion logs and/or pages that link to them (particularly user talk pages and redirects, and pages that link to the redirects), and the global contributions for the creators of these pages for possibly-related promotional activity:

 • Toward the Tower ( Film 2019 ) (deleted)
 • Toward The Tower ( Film ) (deleted)
 • Commons:File:TOWARDTHETOWER OFFICIAL POSTER.PNG (deleted)
 • Empty Empathy ( Davide Anselmi ) (deleted)
 • Anselmi Davide (deleted)
 • Commons:File:Empty_Empathy-Davide_Anselmi.jpg (nominated for copyright-related deletion)
 • Anselmi Davide (Drummer) (AFD)
 • Overture ( Davide Anselmi ) (AFD, speedy-deleted)
 • Commons:File:Hangover q.jpg
 • Commons:File:Hangover i.jpg

Note - I am not an administrator, but from what I can see, it WP:QUACKs like a meat- or sock-farm may be behind this.

 • The basic idea of it might not be a hoax, but the way the page was laid out certainly was. It claimed to have a lot of star power as far as its cast and crew went, from Stephen Sondheim handling the music (which is odd, considering that a musician is directing the film) to one of the Harry Potter cast members (Timothy Spall) and Sacha Baron Cohen starring. Bizarrely, it also had an award winning costume designer (Colleen Atwood) as a star as well. SIMKl doesn't really seem like it's really does any fact checking with its entries, so I wouldn't count on that being anything definite. It's actually not that difficult to upload things to databases that accept random user entries. IMDb is probably one of the more difficult ones and they're hit with hoax entries all the time. Heck, I've created entries for three films and while those weren't hoaxes, they didn't really ask for a lot of proof either. I always hold up Gretel Ashzinger as a great example: she actually managed to convince IMDb that she was going to be She-Hulk in one of the Captain America films - plus that she'd been a presenter on some major award ceremonies, was a singer whose work had been in a few Disney films, and so on. She managed to get around their policies by giving them random publication dates for articles that supposedly backed up her claims, but never actually the articles themselves. I think that she also gave them her website (some random company that will let you create a website claiming you're the PoTUS if you pay them) to back all of this up (And the director's website doesn't really seem to contain any of this info, since I can't get beyond the first page. Anywho, basic theme here is that while the idea for the film might be a real thing, this particular version of things is most certainly a hoax. There's no way that these people could be involved in this film and it wouldn't gain coverage, especially Cohen. People were ready to riot in the streets over him playing Freddie Mercury, so him being in a 9/11 film would likely be covered somewhere, even if just in passing. • davidwr, upon looking at the various articles, I'm getting the impression that everything is a hoax. I've name dropped you at the SPI I've opened. I'd like you to go and comment upon the evidence I've posted. Basically, I'm getting the impression that this is a guy who is trying to repeatedly insert hoaxes on Wikipedia. The guy has claimed to have worked with some A list names and released multiple albums through major labels, yet he's received pretty much zero coverage on the Internet. This film looks to be the latest attempt to insert a hoax to Wikipedia, so I doubt that the film is even remotely real. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 15:41, 31 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
