Greetings!
In 2006 you started the wikipedia article on the 1961 Milton Bradley game Battle Cry.
A couple of days ago it was nominated for deletion. I decided to take a hard look at this nomination as it seemed to me that it might be a good example of a bad phenomenon. When a wikipedia contributor considers deleting an article they are not supposed to judge it by its current state. They are actually supposed to consider the inherent wikipedia notability of the article's underlying topic.
I too was working on the wikipedia, in 2006. Judging by the standards of 2006, the article you started was a fine article, a fine addition.
In 2021 those who focus on deleting articles expect more references, better references. Unfortunately, it is pretty common for them to do only a cursory search for those references, or do no search at all. As a result lots of older articles are being deleted, even though their underlying topics do, in fact, measure up to the wikipedia's more stringent standards of 2021.
I found a 2017 Master's Thesis where the author named Battle Cry as notable in the development of the scholarly study of conflict, through simulation.
Anyhow, I thought I would email you, and give you a head's up, even though you seem to have retired from the project in 2015.
I don't think we ever crossed paths, when you were contributing. But it looks like you made fine worthwhile contributions. So, thanks for that.
If you are still interested, and can suggest other references, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Cheers!
