Welcome to WikiProject Zoo, a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to zoos, aquaria, and aviaries. If you would like to help, please see the open tasks below, inquire on the talk page.

Our goals

• Improve Wikipedia's coverage of zoos, aquaria, and aviaries by creating, expanding, and maintaining articles.
• Provide guidelines and recommendations for articles about zoos, aquaria, and aviaries.
• Serve as the central point of zoo, aquarium, and aviary article discussion.

Our scope

WikiProject Zoo focuses on articles about all kinds of facilities that care for and manage exhibits of animals, including but not limited to: zoos, aquaria, aviaries, butterfly zoos, petting zoos, reptile centres, and safari parks.

What can you do?

• Add your name to the list of Participants and get started!
• Add your name to the Mailing_list to get monthly messages
• Add this userbox to your user page {{User WikiProject Zoo}}
• Look at the navigation box on the right and see what needs doing in the "Tasks" List.
• Join the Assessment Department and help review article standards and quality.
• Join other Projects like WikiProject Animals.
• If you work as zookeeper, place the category [[Category:Wikipedian zookeepers]] to your user page.
• If you find zoo-related articles, place the {{WikiProject Zoo}} template at the top of the talk page.
• If the zoo-related article you find is still a stub, place the {{Zoo-stub}} tag (shown below) at the bottom of the article to keep track of them.

Assessment

The assessment department focuses on assessing the quality of project-supported articles. The resulting article ratings are used within the project to aid in recognizing excellent contributions and identifying topics in need of further work, and are also expected to play a role in the WP:1.0 program. The assessment is done in a distributed fashion through parameters in the {{WPZOO}} project banner; this causes the articles to be placed in a set of categories that serves as the basis for an automatically generated worklist.

Collaboration

The Zoo collaboration department is a coordinated effort by WikiProject Zoo to improve Wikipedia's zoo-related content. All Wikipedians, regardless of their level of expertise on the subject, are welcome to contribute.
