For St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery. I can't find anything on this online, probably because of the romanization of the title. I'd be grateful for any amount of help finding it.

@Mcrsftdog: Given the cemetery's topicality, perhaps contact University of Toronto library to see who their point person is for Internet Archive? I'm sure that they'd add it to the digitization list. They just uploaded a book on August 19, their first since March 19, so I'm guessing that they're back, at least to a limited extent. -- Zanimum (talk) 23:44, 24 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Umimmak, unfortunately I have not been able to find anything about the article's internal structure, so I don't know. Is there an index of sections? Constantine 10:30, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cplakidas during COVID I don’t have direct access to it; it would have been a scan and deliver request, but there are limits to those. Umimmak (talk) 13:29, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Umimmak I see. In that case, based on the sporadic references I've seen to specific page(s), I'd ask for pp. 200-250. Thanks a lot for your assistance! Constantine 13:40, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Cplakidas: okay well I put in the request, let's see if it gets approved. Hopefully I'll have something within the next days. Umimmak (talk) 13:51, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Umimmak damn, that's disappointing, but thanks anyway :) Constantine 16:18, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Cplakidas, well, I second the comment that that's just too many pages. If you're based in Vienna, perhaps you have a chance to access the volume in the National Library (ZDB record). If, for whatever reason, that doesn't work for you, I can either (a) check first if there is a table of contents (and, if so, send it to you) or (b) send you the requested page range (ie, pp. 200-250) right away. Let me know how you wish to proceed. Thanks. — Pajz (talk) 17:52, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Reference supporting a statement about the addition of polynomials

{{resolved}} I am struggling to find a reference for a basic statement about the addition of polynomials. It's for this article: Polynomials. While it's trivial to find references supporting the claim that the set of polynomials is closed under the operation of addition, some editors (including myself) would like to see if we could construct a statement that can be referenced without the word "closed". The current wording is:

a sum of polynomials is always another polynomial.

Proposed alternative wording includes:

the addition of polynomials is an operation that takes any two polynomials and produce always another polynomial

The suggestion has been made that this source is worth reviewing:

  • Davenport, James Harold; Siret, Y.; Tournier, F.; Tournier, E. (1993). Computer Algebra: Systems and Algorithms for Algebraic Computation. Academic Press. ISBN 978-0-12-204232-4.

I see that it exists in Google books but in very limited snippet view. Can I persuade someone to take a look and see if either of the phrases linked above or something similar could be referenced in this book?

1960s-1980s newspaper sources for Geoffrey Chaucer biographer

{{Resolved}}

Hello. I'm looking for 1960s-1980s newspapers sources for my draft on Donald R. Howard, who wrote on Geoffrey Chaucer while working as an academic. I haven't found many sources apart from encylopedia entries. However, newspaper sources would help me avoid reusing the encyclopedia. Specifically, I'm looking for any sources from the 1960s to 1980s that talks about his academic career, his works on Chaucer and/or Howard's death in March 1987. Thanks! MrLinkinPark333 (talk) 00:58, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I am looking for this article in order to get a list of nominees for the 2004 Teen Choice Awards. After a lot of fruitless searching, I found an abstract and some information about this article on ProQuest. I want to use this information to improve List of awards and nominations received by Keanu Reeves, but of course this is helpful for any page requiring the 2004 TCA noms.

Newspaper.com request

Trying to find a replacement for IMDb in Lon Satton#Stage appearances for his 1972 appearance in The Threepenny Opera. I was able to find a possible one via Newspapers.com, but don't have access to it. If someone who does can verify the content and fill in the rest of the citation template, I can add it to the article. I can verify the OCR text on Newspapers.com, but can't see the actual blurb itself to make sure. Thanks in advance. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:21, 2 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A 1925 Portuguese booklet

This item:

It's a small cardboard-cover booklet from 1925 of 14 pages total. Could someone please scan all 14 pages and send it me? This is for articles Petrus Serrarius, John Dury, Abraham Pereyra, and Spinoza. Thank you, warshy (¥¥) 00:27, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Warshy: I won’t be able to help you with this for probably a few months due to COVID-related closures, so hopefully another editor can help you before then, but in theory I should eventually have access to this via microfilm if you still need this when things are open again. For other editors’ convenience I also made each of those OCLC numbers their own separate clickable links. Umimmak (talk) 21:09, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, Umimmak. I understand. I saw the microfilm option in the item's record in WorldCat. As you say, hopefully someone will have access to it before "things are open again" (whenever that may be...). Thanks again, warshy (¥¥) 21:32, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hello again. This is an old request, more than 6 months old now. It is already in an old archive. I am wondering what happens to it if I post a reminder about it here, in the archive. Will it become live again? Since this would be a very easy item to scan (14 small folio pages in all!), I am wondering if that would be possible/feasible now? Thank you very much, warshy (¥¥) 16:46, 21 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's so refreshing!

Hi guys, I'm resurrecting ye olden text citations. I'm a newbie to Wikipedia Library still.

  • Ricciardi, John. "Still Super After All These Years." Electronic Gaming Monthly 14.9 (2001): 126. Business Source Complete. Web. July 23, 2013.
  • "Fight!." Electronic Gaming Monthly 14.12 (2001): 212. Business Source Complete. Web. July 23, 2013.
  • La Franco, Robert (June 3, 1996). "Take That, Nintendo". Forbes. Vol. 157, no. 11. pp. 96–97. Retrieved August 4, 2020.

I can't find Electronic Gaming Monthly at all or full Forbes (only the abstract) [edit: I found full Forbes] in EBSCO or ProQuest though those citations say they were in Business Source Complete in 2013. That's EBSCO, right? Did they leave EBSCO? Thanks! — Smuckola(talk) 06:37, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: I have access to the third article (from my university ProQuest account). Please Wikimail me and I'll send it to you. —Bruce1eetalk 06:47, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
(Edit conflict:) Smuckola, I've sent you #3 from EBSCO. I can likewise not find the Electronic Gaming Monthly in EBSCO. I don't know if it's vanished from all bundles but I also noticed some discrepancy to our local library catalogue (which states that our EBSCO subscription extends to Electronic Gaming Monthly, issues 2000-12-01 - 2009-01-01), so that may indicate that indeed something changed on EBSCO's part. — Pajz (talk) 06:55, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Bruce1ee: thanks anyway, I got #3 from Pajz. @Pajz: Oh my goodness, are you telling me that there are different entire sets of publications in each bundle in different institutions' subscriptions to EBSCO? They bounce publications around between collections like Netflix versus HBO versus Starz, or Hulu versus Hulu Plus versus Live TV? That stinks. So does WP:LIBRARY have no EGM and only abstracts of Forbes? [edit: I found full Forbes] Or is it possible that they're duplicated in other collections within the multiverse of Wikipedia Library? I mean I don't even know how to search where to search within WP:LIBRARY. If not, this just makes us cite the third party master search engines like Internet Archive or fansites of magazine scans. Oh well, they can't take those away. I just care that I can make a permanent and free-of-charge accessible citation. Thank you so much for #3 at least, because I do need to read these myself for expanding the Wikipedia articles! — Smuckola(talk) 10:53, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Smuckola, don't know, or perhaps I misunderstand what you're saying. It's certainly true is that EBSCO offers different products with different publications and that, as a result of that, different institutions have access to different materials. I do not think, however, that if two institutions subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete they have access to different sets of publications. The institutions I am affiliated with do subscribe to EBSCO Business Source Complete, EBSCO Academic Search Complete, and a few other bundles, and I noticed in one of the local library catalogues that it says we have access to Electronic Gaming Monthly via EBSCO, while in fact, it doesn't look like we do. Given that these local catalogue entries are typically imported from the likes of EBSCO when the database is integrated into the local catalogue, and that the subsequent updating often isn't that reliable, my guess was simply that the journal used to be available in EBSCO but no longer is. That does happen sometimes. I take it from Umimmak's comment that they've run into a similar issue. — Pajz (talk) 17:15, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: in theory I have online access to the first two, but I'm having issues with the database so I've emailed my librarian and hopefully I can get a response. At the very least once COVID is over I'll have access to the print volumes. (P.S. You might want to consider striking out the third request if you've received a copy already just to make things clearer to other editors.) Umimmak (talk) 14:40, 4 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Umimmak: Guess what. In fact, Nikki of the WP:LIBRARY sent me this URL to the full article of #3 and it is the same content as what Pajz had sent me. Can I shorten that URL? Are you guys thinking that WP:LIBRARY has no EGM whatsoever? Thanks! — Smuckola(talk) 01:41, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: hey just wanted to give an update and that I still am working on the Electronic Gaming Monthly but it's taking me longer than expected to fulfill those requests. Umimmak (talk) 20:55, 11 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like this is gonna be even more delayed, my library has had a lot of services pushed back recently. Might have to wait until things open up more, apologies for any false hope. Umimmak (talk) 19:57, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

An ACM article called A full system x86 simulator for teaching computer organization contains information pertaining to the simulation of x86 computers. As evidenced by Google Scholar, it contains keywords such as VGA, serial port, interrupts, and DOSBox. This article may be relevant to me in my search for more sources, because it may contain something useful that is related to DOSBox, which subject's article I am editing. Some video game reviews

{{stale}}

  • "Worms". Amiga Action (78). January 1996. ISSN 0957-4050.
  • "Christmas Games Guide". Computer Trade Weekly. No. 565. 1995-11-27. p. 43.
  • "Worms". PC Review (41, 49–51). United Kingdom. 1995. ISSN 0266-321X. — there must be a review of Worms in one the issues, most probably in one from 49 to 51. Also there's possibly a preview of this game in the issue 41 or so. The reason for me believing so is that it was mentioned in The One magazine that PC Review also expressed interest in this game. Unfortunately, 1995 issues of this magazine are unavailable online.
  • "Worms". PC Games (8). United Kingdom. 1995. ISSN 1351-0290. — there could be a preview of Worms in this one too as it was also mentioned in The One as one of the magazines that participated in testing the early version of the game. It shut down before the game was released, but there still may be a preview, presumably in its March 1995 issue (008).

Hello guys, looking for particular reviews from some old game magazines. I'm writing an article about Worms 1995 video game from scratch in the Russian Wikipedia (it is going to replace the existing stub and become featured). I'm able to find most of the reviews online, but some are unavailable, like this one. Maybe I will add more articles from other magazines to my request some time later or will create a new request if this one will be archived by that time, but for now it's just what you see.

Thank you very much for your efforts. Coolak (talk) 20:26, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

P. S. please ping me if you're able to help and/or comment anything because I barely open English Wikipedia. Thank you. Coolak (talk) 20:43, 2 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Coolak, I haven't found a full run of Amiga Action claimed by preservationists. There are a bunch of Amiga and retro mag preservationist circles online that you could ask, but it's going to be hard to find. Alternatively, @Miyagawa, are you still a reader at the British Library? This editor is looking for a scan from issue 78 from this holding. For more holdings, see OCLC 872610756. (not watching, please {{ping}}) czar 06:19, 8 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Czar: Thank you for the suggestion. Indeed, I have seen on abime that it's one of the rare issues, and I have used all of the Google Search advanced techniques that I know of. That's why I created this request as the last resort, so maybe someone with access to British libraries could help. Coolak (talk) 01:31, 9 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Added a page from a weekly UK newspaper to my request. Now it's more than "video game reviews", but I decided to keep the title in case someone has it bookmarked. Coolak (talk) 09:08, 15 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
