Can anybody with access to The Times please check if Shamash, Jack (March 6, 2004). "Yiddish once again speaks for itself". is the source for this paragraph in the Yiddish article?

Note: I am aware the article number is not the same, but since 1. an article with that number doesn't exist in their archives, 2. the structure of that website's pages has been changed, and 3. this is the only article that seems to be discussing the same subject, I wonder if perhaps this is the same article or if it at least contains the same information relevant to the "Yiddish" article. Debresser, the article is generally supportive of the statements made in the first two sentences of that paragraph, but the geographical information in the paragraph is more detailed than that in the article. NewsLibrary.com appears to have two articles of use: "Cool 2 Know the List", published by Newsday on January 11, 2006 and "Animation fest bigger, better than ever at 30", published by The News-Gazette, published on October 1, 2006. @Prisencolin: There is a photo that matches the description given on twingalaxies.com in: "Video Game V.I.P.s". Life. Vol. 6, no. 1. January 1983. pp. 72–73. It is accompanied by 245 words of text, a short caption, and ten captioned photos of individual players. The article pre-dates the team, and supports none of the content of U.S. National Video Game Team, but does mention Twin Galaxies Arcade, Walter Day, and Billy Mitchell. The posting on twingalaxies.com doesn't quote the first sentence of the Life article accurately, but it's close. The actual text is: "It has become a $5.7 billion industry, and Ottumwa, Iowa (pop. 27,381), a town 85 miles southeast of Des Moines, is the unlikely video game capital of the world." Prisencolin Sorry, I guess I didn't make myself clear. The twingalaxies.com page is not the Life magazine article. It only quotes the first sentence of Life, and it muffs the dollar value. Twingalaxies.com claims to describe the background behind the making of the photograph in Life. There certainly is such a photo, and the story is plausible, but whether it is true or not is anybody's guess. I would treat it as a self-published source. As for the Life magazine article, it has a little bit about Walter Day, founder of Twin Galaxies Arcade, and shows that Bill Mitchell was one of the sixteen players photographed together in Ottumwa, but it doesn't even prove Day and Mitchell met each other. It certainly isn't an article about the team (which, if Wikipedia is correct, didn't come into being until 7-9 months later). --Worldbruce (talk) 08:18, 14 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Magiciandude: Still nothing at this end. I believe there's a known bug with sending wikimail from a yahoo account, and perhaps that extends to other service providers. I've recently received email from Wikipedians using gmail, hotmail, and live, so any of those should work. Coverage of boutique libraries (genealogical, museum, philatelic, etc.) and those in developing countries (like India) is spotty, but for most searches it's invaluable. After that it's donkey work. For the Year 1800. on a more extensive plan than any hitherto offered to the public. Containing Complete and Correct lists of the Company's Civil Military, Marine, Law, and Revenue Establishments: Public Offices: Bankers: Greek, Armenian, Mogul, and Portuguese Merchants; Company's Agents at Home and Abroad: with A Correct list of British European Subjects residing in India, not in Company's Service, &c.,&c.,&c.", 182 pages, a digitized version of a copy held at the British Libraries.

Page 172 is part of "A List of Europeans not in the Service of the East India Company, but residing under their Protection, at Bombay and its Subordinates, or employed in Merchant Vessels belonging to the Port." The last name on the page is indeed "Richardfon Gilbert Geddes, mariner," (although the "Geddes" is indistinct; it looks like "Ci dd s") and the first name on p. 173 is "Richardfon, James Douglas, coroner and fcavenger".

I can't provide pdfs at the moment, as the site is semi-broken and I can only navigate by changing the &pageIndex= parameter in the url directly. And I think you may have answered what can be answered from the Kalendar ... we now know what p.172 is showing, which is to do with Gilbert Geddes and not to do with Catherine Richardson. There were two questions to be answered: 1. was our subject called Caroline or Catherine. I think that's now decided as Catherine. 2. Did our subject really travel to India in 1799, meet and get married by end April? ODNB says so; I'm not convinced & think she may have travelled at an earlier age. I had hoped the Kalendar might show us a 'list of Brits new to india arriving in this year' ... now we know it is not doing so.

Do you have access to the Asiatic Journal, 23 (1827), pp. 887–9 ... I'd like to know what the ODNB found in that. Richardson was back in the UK, Gilbert was long dead, no book had being published by Catherine. I'm presuming it'll be something about David Lester Richardson and his furlough to the UK. Her kids had to be born by 1805/6, so the youngest would be say 21, and would not be listed amongst the Masters; and her direct India connection appears to end with her (undated) return after the 1805 death of Gilbert. Thus: very unclear a) who these Richardsons are and b) why ODNB reference the pages. Rhetorical question: are there passanger lists anywhere that throw light on Catherine Richardson travelling to India in or before 1799, and travelling back from 1805 onwards? The Asiatic Journal started in 1816 [8] so it's no help. Volume 1 of the Asiatic Annual Register lists the marriage p.177. ODNB lists Lloyds Shipping Lists, and I presume this is from where they've gleaned her movements. I'll mark this thread as done within 24 hours ... I think I may have taken up more than my fair share of Resource Request time and we probably should all move on to the next Woman in Red biography. Hi RX,

I'm looking for an issue of French popular science magazine Sciences et Avenir, issue 147 (2006): "Les Fictions de la Science". The whole issue is of interest, but particularly Stéphane Hergueta's article "Les rhinogrades" (or possibly "Rhinogradentia"). It's to use in the article Rhinogradentia. I can't actually read French very well, which makes searching difficult. Best I've found is an ebay listing, which I might end up going for. Most of them are behind paywalls, and it makes it a major hassle to find information pertaining to the earthquake history of Oklahoma as a result. If at all possible, I would like access to this publication from the BSSA. I would also like access to a publication called "A century of induced earthquakes in Oklahoma?" which is behind another paywall despite containing research of USGS scientists. Lastly, I would like to see the the second page of this work of the Oklahoma City Geological Society. There are some other pages I would like access to as well, but I don't want to make too many requests at once, so if necessary, I will ask about those later. The articles I am working to improve include 2009–16 Oklahoma earthquake swarms and Draft:List of earthquakes in Oklahoma among others.
