Guidelines for adding to this page

  1. This page is intended to provide editors with a ready reference of known reliable sources that can be used in relation to the WikiProject Orders, Decorations and Medals' work.
  2. This is not a page for nugatory trivia. Notwithstanding it needs to be of practical use for editors working with orders, decorations and medals.
  3. Only add key reliable sources that are of general relevance such as major works describing a given country's honours system or honours lists that document the appointment to an order or award of a decoration to a significant number of individuals.
  4. Don't add sources that are of narrow relevance such as statutes for a specific order, awards to a small number of individuals (except if part of a series - eg London Gazette honours lists), etc; these belong on the relevant article page.
  5. If the source is a key reliable source about a specific award and an article for the award doesn't exist yet, the reference may be parked here until the article is created. Better is to create the article and incorporate the reference.
  6. This page is a living document: if you see something that should be here and it isn't, add it; if you see a link is broken - try and fix it, or alert the project if you can't.

  1. This list is currently incomplete, if you know of other London Gazette honours and/or promotion lists, please add them.
  2. Heading Legend - List: WW1-L= World War 1 list for land forces. Hon=Does list contain honours? Prom=Does list contain promotions?
  3. The specific classes or grades of named honours are not uniquely identified in the above table but are in the sources.
  4. In several instances in the WW1 gazzetes, specific honours are detailed in multiple locations in a given gazette so it pays to check the whole gazette.
  5. Foreign honours are listed as shown in the original and therefore may not always comply with WP:USEENGLISH.
  6. Promotion information is only available in the London Gazette for commissioned officers.
  7. World War I honours lists incorporate British, Australian, Canadian, British India, New Foundland, New Zealand and South African personnel.
  8. World War I promotion lists incorporate British and British Indian Army officers only (all branches).

Uruguay

The higher level legal statutes (including bylaws about decorations) are published in the Diario Oficial official gazzette. These are publised online in IMPO (National Directorate of Official Printings and Publications) website. There could also be searched by regulation instead of by Diario Oficial's issue. The law-level regulations could be searched in Uruguayan parliament's official website.

  • Regulations including the Constitution, Laws, Decrees and bylaws of decorations' creation and procedures are very likely to be found in whether websites.
  • Some of the decisions about allowing to award or awarding directly a honoree can be found in IMPO's website, but that's not the case for all the decorations. 1st level military awards grantees' administrative resolutions and Medal of the Republic can be found, but that's not the case for historical campaigns, second-to-below level military awards and other civilian ones. There seem to be registries of decorated individuals for some or every decoration, but only in paper hidden in public offices, so would be hard to be remotely accessed, and even harder for the registries of military awards, likely to be found at the General Commands of the respective armed forces or at the Ministry of Defense. For these cases, there should be searched other secondary sources to confirm if a person was awarded or not a certain Uruguayan decoration.
