Welcome to this medicine task force. If you have any questions about articles or are generally seeking advice, you're encouraged to ask at the Medicine talk page, the centralized point for discussion, thank you.

The Pathology task force of WikiProject Medicine aims to better organize information in the articles related to Pathology and its subsidiaries including anatomic pathology, clinical pathology/laboratory medicine and investigative pathology.

Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease. It is also a collection of medical specialities which focus on the diagnosis of disease based on changes in microscopic morphology and the determination of death, which includes forensic pathology. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page and see the to-do list there.

The overall goal of the pathology task force is to make Wikipedia the most comprehensive pathology resource for the public. Specific goals of the task force are:

• Refine sections of existing medicine articles pertaining to mechanisms of disease
• Ensure that articles created on pathology topics are thoroughly referenced and include up-to-date links to the most recent literature
• Explain the use of evidence-based medicine in pathology
• Maintain consistency per WP:MEDMOS on pathology articles
• Produce pathology-themed featured articles based on the above
• Strenghten the articles related to forensics
• Increase the number of images attached to articles - making use of freely available images from places like:
  • Wikicommons - see: Wikicommons Main Page, KGH, Nephron
  • Pathology Wikibook and its more advanced German version

All Wikipedians are welcome to join! You need no medical expertise or specific pathology expertise in order to contribute to this task force.

Experimental pathology preferred to Investigative pathology

Clinical pathology preferred to Laboratory medicine

Clinical chemistry preferred to Chemical pathology

Anatomical pathology preferred to Anatomic pathology

Improving the quality of the "core" pages listed on the template {{pathology}} (see below) is a top priority for the project. Note that some of the "tools" pages (e.g. electron microscopy) are well-developed but lack coverage of the topic in the context of pathology

The template for marking an article as part of the Pathology task force is part of the WikiProject Medicine banner, {{WPMED}}. It can be inserted into an article's talkpage with:

The first "importance" parameter is the subject's importance to the overall field of medicine, according to the guidelines here. The importance of a subject to the field of pathology should be listed with the "pathology-imp" parameter.
