The goal of this WikiProject is to provide complete coverage of Eritrea by expanding articles on people, places, and things related to the country. We need to start a list of encyclopedia articles directly relevant to this project at exhaustive list of articles. This list should include all substantive articles in print encyclopedias relating to this topic that are not covered by Wikipedia.

Administrative department -- This department will develop a comprehensive Manual of Style for Eritrea-related articles including transliteration and pronunciation of words usually written in Ge'ez script. This department will also be in charge of clean-up of good articles and flagging of articles that need attention by other departments
Outreach department -- These editors work to recruit and welcome new editors to the project.
Sub-projects -- The following departments will concentrate on specific topics. Notice each Subproject has its own page. You can suggest new articles for the sub-project in its own page. Some articles maybe within the scope of more than one department.
History and politics department -- History of Eritrea, Politics of Eritrea, wars, battles, history of church, historical biographies, Political biographies etc.

Eritreans commonly use their fathers' given names as patronymics after their own. Sometimes their father's father's name appears in third place, but this style is usually for official documents; only in rare circumstances would Eritreans adopt their grandfather's name as a last name for common usage. Note that if the name is Tigrinya, it does not imply that a subject is a member of the Tigray people, as many other groups also use Tigrinya names.
Many Eritrean names are compound nouns in Ge'ez unless this unusual usage can be verified in a reliable source, which then needs to be added to the relevant article.
Eritreans, especially in the West, will frequently adopt their own transliteration scheme for styling themselves, that does not always correspond to any of the various schemes employed by linguists. Whenever proper names become notable under such ad hoc spellings, they should be preferred as the most common searchable term, e.g. songstress Manalemosh Dibo. Articles about musicians with stage names are listed at their more familiar name with the legal name given in the article lead sentence.
This also applies to names of albums, songs, etc. that are sometimes transliterated directly as proper names. The name of an album is italicised, and if desired, the English interpretation could be given in parentheses and quotation marks ("like this").
