Welcome to WikiProject Deserts.
The aim of this WikiProject is to improve the content and material of articles of or relating to deserts on Wikipedia.
If you would like to help, please join the project.

Our goals

• Improve the geological aspect of the world's deserts
• Expand coverage on desert-specific features and habitats

Our scope

• The individual deserts and xeric ecoregions
• Geology, hydrology, climate and ecology of deserts
• Civilization and culture of people in deserts
• Tourism, conservation and development of deserts

Getting started

• Add your name to the participants to get started!
• Watchlist bulletin board for future news, straw polls and collaboration efforts.
• Get familiar with the basic definition of desert.
• Get familiar with ecoregions of deserts.

Outreach (Articles) If you find desert-related articles that need attention, use the stub box to keep track of them. (see instructions) {{Desert-stub}} {{topography-stub}} Place {{Expand|date=???}} on the top of the article needing content expansion. For a specific section of the article, place {{Expand section}} on the top of that section. You can add {{cleanup|date=???}} banner on the top of articles that require cleaning up. If you find a desert-related article without the project banner on its talk page, add {{Template:WikiProject Deserts}} on top of the talk page. (see instructions) Avoid clustering of banners on a talk page by using {{WikiProjectBanners}}. If you find an article on a desert without an infobox, add {{Infobox desert}} at the top of that article. (see instructions) Add {{Reqinfobox}} to talk page of the article to requiring an infobox. To request images: Add {{Reqmap}} on the talk page of the article requiring a map. Add {{Image requested}} on the talk page of the article requiring a photograph. If you find a desert-related article without a navbox, add {{Deserts}} at the end of that article. (see instructions) Outreach (Participants) You can invite other Wikipedians by placing {{subst:WP Deserts Invite}} on their talk page. (see instructions first) You can welcome new members by placing {{subst:WP Deserts Welcome}} on their talk page.
