CSBRelevant for countering systemic bias

Welcome to the WikiProject Democratic Republic of the Congo! This group was formed to better organize articles on the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a spirit of cooperation.

Scope

This group includes within its scope all articles related to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, its cities, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on. It aims to expand Wikipedia's resources on the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a fair and accurate manner. All of these articles should be contained within the Category:Democratic Republic of the Congo or one of its subcategories. This Project intends to cover an area that traditionally is low on Wikipedia's radar (See WP:Countering systematic bias). Please improve by joining and contributing.

Our mission

Worldwide density of geotagged Wikipedia entries. Really adds a whole new meaning to the phrase, "Dark Continent"...

Like our WikiProject Africa brethren, we have before us a large task: filling in the gap on Wikipedia concerning all things Congolese. This is probably one of the more difficult country-topics to maintain; the Congo is one of largest and most diverse African states, and has been in a state of instability since 1997.

The advantage? A clean slate. WikiProject DRC members have considerable latitude to create, edit, and revise relevant articles without the disruption of conjecture additions, unduly weighted material, or in-general unhelpful good faith edits (though some of our higher profile articles do suffer from this e.g. Patrice Lumumba). The French Wikipedia is a good place to start when looking for holes to fix. Just about all areas of the project are open to improvement.
