Welcome to WikiProject Australian historic places. Some Wikipedians have formed this collaboration resource and group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of Australian historic places and the organisation of information and articles on this topic. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions and various resources; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians interested in the topic. If you would like to help, please join the project, enquire on the talk page and see the to-do list below.

• Improve Wikipedia's coverage of significant, heritage-listed sites in Australia.
• Create guidelines to assist in the creation of new articles.

This WikiProject covers Australian sites listed in the following heritage registers, in order of priority:

• Commonwealth Heritage List;
• Australian National Heritage List; and
• State and territory government heritage lists, as detailed below.

Heritage places and lists compiled by the National Trust of Australia and their state or territory-based organisations, whilst important, should not take precedence over government-endorsed registers.

The places within this WikiProject are important to Australia's history, rather than sites of local significance.
