Retarget to Watergate scandal to match Watergate? I'm not seeing how a space between words is distinguishable from the compound word in a way that makes them refer to two different topics per WP:SMALLDETAILS. Steel1943 (talk) 23:32, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose The space is obviously a detail that matters. No one ever refers to the scandal or complex as "Water gate" unless they were making a spelling mistake. -- King of ♥ 04:18, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per King of Hearts. Down to page 7 of google results when searching for "water gate" -Wikipedia not a single result was for the scandal, instead they were for various examples of the architectural term and a non-notable product called "Water-Gate". Thryduulf (talk) 12:42, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per King of Hearts; the space matters. Edward-Woodrow (talk) 13:17, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per above comments. Doesn't seem like a plausible typo for the scandal. The extant hatnote is sufficient. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 14:37, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect target is ambigous. It could refer to the fifth movement of the Partitia no. 2 in D minor (current target), or it could refer to Pachelbell's Chaconne in D minor. I think the best option is to Disambiguate the two pages NW1223<Howl at meMy hunts> 15:44, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep with hatnote. It is unusual to create a disambiguation page for just two pages. Yoblyblob (talk) 16:32, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary redirect, as likely as ending with a full stop. Steel1943 (talk) 14:22, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete! per nom. I suspect this is the proper name of something (probably actually more than one), but as we don't have any content about that thing this is not useful. Thryduulf (talk) 14:25, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Take away. Same author as the full-stop redirects listed below, and similar logic applies. There is nothing special about the combination of Pizza and an exclamation mark, so treat it the same as other articles and don't have such a redirect. Certes (talk) 16:02, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hottest planetVenus  (talk · links · history · stats)     [ Closure: keep/retarget/delete ]

Recently created redirect which is only partially correct. While Venus is the hottest planet in our solar system, it isn't the universe. KELT-9b is the currently known title holder. Either delete, or some target page which lists hottest planets. Gonnym (talk) 12:29, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep: I think most readers will think of "hottest planet" as referring to Venus, as opposed an exoplanet 670 ly distant. Edward-Woodrowtalk 12:38, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep. Seems likely for someone to search hottest planet while looking for Venus. Possible they could also be looking for KELT-9b, so weak keep for now from me Yoblyblob (talk) 14:11, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment we have List of Solar System extremes (which only contains the word "hottest" in the title of a reference, the tables use "highest average temperature" and List of exoplanet extremes which are both in Category:Lists of superlatives in astronomy but that category has no associated list and I think it's a step too far removed to be a good target for this redirect directly. Adding a hatnote from Venus to the exoplanet list would be fine on its own, but that would suggest we should also add corresponding hatnotes for other extremes on the articles about solar system planets that could get unwieldy. My gut feeling is that a list paralleling the category, organised into sections (e.g. "by temperature") we could target would be good here but I'm unsure. I'll leave a note for the Astronomy project. Thryduulf (talk) 14:21, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to List of hottest exoplanets: That list is by no means complete, but it is far better than the current target, in the sense of it indicating the list's topic. However, as a significant portion of readers searching for "Hottest planet" likely want the article Venus, a hatnote to it would also be advisable. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 17:04, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete or retarget to List of hottest exoplanets. Even though it may be in our Solar System it isn't in the universe. Crouch, Swale (talk) 21:50, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep per above. Venus is a likelier target than an exoplanet. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 14:38, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to List of hottest exoplanets, consistent with similar redirects such as Biggest planet. –LaundryPizza03 (d) 04:30, 8 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to List of hottest exoplanets, which already lists Venus if that's what the searcher is looking for. * Pppery * it has begun... 04:32, 9 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete all of them. Looks like trolling — created within 10 minutes by the same editor who then asked to have their user page deleted. The edit summary for all of them says, "The redirect 'Wikipedia.' exists too, so I created this." Sounds as though the editor is making the point that they're adding a few more useless redirects. I agree — it's a waste of storage space to keep any redirects with page names followed by a period. The search results are exactly the same with and without the period (and with and without a hyphen or a question mark, for that matter). Space4Time3Continuum2x (cowabunga) 13:26, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

For what it's worth, I think it may be premature to do a WP:CIR block, considering this editor has been editing for only 3 months. I think WP:AGF is necessary at this point, unless these issues continue. (Also, per the redirect creator's talk page, it seems as though they may have realized they need to take a step back from making such redirects ... and such edits in general.) Steel1943 (talk) 16:20, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I checked over the editor's contribs history. Appears like a combination of a WP:CIR & WP:NOTHERE situation, as I'm not impressed with their response at their talkpage. GoodDay (talk) 16:22, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) Yeah, was going to make a reference to their talk page outburst, as well as edit my previous comment (but then the edit conflict occurred.) Just saying ... I am not convinced yet that they do not want to improve the encyclopedia, but if they keep blowing up like they did on their talk page without being able to take a step back and improve how they are editing (saying this out of my own experiences with blowing up in anger a few times) ... agreed, they need a break, voluntary or involuntary, and hopefully it does not lead to the latter. Steel1943 (talk) 16:28, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all as pointless. The creation of these rests on the fallacious ground that having one redirect in this style (Wikipedia.) means we should add millions more. Glades12 (talk) 16:28, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Comment: Just noticed in each of these redirects, the creator of these redirects stated the reason for their creation is the existence of the redirect "Wikipedia.". Well ... That redirect has been at RFD twice in the last 15 years, and can probably now be called the poster child for creating this nomination's WP:PANDORA situation. Nothing connects this fever specifically to the US, and the four sources at the target are about Israel[1][2], Turkey[3], or general (the "Handbook of Pediatric Surgery"). Fram (talk) 08:46, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete. The lack of specific connection to the United States is not massively relevant (c.f. COVID-19 pandemic in the United States), but the lack of any content related to the United States is. Thryduulf (talk) 14:29, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I will just repeat what I've said in Fram's innumerable previous attempts to delete epidemiology redirects because they were created by myself: Wikipedia:Competence is required. However as in the previous redirects not much competence is required. It is necessary only to read the sources. In this case all of the four discuss prevalence and research specific to the USA. Of these https://books.google.com/books?vid=ISBN9781848821323 discusses epidemiology in the USA most broadly of all of the sources, https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1521694200900895 discusses epidemiology in the USA, https://actamedica.lfhk.cuni.cz/57/3/0097/ discusses disease presentation typical to the USA population and https://www.nature.com/articles/5200446 is much more specific to a different country and only briefly mentions a single allele in a sinle patient in the USA. Invasive Spices (talk) 22:08, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
What I did there was ask Fram to explain the redirect move to Invasive Spices. I agree with Mdewman6 that the redirect suppression did not meet the criteria - the title is not a typo or misnomer. However, with the support here for deletion, and with Invasive Spices indefinitely blocked by Tamzin for personal attack as a fallout of this RfD, the "backdoor deletion by bypassing RfD" discussion is moot. • Delete as there is no content specific to the U.S. at the target. I also believe the suppress-move by Fram did not meet the criteria for redirect suppression (i.e., the WP:CSD, including WP:PMRC#7 aka WP:R3); Rfd is the proper way to handle poor redirects, and redirects with improved titles can be made de novo rather than moving redirects. • Delete. Now that we're having a proper discussion the issue of backdoor deletion of a redirect and the importance of keeping the history of what was only ever a redirect is moot. This was not a good redirect as there is no US-specific content at the target. Good faith requires me to assume that this was not merely a case of article-creation-credit squatting in the hope that someone would later want to make a real article under this title, but it is difficult to come up with better explanations. —David Eppstein (talk) 05:58, 7 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect was created in 2007 and redirected to Qian Lin due to her nickname in Japan, Lin Lin (romanized as "RinRin"). RinRin isn't even how Qian Lin's nickname is spelled in secondary sources. I think this should be replaced with a disambiguation page as there are other subjects that use "RinRin", such as RinRin Doll, Rinrin Marinka, and Rinrin & Ranran. lullabying (talk) 02:53, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per WP:UFILM. Target subject released over a month ago, the redirect has no article space incoming links, and page views are averaging 1/day. Steel1943 (talk) 00:10, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep for now. This redirect has received exactly one view every day since 3 September, which is not a pattern I can recall seeing before, but given that page views in excess of single digits per month typically indicate a continuing utility for the redirect deleting this now would be harmful. If the pattern of exactly 1 view per day continues for a few weeks after this RfD is closed (page views while a redirect is listed at RfD are not representative) though then at that point we need to consider whether the views are human but at this point we have insufficient information to tell. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thryduulf (talkcontribs) 01:55, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There are no "upcoming film" topics on the target page. This redirect was probably intended to disambiguate Unicorns (2023 British film) and Unicorns (2023 Spanish film), however the former was released over half a year ago and the latter was released over two months ago, so WP:UFILM applies.
