A random assortment of words relating to the attack does not really serve much purpose as a redirect. Willbb234 20:06, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing that whoever created this redirect didn't understand redirects (as in, "Go on" was a way of saying "Look elsewhere"). I moved the redirect, but of course the this redirect page now points to the new redirect page which then points to the article. DELETE. -- John Broughton (♫♫) 17:41, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep as an {{R from move}}. "Go on Country – Social Integration Party" was the title of the article until recently. - Presidentman talk · contribs (Talkback) 02:10, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (fix double redirect, this should target Advance Country) - Nom apparetly put little effort into looking into this, judging from "whoever created this redirect didn't understand redirects" - it was created as a result of a page-move, and the article has had titles using this translation of "Avanza País" for over a decade. Keep per Presidentman. A7V2 (talk) 05:33, 2 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not an alias for Mohammed Souleimani Laalami. There is another former Moroccan Guantanamo detainee named Mohamed Mazouz, so the redirect is a source of confusion. Mooonswimmer 15:36, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Suri Cruise

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep. Not unambiguously an XY, since Katie Holmes was awarded custody. Little seems to have changed since the consensus of the previous two discussions about this girl. wbm1058 (talk) 22:40, 27 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The section no longer exists. ErceÇamurOfficial (talk) 15:27, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Should be retargeted then, the subject is still mentioned on the target page. Ymblanter (talk) 15:58, 16 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete to allow for uninhibited search. Unless a specific section (and I mean specific, not just mentions) is included then I think it is better to allow for the search engine to do its job. There are multiple articles which mention her including Tom Cruise, and a section of the article Daniel Edwards who apparently named an artwork after her. A7V2 (talk) 07:18, 17 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: I added an anchor at Katie Holmes#Personal life. "Uninhibited search" is not a valid reason to delete a redirect. The search function will find the article and give readers an option for "search for pages containing _____". Grorp (talk) 02:23, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Allowing uninhibited search is a very commonly cited reason to delete a redirect. While not specifically mentioned anywhere, it is somewhat based on WP:RFD#D1, WP:XY, WP:RPURPOSE ("Sub-topics or other topics which are described or listed within a wider article") and WP:COMMONSENSE. In cases where it is arguable (by which I mean you don't have to agree) whether there is a single article which best describes the subtopic, then it certainly a valid option to suggest deletion on this grounds. A7V2 (talk) 03:24, 18 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete since it's an WP:XY issue without an article, since Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are both notable. Steel1943 (talk) 16:40, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep (technically re-refine) per WP:XY, which states that redirects should be deleted if they could equally point to multiple targets (my emphasis added). The options are not equal here. Katie Holmes#Personal life says: The couple's daughter, Suri, was born on April 18, 2006, the first anniversary of their first date. The name "Suri", as reported by Cruise's press release, derives from the Persian word for "red rose". Tom Cruise#Relationships says: In April 2006, their daughter Suri was born. Katie Holmes' article has much more information, so it should redirect accordingly. -- Tavix (talk) 18:12, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Refine per Tavix. If the created anchor has to be used, it may be placed at the 3rd paragraph of the section, otherwise I don't see the utility of an anchor that is intended for a section. Jay 💬 06:26, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Tavix, refining doesn't appear to be necessary given the addition of an anchor at the target (although ultimately I'm indifferent to how exactly we choose to pipe the redirect to the correct spot). signed, Rosguill talk 20:42, 13 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep - Not named as such, but in some sense it is still discussed. Could be refined to Vector space#Definition and basic properties which gives a fully abstract definition at least. Second preference delete per nom. A7V2 (talk) 00:17, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak keep per User:A7V2. I imagine someone searching for this phrase is probably interested in "vector spaces with scalars in an arbitrary field F" as described at the target. —Mx. Granger (talk · contribs) 01:51, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • At 21:15, 26 August 2013 Red Slash moved Template:Fake citation needed to Template:Fake. Pinging although I note they announced a Wikibreak a couple days ago. – wbm1058 (talk) 03:03, 24 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. While the documentation says this template is used to create a dummy version of {{citation needed}} for use in documentation, I found this shortcut's use was for making arguably pointy arguments in discussions. I bypassed the redirect in the six talk pages and two move reviews where it was used. – wbm1058 (talk) 16:57, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Why would anyone type in this specific term? Even if someone wanted to search for his full legal name, I think it is doubtful that they would do it in parentheses next to his stage name. Partofthemachine (talk) 05:36, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep. This probably isn't very useful, but it's been around for a long time and is technically correct. I get the desire to cleanup stuff, but there really isn't a good reason to delete. Mdewman6 (talk) 17:56, 22 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was soft redirect to Wikt:Achillean. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 08:23, 8 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Eponym not mentioned in the current target. Mentioned at LGBT slang. Possible potential for soft redirecting to wikt:Achillean, or disambiguating (similar to Sapphic) MikutoH (talk) 00:37, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Probably better redirected to Wiktionary, as anyone searching for it is likely looking for the meaning of the word, rather than for Achilles specifically. I would say that its primary meaning remains an adjective describing or relating to Achilles, of which the homoerotic meaning is a subset—but since Achilles is probably known primarily for his association with the Trojan War, that meaning is probably less obvious, and classical allusions such as "Sapphic" seem unlikely to become more familiar now that people don't need "code words" to describe homoerotic relationships. P Aculeius (talk) 11:32, 1 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
