It is not helpful to redirect to a target that has no mention of the subject in question. These redirects do imply that these songs charted, so they may be notable per WP:NSONG. Deletion to encourage article creation may be desirable. -- Tavix (talk) 21:24, 21 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Free At Last (Simon song) redirects to I Have a Dream#Legacy (without explicit mention). J947edits 06:03, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Should be bundled with Free At Last (Simon song). CycloneYoris talk! 08:57, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Acanthoid

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was soft redirect to Wikt:acanthoid. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 08:24, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned in the target article, leaving the connection between the redirect and the target article unclear. Steel1943 (talk) 03:49, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • If there were any incoming links, they should go to wikt:acanthoid. That page also turns up in a Wikipedia search. The current use of "acanthoid" in article space is fringe. Delete. Geschichte (talk) 06:52, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Proposing deletion as a potentially ambiguous rcat redirect. A redirect to a song is not necessarily a redirect from an album, and (from a brief search) there doesn't appear to be a more appropriate rcat that this could be retargeted to. Best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 03:02, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment. I'm slightly surprised that this isn't an RCat of it's own. Pinging Paine Ellsworth who will probably know any history this has. Thryduulf (talk) 11:28, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the ping, editor Thryduulf! History for {{R to song}} is brief: was created as a redirect to {{R from album}} in 2018 with {{R to rcat}} template added in 2021. Of the three mainspace usages, only one is actually from an album title, and the other two are from artists. Thryduulf, you might be thinking of the {{R from song}} rcat template, which gets a lot of usage usually on redirects to album titles. Would have to agree with the nom's assertion of ambiguity and would not be averse to deletion of this little-used redirect. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 12:23, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete per nom while removing existing transclusions with extreme prejudice ... per above. Steel1943 (talk) 16:14, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

List of accolades received by folklore

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the discussion was keep but redirected to its parent article: Folklore (Taylor Swift album) where the uppercase version also targets. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 08:22, 7 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This redirect was created after a page move to correct for a title that should be in upper case. I think the redirect title with the lower case can be misleading and is unnecessary. Shuipzv3 (talk) 14:16, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep per {{R from move}} and tag as {{R from incorrect capitalisation}}. The existence of the redirect is beneficial, not only to maintain links pointing to the former title, but also for people who use this capitalisation to search for the article. Thryduulf (talk) 03:38, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Delete per nomination. Searches are not case sensitive so it doesn't solve any existing issues. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 09:16, 29 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Only some methods of finding articles are case insensitive, others are case sensitive. Search suggestions are similarly only available for a subset of the ways people search Wikipedia. This is why we have multiple categories of redirects that differ only by capitalisation. Your comment also does not attempt to address the reasons why we routinely keep redirects from former page titles. Thryduulf (talk) 01:40, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete, List of accolades received by Folklore (i.e. with the right caps) is now itself a redirect. Geschichte (talk) 06:47, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
This is irrelevant. Some methods of finding Wikipedia content are case sensitive and searching in entirely lowercase is extremely plausible. Thryduulf (talk) 11:29, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Thryduulf. I don’t see any evidence of potential harm or confusion caused by this existing - WP:NCCAPS states that such redirects as these are harmless. In the absence of any harm, it seems like a quintessentially cheap redirect. As far as I can see, there is no reason for the proposed deletion that is based on the redirect guideline or any other policy/guideline.
In addition, the logo for Folklore is stylised in lowercase, making this redirect an entirely plausible search term which should be retained under WP:R#K3. Furthermore, WP:R#K4 states that redirects from moves should not normally be deleted without good reason. For these reasons, and in the absence of harm caused by this redirect, it should be kept. Best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 12:50, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Redirect from move should be maintained, retargeted and tagged with rcat templates as I've done within comment tags. Per above, this is the best solution here. P.I. Ellsworth , ed. put'er there 16:01, 31 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Harmless, slightly helpful. Retarget and tag with avoid double redirect and incorrect capitalization. Skynxnex (talk) 16:41, 2 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
