Malformed nomination that went to AfD (WP:Articles for deletion/Cabinet of brunei). Rationale by nominator DownTownRich is "Cabinet of Brunei is available as a redirect and the current title has Brunei with lower case letter B. Curbon7 (talk) 20:45, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep, lowercase is fine. No reason to delete given. J947messageedits 21:25, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per J947, that's a perfectly plausible way to search for the target (I can see some users forgetting to capitalize the B), plus perhaps for that reason it's still getting a decent number of pageviews. Regards, SONIC678 15:20, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The target does not disambiguate "Prussian holocaust", and "holocaust" is not mentioned at Prussia. Is there a target better than The Holocaust? Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 18:34, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete: I have no idea what this is supposed to mean. The article Prussian Holocaust, to which this redirect targeted at its creation, was deleted after an AfD in 2007. Maybe it is a historiographical POV to designate the evacuation of East Prussia? Veverve (talk) 19:14, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It almost certainly is. A link provided in that deletion discussion leads to an earlier AFD where it was mentioned that the now deleted article was originally a redirect to Evacuation of East Prussia. Checking that article confirms that the term holocaust isn’t mentioned so that would not be a valid target either. So based on the fact that it appears that the term isn’t mentioned the redirect should be deleted.--65.92.163.128 (talk) 21:10, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Also, in a attempt to be thorough I can confirm that the Prussia and Holocaust denial articles don’t mention the term either.--65.92.163.128 (talk) 21:17, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete - It should have been deleted when Prussian Holocaust was deleted. As indicated above no other sensible target exists. A7V2 (talk) 23:52, 9 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at target. Related to The Law of Nines? 1234qwer1234qwer4 12:45, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I have no idea. Today I noticed a long list of redirects for discussion had appeared on my talk page. All of them dated 24th of January except for this one which is dated today. Something fishy is going on. I don't know what any of these items is about and I have no memory of contributing to them. I suspect my account may have been hacked. I don't think "Law of Nine" is a real thing (although there is a "rule of nines" in Maths). I see no reason not to delete. wayland (talk) 22:47, 10 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Wayland Since you created this in 2005, it might be that you just do not remember. 1234qwer1234qwer4 15:50, 11 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Well, granted that it may have been in some context which has since been deleted or some context which depends on other links but I seriously have doubts about those possibilities because a whole stack of similar redirects came up for deletion at the same time and I don't recognise any of them. In any case I think deletion is the tidiest thing to do. If there was any hacking it was probably a long time ago and the culpret will be long gone. As for me I do little at Wikipedia these days but correct the occasional typo or grammatical error. wayland (talk) 15:18, 12 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Another batch of nonsense redirects similar to the ones 1234qwer1234qwer4 and I nominated yesterday. These are redirects from "Character sign + Code" to the articles on the numbers corresponding to the decimal equivalent of these symbol's ascii codes. Numerous issues here, including them being implausible search terms, them being highly ambiguous (there are a number of character encoding schemes and "code" isn't even unambiguous - &Code could mean HTML character reference for example) and the targets being surprising and generally not helpful, these essentially target trivia about the numbers. I propose deleting them all. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 11:39, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I was going to nominated them but stepped back and found you were already tagging them when I returned. These should either be retargeted to sections like Exclamation mark#Unicode code-points (with HTML) and Quotation mark#Unicode code point table or deleted as suggested, since directing the reader to the article about the number is not quite helpful. 1234qwer1234qwer4 11:45, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think deletion is the best bet here, these seem to ambiguous and implausible to be useful. My first thought when seeing "Code !" was Negation#Programming language and ordinary language, as in the use of ! as an operator in code. 192.76.8.77 (talk) 11:49, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete all: While the codepoint value of all of these are the values listed, it is not useful information and not really what redirects are to be used for. If one is trying to find the codepoint value of an individual character then there are articles for that such as the character page where it is listed in the infobox or article body (albeit in base 16). There is also ASCII#Printable characters to fulfill this purpose. I also find these to be implausible search terms. TartarTorte 19:11, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Not described at target; these are U+02C5 MODIFIER LETTER DOWN ARROWHEAD and U+02C4 MODIFIER LETTER UP ARROWHEAD, annotated in Unicode with "raised articulation" and "lowered articulation" respectively. 1234qwer1234qwer4 11:25, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Note they are:
U+02C5 ˅ MODIFIER LETTER DOWN ARROWHEAD fileformat
U+02C4 ˄ MODIFIER LETTER UP ARROWHEAD fileformat
so, spacing not combining. -DePiep (talk) 12:07, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: they do not seem to have obvious targets [1] [2]; e.g., no math meaning. What retargeting do you propose? -DePiep (talk) 12:13, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Spacing Modifier Letters seems to be most obvious; ˂ and ˃ by the same creator as this one have already been retargeted there. Either way, these have nothing to do with the current target (unlike U+02C6 ˆ MODIFIER LETTER CIRCUMFLEX ACCENT and U+02C7 ˇ CARON, which incidentally come just after the characters used in the nominated redirects), so they could as well be deleted if this target suggestion is deemed inappropriate too. 1234qwer1234qwer4 12:26, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Damage over time already redirects to the same place. This seems like an attempt to combine two different languages in one redirect. • Delete: very vague (may possibly also refer to one or more coding function) and not present at the target. I think Dash and Dot should also be deleted for the same reason. Veverve (talk) 14:05, 10 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete along with Dash and Dot. Much too vague. Doug Weller talk 14:26, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • It used to redirect to Special:Permalink/176495537#PBS Kids circle logo idents, which did not actually say in the first place that this ident was called "Dot and Dash". Uncle G (talk) 15:05, 11 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. (non-admin closure) CycloneYoris talk! 01:54, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I was originally going to suggest retargeting this to Google, but taking a look at pl:Gogole Wielkie confirms that Gogole-Steczki also exists (and pl:Gogole does not). And from what I can tell, neither locality is referred to as simply "Gogole", so outright deletion may be a better option. - CHAMPION (talk) (contributions) (logs) 00:30, 8 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
