Template:R from hex triplet

The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.

Besides hexadecimal not being exclusive to color, the use of the word "triplet" could be seen as misleading. "Triplet" would suggest 3, whereas hexadecimal color codes have 6 digits, meaning "sextuplet" would be more accurate. (The nominated redirect currently has no transclusions.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:25, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Steel1943, I think hex codes can have triplets, e.g. 00F, which is equivalent to 0000FF. ― Qwerfjkltalk 06:12, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Hex triplet, which redirects to a section of web colors. There it is explained that the "triplet" part refers to three bytes, which are represented by six digits. Even if hex triplets are not exclusive to color, it certainly seems to be the overwhelmingly primary use for them. -- Tavix (talk) 15:22, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Template:R hexadecimal

The result of the discussion was retarget to Template:R from code. plicit 00:15, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hexadecimal is not limited to colors, leaving this redirect misleading. (At the present time, this redirect has no transclusions.) Steel1943 (talk) 22:20, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Template:R from code, which explicitly mentions hexadecimal codes as an example. (That may need to be clarified due to the target RCAT and Template:R from Unicode code, which are hexadecimal.) -- Tavix (talk) 15:33, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Template:R from code per Tavix. When I created the shortcut, I didn't know there was a generic rcat for codes nor that it explicitly mentions the hexadecimals. Since the hexadecimal system is not solely used to identify colours, I support such a change of target. Dsuke1998AEOS (talk) 16:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I am the author of this redirect and I request its deletion. The surname Manuilă is misspelled, it should be Mănuilă. Super Ψ Dro 09:53, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Title is ungrammatical Dr Salvus 05:33, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep - Personally, I'd be inclined to think we should delete both the redirect and the target userbox. However, discussion of the target userbox should be at WP:MFD, not here. As long as the target remains, I think the redirect should remain so that on the off chance someone is looking for it at the original title (either because they made a typo or because they know where it was before), the redirect should be kept. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 13:40, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Keep as a valid {{R from move}}. NotReallyMoniak (talk) 14:52, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. The userbox was at this title for 5 months. Glades12 (talk) 18:25, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per the above. BD2412 T 19:18, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per all above. Thryduulf (talk) 20:01, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Targets what it should, considering correct grammar in redirects really only applies to the article space. Steel1943 (talk) 07:03, 30 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

There is the more updated Wikipedia:Administrative action review. NotReallySoroka (talk) 04:15, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Wikipedia:Administrative action review. That seems like the straightforward solution. BD2412 T 05:13, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Changing my !vote to create an index page per excellent work by Thryduulf, below. BD2412 T 19:20, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Create an index page. There are multiple venues where admin actions are reviewed - WP:AARV, WP:AN, WP:ANI, WP:ARC, WP:AE and someone using this search term could be looking for any of them. Thryduulf (talk) 11:52, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I would also agree with this solution. BD2412 T 06:06, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I've drafted an index page, but it needs improvement. Thryduulf (talk) 20:45, 23 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Wikipedia:Administrative action review, which is the central location for this. -- Tavix (talk) 03:52, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Except the top of that page explicitly says it isn't the place to review all admin actions, it's only one of several venues that review admin actions. I strongly oppose retargetting to only one of them, given that none of them are "central" or more correct than any others. Thryduulf (talk) 10:12, 24 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, Jay 05:17, 26 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If an index page is created, it should be titled at Wikipedia:Requests for review of administrative actions. An index page is not an essay, so we should refrain from using abbreviations such as "admin". NotReallyMoniak (talk) 14:50, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy with either title. Thryduulf (talk) 20:00, 27 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Create an index page per Thryduulf and BD2412 above, and keep the draft which is already there. CycloneYoris talk! 06:35, 2 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
