I'm not sure if this qualifies for AfD or RfD given it targets wikispecies. This wikispecies target page is about an ichthyologist. It seems like this should probably be WP:REDYES'd. It seems like this soft redirect to wikispecies for a non-species is a WP:SURPRISE, at least to me. TartarTorte 21:34, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was keep. It seems that all of the opposition to this redirect, including both IP comments below, has come from various sox of a single LTA. Blocks applied. The original AfD discussion for this article closed with a consensus to redirect to this target, however, multiple oppositions have been made regarding this target, including claims of this road extending beyond this peak, with possible targets for this redirect pointing to List of roads in Hong Kong § New Territories. I am starting this discussion in hopes of determining the most appropriate target for this redirect, given the opposition. Jalen Folf (talk) 19:38, 28 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This road is notable in Hong Kong, especially to drivers, cyclist and hikers. The original AfD is wrong about notability. See the number of articles about "飛鵝山道" in Google, it is 145,000. Although the number of English articles about "Fei Ngo Shan Road" is 18,600, less by one digit. It is by its nature the major access road to the hilly area enclosed by Kowloon, Shatin and Saikung, albeit without public transport. Anyway it is easily accessible by drivers, loved by drivers. It is one of best place to view the whole urban area of Kowloon and Hong Kong and the Victoria Harbour, scenic days and nights. It is a pre-WWII road built by the British Army to control of the territory and to defense the harbour, once on the defense line against Japanese Invasion of 1941. A native resident in Hong Kong, who never visit this road, knows that it is a well-known place for (maybe illicit) couples to play in their cars, and recently they got their fine tickets under strict counter-COVID measures.

Building an article requires days of efforts to research, to collect, to write and to improve. On the contrary, any Wikipedian, without any prior knowledge, or without any serious research, can request for deletion any time. It is waste of time to give comments again and again. Even 15 minutes of typing may waste a day for reasoning. Let them do what they want is more reasonable and effective.

• Keep regardless of the exact boundaries of the road, List of streets and roads in Hong Kong § New Territories provides less information to the reader than does the current target, and is a far less suitable place to add additional sourced content about the road. Once there is more sourced content about the road, we can consider splitting that content out to this lemma (note that the AFD merely came to a conclusion on the state of the article without looking at the notability of the topic, and one of the only two participants explicitly stated that It is useful to preserve the history under the redirect to allow for editors to undo the redirect if significant coverage in reliable sources is found.) 61.239.39.90 (talk) 06:38, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
• Comment: According to maps and the statutory definition most of the entire length of this road lies outside the Wong Tai Sin District or the area as defined in s 3 and the Fifth Schedule of the Interpretations Act. 5 speed transmissions (which don't necessarily need to be manual anyway) are not specifically discussed at the current target, only mentioned in passing, so a would-be searcher will be unlikely to find what they are looking for. Further, note that it is the only redirect of this type which goes to the target, and similar redirects 4-speed and 6 Speed (which you get if searching "4 speed" or "6 speed" target disparate things unrelated to vehicle transmissions.
