The result of the discussion was retarget to Stavros Flatley. (non-admin closure) ComplexRational (talk) 23:02, 4 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recently created duplicate article, incorrectly spelled, and subsequently turned into a redirect to another article not the main article. An alternative (I.e. wrong) spelling is quite unnecessary, and only serves to confuse. See Stavros Flatley for original article of the notable UK entertainment duo. Nick Moyes (talk) 21:38, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Retarget to Stavros Flatley. Not "recently created" (it was created exactly ten years ago less one day!) and it seems like a reasonable enough typo to me. PC78 (talk) 22:13, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Stavros Flatley as above and plausible typo. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 02:10, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Retarget to Stavros Flatley. I'm not sure it's a reasonable typo but it's a very plausible misspelling for someone who has heard the name but not seen it written, or who has misremembered how it is spelled. Thryduulf (talk) 07:50, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nothing about him in the article. Rathfelder (talk) 21:18, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

"Nothing about him in the article" Look at the infobox, he is the principal. BrDen (talk) 22:08, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Point, BrDen? Every high school has a principal. Without at least some indication of why this principal has importance makes this a bad redirect. John from Idegon (talk) 09:46, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • In case it wasn't clear, Delete as an unneeded redirect. There is no substantive content in the target article about the principal, just a name, which is appropriate. No sources to be found to indicate this person is anything more weighty than simply a high school principal, and no indication that anyone would search Wikipedia for his name. Redirect from the Finnish word for Field hockey, unnecessary per WP:RFOREIGN, as field hockey is from India. signed, Rosguill talk 20:56, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete per WP:FORRED. I'm not seeing any evidence of use in English language contexts. Thryduulf (talk) 07:51, 29 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not mentioned at the target. From searching online, it seems like carbohydrate foam is a 3D printing material? Seems misleading to me. signed, Rosguill talk 20:30, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I'm on the fence here and felt that this needed more eyes on it. The target is an actual river that long predates Windows executable files. There isn't really anything useful about the redirect, other than being mildly funny, but at the same time it seems rather harmless. signed, Rosguill talk 18:28, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment Google searches are not going to be helpful with this redirect as, even when placed in quotation marks and "verbatim" is selected it does not distinguish between "River Exe" and "river.exe". Thryduulf (talk) 18:42, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete, there is no need to keep joke redirects in the main namespace. —Xezbeth (talk) 18:55, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete unless there is evidence that people actually call it that (even as a joke). I can't seem to find any myself, but it is something that's hard to search for. --Pokechu22 (talk) 19:13, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Do we really need that? Hildeoc (talk) 15:31, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not really. Delete as an implausible combination of typos. PC78 (talk) 16:13, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete as an implausible error. I see little reason to keep this type of redirect; even if someone were to actually type it in, it would be corrected by the search function anyway. Geolodus (talk) 16:18, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • It would only be corrected in some circumstances, and even then not necessarily for every person - even if we consider only the proportion of readers who use the internal search. Thryduulf (talk) 17:03, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Two separate typos are normally enough to warrant deletion, let alone three. —Xezbeth (talk) 18:56, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

DELETE Wikipedia is not a translation dictionary; this does not meet WP:RFOREIGN. This is not a particularly German concept. This spelling does not appear at the target. This concept did not originate in Germany. --- 70.51.201.106 (talk) 13:34, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was disambiguate. Page history moved to Woolong (fictional currency). wbm1058 (talk) 03:12, 5 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Due to the lack of notability of the redirect with the subject of the target article, and the fact that the redirect is not mentioned in the target article, I'd suspect most who look up this term and arrive at its current target would be subject to a WP:SURPRISE. For that reason, I propose this be retargeted to Wulong District as a {{R from incorrect spelling}} since Wulong redirects there, or weak delete. (Note: This redirect is a {{R with history}}.) Steel1943 (talk) 13:15, 15 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment I'm tempted by a disambiguation page here, where a short sentence could note that it is a fiction currency in Cowboy Bebop (by far the primary topic), but there is also a cultivar of Iris tectorum variously called "Wolong" or "Woolong", suggesting it's also a plausible misspelling for at least some of the entries on the Wolong dab. The current target has a "not to be confused with" hatnote pointing to Wulong [District], Oolong, and Ulong. There is a restaurant by this name in Lusaka, Zambia but it does not seem to be notable. Thryduulf (talk) 00:02, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I mostly agree. I'm really hesitant to have disambiguation pages that are nothing but misspellings, though I think you could make the argument that this is more a matter of romanization than spelling. I'm not opposed to deletion, though I'm wary of pointing to just one of the potential topics (cf. WP:XY). --BDD (talk) 16:00, 16 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate. Among the first page of results on google books, I see instances of "Woolong" referring to either Oolong tea or to a place in Sichuan (most likely associated with the Wolong National Nature Reserve). We seem to be dealing not with misspellings but with legitimate alternative anglicisations. – Uanfala (talk) 21:29, 26 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Please add new comments below this notice. Thanks, B dash (talk) 02:07, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Disambiguate per others. It's mentioned at Won sign and in a few other Cowboy Bebop articles, and also appears to be a fictional currency in other media, including Carole & Tuesday and Space Dandy. PC78 (talk) 03:27, 28 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
