Waterloo Road characters
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- The result of the discussion was consensus to delete all as listed. SilkTork ✔Tea time 08:37, 28 October 2011 (UTC) Amend: After checking history, I have kept Jed Seddon, Dale Baxter, Stacey Appleyard , and Shane Warwick as they had history related to significant content. It might be appropriate to give them an entry in List of Waterloo Road characters. SilkTork ✔Tea time 09:02, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Delete. Target list does not include these characters. No incoming links. – Fayenatic (talk) 12:28, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Delete all as not mentioned in the target, and no substantial mention elsewhere, hence confusing. Bridgeplayer (talk) 23:22, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
Strongest possible keep Courtney Walsh, iconic, hugely notable, cricketer. Never has been redirected to the suggested target so I fail to understand the nomination. Bridgeplayer (talk) 23:22, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- I think this was a mistake by the nominator. I think they meant to nominate Courtney Walsh (Waterloo Road) which is in Category:Waterloo_Road_characters and which is, in fact, a redirect with an {{rfd}} tag on it. I've updated the links above. —mako๛ 01:04, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Comment - Either these are incorrectly missing from List of Waterloo Road characters or they should not be listed. In the first case, they should be added to the target and the redirects should be kept. If they are correctly absent, we should delete these redirects. I'm not knowledgeable enough about the topic to decide which situation we're in. I've left talk page messages on Talk:List of Waterloo Road characters and Talk:Waterloo Road (TV series) asking for help. —mako๛ 17:50, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Delete None of these are regular characters from Waterloo Road, which is why they are not mentioned in the characters article. Courtney, Zak and Dale were guest pupils in series 1 and 2 (appearing in only one or possibly two episodes each), and the Gem is a family member of regular character Lewis Seddon. Brief details on them can be found at old diffs of the article, which had a very messy and overly-extensive list of minor characters which I deleted. U-Mos (talk) 11:20, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Note I did just created Jed Seddon's redirect myself, but considering the decision on major characters at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Harry Fisher I considered it appropriate. U-Mos (talk) 11:41, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Terrapin
- The following is an archived discussion concerning one or more redirects. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made on an appropriate discussion page (such as the redirect's talk page or in a deletion review). No further edits should be made to this section.
- Terrapin → Diamondback terrapin (links to redirect • history • stats) [ Closure: keep/delete ]
The redirect should point to Terrapin (disambiguation) because the disambiguation page lists 8 species with "terrapin" in the common name and defines it as "a turtle living in fresh or brackish water", while Wiktionary defines it as "any of several North American turtles, of the family Emydidae, that live in fresh or brackish water". In other words, "terrapin" is no longer a common name only for Malaclemys terrapin. Kat (talk) 09:46, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Comment - the first priority would seem to be to complete the merge. There is a significant sourced material here that was not merged to Diamondback terrapin when the page was redirected. I have alerted the redirecting editor. Bridgeplayer (talk) 13:51, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Agree that the merge wasn't complete. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 14:44, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Weak support. "terrapin" for most of the world doesn't mean Diamondback terrapin, but other things depending on the cultural influence for that location. A quick check of 'what links here' confirms that. Regards, SunCreator (talk) 14:44, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Weak support. The enlargement of the disambiguation page since the redirect was given it's current target makes ms think that it should point to the disambiguation page. That said, I believe diamondback terrapin should be given prominent first listing as the original meaning of the term (that is, it originally applied to that species exclusively), and still the near-only non-specialist usage in the area/county where the word originated. oknazevad (talk) 05:11, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
- Support - It certainly seems like there are multiple types of terrapin and the dab is the right place for folks to land. That said, please finish the merge. —mako๛ 17:53, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
- Redirect to the disambig page. Per above, it makes more sense that the redirect point to a page with links to other related pages, rather than pointing to one page and then going to the disambig from there. Ajraddatz (Talk) 18:17, 12 October 2011 (UTC)

- The result of the discussion was that the redirect is retargeted. Mkativerata (talk) 07:14, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

Not sure if this redirect makes the best sense. Redirecting it to the election results for an election she was in seems odd. I couldn't find any general guidelines on if this is the precedent, but perhaps discussion can bring about a more logical redirect. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:09, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Keep. WP:POLITICIAN says: "In the case of candidates for political office who do not meet this guideline, the general rule is to redirect to an appropriate page covering the election or political office sought in lieu of deletion". Even if it didn't say that, it's a common-sense and harmless redirect, and there are no viable alternative targets. --Mkativerata (talk) 05:36, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- Change redirect to Prince Edward Island general election, 2011. Thanks for finding a policy that gives some guidance on this. In light of that, I think it would make more sense to redirect her page to Prince Edward Island general election, 2011, since that covers the actual election instead of just redirecting it to the riding where she ran for election. Inks.LWC (talk) 05:59, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
- That suggestion sounds fine by me. I'm happy for it to be changed and this RfD closed on that basis. --Mkativerata (talk) 06:54, 10 October 2011 (UTC)
