There are a dozen or so others I did not list that he claims were gifts to him. This uploader, with over 2000 images, is the single largest uploader on English Wikipedia in terms of bytes uploaded, and a vast majority of those images appear to have been taken by him. These two dozen or so, I am unable to explain, however. I really do hope this is all a big misunderstanding. Sven Manguard Wha? 03:02, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

• Comment: File:Howard K. Smith of Ferriday, LA IMG 1222.JPG states that the photo was taken by Billy Hawthorn in 2008, but the person shown died in 2002. Billy Hawthorn has taken many useful photos for Wikimedia, but has had a problem here and on Commons in the past with taking photos of photos taken by someone else and claiming them as his own work. That this is a copyright violation as derivative work has been explained to Billy Hawthorn more than once. To maintain his good standing, I hope Billy Hawthorn will quickly identify any remaining problem images/ photos of photos somebody else took which he has uploaded. • Delete. The uploader appears to be commenting on each nomination on the image page itself, rather than here. In the cases where he claims someone else gave him the photo, we need evidence of permission. In other cases, the work shown would appear to be non-free (he's now saying that the images were taken at museums). I'm unsure about the licensing, especially with the small images in the border, and I can't access the marapets site because I'm not an account holder. (orphaned apart from user page, likely no encyclopedic use because of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Marapets, so this should be treated as an uploader's personal image.
