About Us

The Center for the History of Medicine is one of the world’s leading collections in the history of health care and medicine, attracting researchers from around the world to consult its rare books and journals, archives and manuscripts, photographs and prints, and art and artifact collections. The history of medicine plays a critical role in informing contemporary medicine, at the same time that it informs our understanding of the larger society within which medicine is embedded.

The Center oversees the Rare Books and Special Collections of the Countway and also administers the archives of the Harvard Medical School, and the Schools of Dental Medicine and Public Health, and oversees a records management program. In addition, the Center houses an extensive collection of prints and photographs, works of fine art, and medical artifacts, and has responsibility for the collections of the Warren Anatomical Museum (website) and the Archives for Women in Medicine.

Maybe

  • I am really interested in promoting health content on Wikipedia. I live in NYC - should I attend this? Not sure right now. Who is the Wikipedian organizing this? Please contact me. I could present on Wikipedia and health at this if there were people committed to attending. Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:37, 2 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
